>>215293073No, because I refuse to watch any film in which race is a central issue.
>>215293068Massively depends. If you like zoomer analog horror, it actually has something to offer.I'm in the middle ground. I initially hated it because of the cheap youtube-baby loud noise bullshit, but the more I reflected on it the more I liked other elements of it. It's bold. It's so embarassingly literal it went over my head.
>>215293073I feel like I'll watch it for the first time after the year 2030 and then form an opinion.
>>215293068It's fine as long as you're not a mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, neanderthal-brow having retard.

VOTE FOR BEST!https://strawpoll.com/eNg69X4VjnADawn is probably best but I have a real soft spot for Tower. The feel & look of the film is like a Hammer gothic but the plot, killers and amount of nudity screams 80s slasher. Its a mix I wish we got more of.

I'm watching the 1931 Dracula movie right now. I get why it's considered a classic, Bela Lugosi is amazing.
>>215293460For years after the movie came out there was so little known about the director it was almost a joke so there were actual conspiracies that spiralled on the internet and were a lot of fun honestly... then the director started making movies again like 10 years later or something (can't be bothered looking it or him up)... I liked the movie a lot desu
>>215293670One of those roles that was so perfect for an actor that it ruined them. Nobody could see him as anything besides Dracula.

finished A Tale of Two Sisters.this was shot really well. acting was also really good. had no idea where it was going until the very end, but I have to say it landed on a note that was too depressing for me. feels bad man.
>>215294396also while I'm on the topic. it's kind of crazy how many "scary asian girl" horrors came out in the late 90s/early 00s that were beautifully shot. not just japan, but also thailand, korea. and then they just all forgot how to make them.

Just watched this and much like Leaving D.C. I'm once again shocked how much can be accomplished on no budget. Tons of practical effects, coherent storytelling, and actual fucking shot composition. Just because something is cheap doesn't mean it's shit.
>>215294504yeah though in my head it was going to be about the step mother being the older version of the headcase, and the beating scene being what really happened but in the past. and I thought that was gonna be depressing enough. good rec anyway from the anon who said it was one of their favs.
>>215294535Hm. Gonna need more before I put it on. What was good about it? I don’t want to waste my time.

>>215294535sounds kewl. I'd love to shoot my own one day, even if it meant blowing a ton of money on it. The main problem is trying to keep the cast down. That's what Leaving DC did so we'll.
>>215294650life's too short not to, can't spend money when you're dead
>>215294650Just make a movie about you in your room spamming an online forum on horror movies with movies from the 80’s.
>>21529473280s are alright for sfx but they tend to be more campy. I unironically think j horror films look the best, at least with grainy grim textures. Found footage is the domain of low budget film makers anyway. Something like Paranormal Activity maybe.
>>215294732Yeah or one of those webcam horror movies
>>215294650I haven't watched it yet, but wasn't Skinamarink shot in someones basement with almost no cast for super cheap? I've heard the film is divisive, but look at all the attention it got.
>>215294799I feel like there's a gap in the market to make a technologically competent webcam horror. All of them are like>The ghost just double clicked the browser! He's running an attachment!I want to see one where you need to be a /g/ poster to understand what's happening. Just a cult film for the 1337.
>>215294801Skinamarink found a unique gimmick that no one else had exploited. Do that and you'll get noticed, but unless you can cook up another gimmick you'll get forgotten quick. Best you can do is write a really killer script. Budget on Primer was only $7k, but everybody was captivated by the writing. I guess what I'm really saying is Have Talent, lol, which isn't very practical advice.

Just finished. Somebody in one of these threads mentioned this and I thought it looked interesting. A lot of fun! No frills, spooky anthology set in one apartment building that seems to have nothing on its mind besides entertaining its audience. Likeable, simple, competent, never boring. I have watched Strange Harvest. It was pretty good. Some of the effects were a bit rough, mostly the crime scene 'photos' and Glen's makeup, but over all pretty good. It's weird seeing analog horror elements in a feature length film.

