Evil Dead is the best multi-film horror franchise.
Solely because it didn't become total utter shit like Halloween, Scream, Elm St and so on.
It's only fault is not having women more women in panties.
You can see Jane Levy's panties through her nightie.

I remember Blair Witch as a great movie tho. it tapped into the simple fear of the unknown, of getting lost in a forest and perfectly combined it with supernatural stuff and never showing anything.
>>
>>215096479
wasn't he always a child molester? at least implied? i haven't watched any of the movies in a long time
>>
>>215096479
Do they? I thought they were mad at that part in the remake because there's for some reason a small subplot of it being ambiguous if he was actually innocent or not that gets immediately dropped. It's also pretty blatant in the first film and I feel like entirely codified in FvJ.

Also if someone exclusively murders children and is presented as a sadist I think it's kind of splitting hairs if they're also a pedophile or not since they're already basically the worst thing anyone can be.
>>
>>215096479
i might take the brave stance that murderin is even more evil than molestin

>>215096515
I dont know, I just know that whenever I hear someone shitting on the remake they always bring up Freddy turning into a kiddie diddler. It's weird because its makes it sound like they're offended and defending the honor of a fictional child killer.

All of this is rushing back in to my brain because I'm playing Dead By Daylight and for some reason their Freddy is the 2010 version instead of Robert Englund.

>Weapons 2025
Since this film is so recent i will put my analysis in spoilers.

this is a movie about witchcraft, parasitism, and addiction. First, addiction, the teacher is an alcoholic, the cop a recovering alkie, and the junkie is a junkie. My claim is that addiction takes the shape of a social pattern, and this movie wants to represent that. to have an addict you need someone blaming the addict for their existence, and thus the shame justifies the suffering in the addicts life. 'im addicted, thats why its so hard for me.' this is where the parasitism comes in. the addict cannot survive without a host, as the parasite without a host will surely die. substance abuse thus a twofold pattern, the substance is a parasite upon the addict, and the addict upon society, and society in turn back upon the addict.

Okay, so what does witchcraft have to do with it? witchcraft is a symbol for feminine sexual fascination. and we have three witches here, first the teacher, who preys upon the recovering addict, taking him to a bar, enabling his drinking, and fucking him. Then we have his wife, who sees him as a potentiality for childbirth and not much else. a succubus type of witch. both of these characters enable the addiction of the cop character, one give the substance, the other shames. finally we have the antagonist, who takes the form of a true parasite, with the mirror to the cordyceps fungi taking over the ants. Her magic spell makes people uncaring to their responsibilities and ultimately willing to do anything for her. Her witchcraft bieng more literal, allows her to stand as the drug itself. her sexual fascination is more symbolic, taking on maternal relationships with the child character, but also literally taking the children from both the community and the teacher.

Finally we have the school shooting message, the united states is somewhat addicted to guns despite the damage they do, and the effect they have on entire classrooms. to be cntd

>Weapons 2025 (continued)
Since this film is so recent i will put my analysis in spoilers.

the film may ultimately be drawing the symbolic connection from addiction, witchcraft, and parasitism to guns and school shootings. so i want to point out briefly the symbology in the title card. The o in weapons is turned into a magical circle, as one would draw around oneself in the tradition of occult summoning rituals in order to protect oneself, and placed within it is a magical triangle, which is the locus of the summoning for the demon. if you were to configure such a magical structure you would summon the evil in the very location you surrounded yourself in to protect yourself from that exact evil. in this sense the bullying of alex, the child who is obedient through coercion to the witch, is the very thing many school shooter manifestos cite as the reason of their violence. the school is set up to be a public yet safe place, free from the dangers of real life in order to facilitate learning and growth, yet within this very safe haven are the exact ingredients that lead to the corruption of youth and the violence of school shootings. the danger is summoned within the safety. In this way the 2:17 can be seen symbolically, first as a reference to the 17 killed in the parkland high school shooting. but also as, perhaps, a reference to Matthew 2:17-18 which heralds the death of children: "A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more." Obviously gun violence is part of what the film is thinking about, with two gun deaths on screen and the assault rifle dream sequence.

tl;dr america is addicted to killing itself with guns. addiction is about substance, addict, enabler, and shamer.

Just finished. Pretentious psycho-pinku nonsense I didn't understand at all. A good-looking Japanese guy who's addicted to phone sex discovers he can only cum if he murders someone while dressed as a school girl. Then a nude female angel shows up at his apartment and asks him to beat her. It's mostly simulated sex scenes and there's an extended forced enema at the middle. Only an hour. No cannibalism takes place.

