Except it was an earnest invitation to discussion about the film, rather than a vitriolic pissing contest of nothing-comments. Differences of opinion are what makes film criticism interesting, however when the film in question is so obviously being misrepresented, and the people discussing the film are doing so in bad faith, the resulting dialogue is doomed from the get go. Let's just agree to disagree and put it to bed, as amicably as possible. Hope you get AIDS by the way.

I'm thinking of a movie I may have seen a VERY long time ago on TNT or similar. It's a color movie from the 1960s or thereabouts. The basic idea is that a modern ship sails into a very foggy area (it's not The Fog), and they find like an old Spanish Armada ship or similar with aged crew in costume. There's sea monsters in the Sargasso Sea, men fall overboard or are made to walk the plank, monster sarlacc-things in the sea eat the doomed sailors. What movie am I thinking of?

It was too fucking long. Creggers somewhat needed it to be long to justify the non-linear plot shit, but honestly there was so much shit you could cut out of it. Most of the crack addict vs. cop plotline added nothing to the film, even if the addict was a good character.
Also the ending was too goofy.

I think it completely hinges on whether or not you buy the titular creepy character, personally I thought Duplass' performance was excellent and convincing but I can understand not liking it. The sequel is the same movie more or less.

>>215008912
My thoughts also, pretty much. Despite good acting, cinematography, sound design etc. the non-linear structure was a detriment to the film. Some of the scenes you get from that do give valuable insight into the plot and inner struggles of the characters but for the most part it was filler that could have been cut. This is all fine and the movie was still alright and worth watching but to see people praising it to the moon is confusing to me.

It's fucking horrible. One of the worst horror films ever made. Hammy ass acting, retarded ass plot, unrealistic actions by one monumentally stupid person, and an underwhelming ending. It's TRASH.

I can't imagine being this mad at Creep unless you were actually kidnapped and raped.
Happened to a friend of mine in Mexico.
>>
>>215009076

Nothing wrong with the ending of the 1970s version:

-extinction of the human species
-in particular, the overthrow of 1970s decadent civilization
-everyone is rational and unemotional, and above all, athetistic, absolutely no need for the human stupidity towards religion, just create pods and spread, that's all
-Veronica Cartwright suffers (that's her whole job in film)

I for one welcome my own replacement with a pod-guy. The events are also enjoyable because they replace and sort out the stupid fag culture of San Francisco, like Leonard Nimoy in his little faggy glove-let thing. Sutherland makes a stupid joke that his friend's husband must have suddenly turned into "a republican or something". Then he gets his. They all get what's coming to them.

I'd rather be kidnapped and raped than to sit through a shit movie like that ever again

IIRC, it's just economic desperation in the first place, and then a weird dynamic of emotional manipulation that makes him stay and keep interacting with the creep in the second place. It does stretch believability a tad but for the most part it works. If you've ever known someone who is a little bit insane and manipulative, who plays on your empathy in order to try and get you to stay with them, you might sympathise with the MC.

Found footage is unique among horror subgenres in that the lower quality FF movies are among the worst movies of all time, one character, one digital camcorder, no plot, nothing. The very worst slashers etc. are still more engaging than the worst found footage movies by a country mile. But the upper tier of FF is still worth watching for any horror fan.

Most people seem to really like it but there are some who feel the structure was a detriment to the film, the themes introduced were not executed in a particularly satisfying manner and the comedic moments were a tonal clash that didn't work. I'm in the latter camp but the film did have good cinematography, acting, sound and a great premise.

It was my way of illustrating that a movie doesn't need good acting to be entertaining, but it is true that Cube with its complete focus on this small group of characters for the entire duration, in an intimate/claustrophobic setting, does make the bad acting stand out more. That and, it is a film where acting ability would definitely improve the desired effect - gradual loss on insanity due to confinement - than in a cheesy slasher.

Annie Hardy is adorable and really carried Dashcam. I enjoyed the movie, although the plot was pretty backseat. I couldn't even tell you what it's about. Its main draw is having a cute fem-/pol/ lead that fills an extremely rare niche in the world of cinema, with dialogue that feels like a flow of high-quality shitposts

Spree was the total opposite, and suffered as a result. A definite time capsule, but way out of touch and "on the wrong side of history" as the future will show