Been checking out this so called /hor/ general, people tell me it’s about horror movies. Frankly, very boring stuff! They talk about the SAME 80s movies every single day, Evil Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, all terrible, all aged like milk. Total audio-visual disasters. Nobody’s talking about anything NEW, very sad!And there’s this one guy, always posting Suspiria and that, let's be honest here, very ugly woman, he posts her over and over again. I think they call him Harperfag. Folks, we get it. It’s colorful. It’s Italian. YAWN! The general would be doing much better numbers if he took a permanent vacation.

At one point he nearly throws her in a furnace and she's floating in the air in front of it, but they just yank her away from him. They make the crazy decision that they can physically hurt him as well, so when they beat him it's by literally cutting his foot off and bashing his face into the surface of a frozen lake before he gets dragged down by ghosts. They also steal the idea from Freddy that his power comes from kids' fear, so that's he has to lure them back to his old summer camp where the bodies/ghosts of the first kids he ever killed are.

Watched 3 movies. So here's my pointless brief thoughts on them:>Paranormal Activity: Tokyo NightIt's not good and has a lot of boring parts. It is connected to the series, but as an alternative version of things. The worst part is that it's a Japanese movie trying to do what American movies did, and fails horribly. It just doesn't work and should have gone full Jap on it like other Japanese FF movies do. Skip it unless you're a completionist.>House On EdenBelow average movie. It's very predictable, the fat girl is hard to look at, and the 3 of them are annoying at times. It has some moments, but doesn't do anything you haven't seen done better in dozens of these types of movies.>Mieruko-chanI enjoyed this supernatural comedy-horror. The lead girls are cute, acting isn't bad, and it has comfy HS girl stuff that I like. It's not a serious horror movie, so avoid if that's what you're looking for.
in the eyes of the law he is innocent, lawyers have nothing.
Tonight's movie. The boobs were nice
>Carolyn Jones' Morticia Addams looks sexy as hell>look her up out of character>grandma fashionnoooooo...
>>215299083I basically like two kinds of horror films. The first one I would describe as dreamlike, surreal and slightly melancholic, something like Suspiria and other Argento stuff. The second one is body-horror, because I find this shit scary and disturbing, like The Thing or The Fly. This movie has both. The atmosphere is often slow and eerie, but the body horror scenes are unnerving and disgusting. Also Sono is batshit crazy and uses weird plot elements, so the story is not as formulatic as usual and all the dark parts are balanced with dark humor and central relationship between characters. In Harperian terms I could describe it as somewhat similar to Phantom of the Paradise.
>>215298845It's underrated Sono, probably because the premise is so wacky. Between Suicide Club, Exte, and Antiporno, I've got 3 Sonos in my favorite 500 movies.
>>215293068I saw this in theaters and I think it's the only real way it can be effective. I also don't know how effective it would be on a rewatch. But I loved it and it's one of the only movies that's really gotten under my skin. When I was a kid, all of my nightmares were pretty much exactly like Skinamarink - dark, grainy, distorted, not being able to trust my parents or the safety of my own home. Watching something that brought my childhood nightmares to life was very engaging and unsettling. I totally get how people hate it, though.
Just finished. Starting point in what is apparently the longest running western horror franchise out there (16 movies.). Typical Rosemary's Baby scenario except the baby's already been born and people want to steal it. Very traditional and old-fashioned, and until the climax has so little violence I would've bought it was a TV movie from the period. No nudity either. Have always been intimidated by how big this franchise is but I guess I'm in now.
>>215299278Silly anon, Jigsaw's traps don't need bait. Also you need to watch more Law And Order.
>>215299278I find it funny that while his name is iconic the reason for it is such an overlooked thing that nobody cares about. That whole thing of cutting a jigsaw out of their skin was dropped so fast
speaking about jigsaw, this looks goodhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0tGUirLEYk
>>215292892As Above, So Below&REC Probably the best ones
>>215292929Wikipedia says this is a jogger movie. Can anyone confirm?
bros I'm hosting halloween for few friends, do I put some horror flick on telly or do they just want to listen to spotify and watch dumb videos on youtube?
>>215293068Fucking boring faggot shit. Nothing happens, there's nothing on screen for a majority of the movie, the 'monster' voice is insanely cringe. I had a shitty abusive childhood but it was spent in tiny squalid apartments in the ghetto, not a sprawling suburban McMansion, so the whole "muh child abuse" angle falls apart. Also it uses fucking fake film grain! How fucking gay! Only decent part was the doll house stuff and the face at the end. I wanted to like this movie so bad but it's utter zoomer dog shit made by a dude who looks like a diddler
>>215299523You never know with zoomers, but having halloween flicks on seems way comfier
>>215299523it's not us you wanna ask. ask them
>>215292892I like The Blair Witch Project, most of REC (just don't like the last 10-15 minutes or so) and I remember liking The Conspiracy.
>>215299591>ask themno
>>215292939/ffg/ bros ww@???
>>215299283It's not night yet, you are a demon.
>>215299523Do a mix of both if you're able to, keep it casual. Set up a playlist of Halloween videos and whatnot going on one TV/large monitor and then run movies on your main TV.
>>215299650Are you asking what the movie is? If so, The Poughkeepsie Tapes.
>>215295455They all get killed faggot calm down
>>215299675Doable but all the people are going to be mostly on living room and having two screens showing different things would be messy. It's not that big of space.
>>215299523The answer will always be The Substance
>>215299647lol are these really your friends?
>>215299687oh sweet summer child
>>215299822well they are people that I know and have invited to a halloween party
>have to check my world backlog folders to catalog the horror movies as "halloween" related instead of making a proper folder because I like to order them by runtime and countrygod why I have this autism tier...
Should I watch any Treehouse of Horrors beyond season 9?
>>215299908i'm asking because you seem too scared of asking them what they want to do.
>>215299758In that case I say stick with just movies. Program 3-4 movies and maybe mix in a short TV special or two.
>>215298808You can choose UP to 12 but you don't have to choose that many. Can be any number inbetween.
jim carrey should be the next freddy
>>215299951I do it by language, as country gets to be a big clusterfuck.