Ok I read a whole bunch of pseud posts on reddit and beyond about Chime (2024), and can conclusively say that the internet is an intellectual wasteland.
Just reading interviews with Kurosawa revealed a lot more. For anyone interested:
>In terms of the story, I believe the main character starts fearing crossing three lines. The first is the line of societal law. Those who cross it end up getting caught by the police. They start fearing the police. Another is the fear of doing it again. It’s about morality. Once you step outside the bounds of “thou shalt not kill,” you might end up killing again in a similar situation. You might end up killing your own son, stepping outside the line of morality. The last one is conscience. Having killed someone. This one is quite straightforward, as it involves the fear of the ghost of the person you killed. That’s conscience. When these three lines are crossed, the fear of these three lines suddenly surrounds them. I crafted a story with this structure in mind.
>Finally, although these three lines, these three fears, may not be something people consciously think about in their everyday lives, by committing acts like murder, humans come to understand this kind of confinement within these three limitations. Therefore, in the end of this film, though it may seem highly immoral, I wanted to conclude the story with the impression that he took a step towards overcoming these lines, towards breaking free from this fear.

This is one of my favorite movies, and might have appeal for FF fans, but be aware it isn't FF, guys. It's also not for casuals. It's a student film based on a Richard Laymon novel, black and white, and is all psychological. There's next to no action, it's all concept, and as you'd expect the acting is shaky and it's generally amateurish. But if you're adventurous, patient, and open minded, this is great fucking stuff.

Christopher Nolan put his entire burgeoning career on the line with an unorthodox new contract stipulation in every actors agreement in order to be in the new at the time reboot of the Batman franchise, Batman Begins. This secret proviso attached to all male stars and co-stars contracts included the then up and coming leading man Christian Bale. What was this new requirement you ask? Well, male stars had to bear all to Mr. Nolan and a small skeleton set of producers, privately reveling their cock and balls.
Jonathan Nolan, long time collaborator and brother of Christopher Nolan, has been quoted explaining the need for this as both a creative and fund raising necessity in this age of auteur directors that are additionally showrunners and self financiers, juggling duel roles as producers and creatives.
Christopher Nolan himself could not be reached for comment but his long time wife and script supervisor has expressed her enthusiasm for the new practice and sees more of Hollywood's A-list directors and producers adding this stipulation to the standard rider as a base from which actor's negotiations start from.

..Still can believe they got Michael Caine to agree to this.
Rumor has it he got back at them by leaking pre the ENTIRE TIME.

Embodiment of Evil (2008) – If you are already a fan of Coffin Joe -- the top hat-wearing Brazilian killer who deems himself an atheistic Nietzschean superman, obsessed with continuing his bloodline through the perfect woman, this can be no less than EXCELLENT. Forty years after the second film in his Coffin Joe trilogy (the ending of which the military junta FORCED him to alter), actor/director Jose Mojica Marins returns, older and fatter perhaps, but even CRAZIER and more bombastic than ever. Everything Coffin Joe couldn’t get away with in the 1960s is HERE and then some, all against the blood-splashed backdrop of a Brazilian favela -- deep shadows vying with harsh fluorescents, sparkling from the unwholesome, granular dampness of crumbling slum walls. Coffin Joe tortures with abandon to punish his enemies as well as find the *perfect*, fearless woman to take his vile seed, and he does so with jaw-dropping brutality! (Ever read Orwell’s 1984? I’ll just say . . . hot fondue, rats, vagina.)

Okay, but I already know you're going to say they're all shit, because you people are so predictable and just like to argue in bad faith.

But the touch I might have enjoyed most -- it vies with the two over-the-top sequences of Coffin Joe COITUS -- was perhaps the new portrayal of Joe’s INSANITY. As in the other films, his buried conscience comes to torment him with phantoms of victims and visions of hell. In this installment, the specters of the dead appear in fuzzy, scratchy B&W film grain, often summoning sped-up flashbacks from the old movies. The film seems to *suggest* the real presence of the supernatural, particularly in the ending, but it’s really up to you whether to dismiss them as mad figments, as Coffin Joe does, or take them for actual manifestations.

In the end, I think the best thing of all about Embodiment is that is does not give a SINGLE DAMN about modern rules of propriety. There are not only horrible tortures portrayed with good practicals (all perfectly acceptable in today’s world) . . . but old men slobbering on the tongues of beautiful young girls, and more tight, naked young bodies than *any* modern horror film is likely to show. Furthermore, an Asian girl is snatched off the street with a stereotypical twanging of “Oriental” music, followed by a night-black beauty nabbed from a dance hall to the accompaniment of TRIBAL DRUMS. It’s just that kind of movie!

A good write-up, Joe-bro. It's surprising how good it was when he hadn't even made a movie since the 80s before that

You are absolutely right! Me and brother here just came off of The Strange World of Coffin Joe (kind of a middling, padded-out anthology), and we were shocked by the overall quality and COMPLETENESS of this film. Like you said, this old guy just came out of stasis and "Here ya go!"