>>215300058i'd watch him play a 6ft tall Chucky with just makeup where nobody questions his size
>>215300058>63No. The problem is they waited too long, and all the best choices are senior citizens now. You want someone young enough that can carry the series for a decade minimum.
>>215300075The problem I found with country is some movies are produced by several countries. There's also those that are made in non-English countries, but the language is English. Confuses the hell out of me when searching for something. Language to me is the easiest way to do it.
>>215300058It can't be a well known actor. The best casting for that kind of thing is actors nobody knows, so they feel like all they are is that character. Also why I can't take Klaus Kinski as Nosferatu seriously, while Max Schreck will be remembered for all time
>>215299326>The first one I would describe as dreamlike, surreal and slightly melancholic, something like Suspiria and other Argento stuff. The second one is body-horror, because I find this shit scary and disturbing, like The Thing or The Fly.Go figure, these are also my two favorite kinds of horror.>In Harperian terms I could describe it as somewhat similar to Phantom of the Paradise. We're definitely on the same page so it looks like I'm checking this out tonight.

>>215300058>>215300090I got you, famiglia
>>215300148I don't remember that being as great as this guy is selling it but it's worth a watch, that was a fruitful period for Sono, and it does feature a lot of hairkino scenes.
>>215300354You underestimate the amount of brookebros on /tv/
>>215300429They always do, we're millions.
>>215299523I have no idea how zoomers socialize, will there be women? I presume if you try and put on a movie some will be on their phones. I guess I would say Halloween related rock/punk music while getting loaded and playing some game then transition to an anthology movie since shorts are low investment and invite discussion and commentary. maybe hand out candy to trick or treaters as well to keep party flow dynamic and prompt more discussion
