Anyone here ever made a movie? I want to make one eventually. The main issue is money and lack of connections. I am not a social person but think I could still direct a movie well if it were a small cast, single camera and on DV. Something Giallo inspired. Everything costs so much today and it will take years to fund if not a decade, I'm 30 now.

>>215336734You're better off making a short film first and seeing if it works. I've made a bunch of them with friends. Full length films are a ton of work - try and write the script for one first before anything. A lot of films are more of a science than an art anyway. People resist that, but read a bunch of screenwriting books and you'll see how much formula helps. Watching films isn't enough, that's artistic and thematic evaluation. You need structural evaluation.

>The Dead Dont Die (2019)a zombie movie with a stacked cast. Weird pseudo woke shit at the beginning, with the central metaphor being kids these days always on they damn phone and the world is slowly whimpering out while we all bicker. This ones not scary at all, its mostly a relaxed romp with comfy small town vibes. there some interesting characters and some silly scenes. Meta stuff and a goofy ass twist at the end really demonstrate that this movie is just for fun, and i think that might be why so much talent worked on it. There is, however, too many characters. but man, it reignited my love for chloe sevigny, who plays the only character who is reacting realistically to how fucked it would be if there were zombies.

>>215337309While we're on modern zombie movies, this was a decent watch. I only get annoyed that people call it innovative and original, when it's essentially an I Am Legend adaptation without the twist, and with zombies that only really react to sound. Just got the definitive Black Phone 2 review and I won't be seeing it.>Black Phone 2 a car rant, and I was gonna yell up and down and I don't even have the energy for it. I'm so zoned out from the last half hour of this. With like 20 minutes, 30, maybe 20 minutes to go there's a family therapy session between some of the characters and I'm like "Why is this fucking serious?!!" Why is this a drama? It's so boring! I don't give a fuck about this stupid girl or this idiot brother who looks like fucking Chris Mulky as Shia LaBeouf as Patrick Swazy in Red Dawn. It's boring! Scott Derrickson is a repeat offending BOZO!! He always is like trying to make horror into like a 1980 domestic drama made by like Harold Becker, it's always in this like brown fuzzy 1980 Owen Roizman sheen with like dark reds and browns and stuff. BORING!! You're making a fucking Elm Street movie here, you got a guy called "The Grabber" which is stupid but there's your guy, make that and make it fun. Why is it an hour before the fucking villain shows up of therapy and her dumb dream sequences which are... like the score's pretty good, the little thing he can do that he did in Sinister with the grainy home movie footage is effective. I was like kind of OK and then they get to this winter camp, snowbound winter camp and I was like "Oh is the whole thing gonna take..." I didn't know it was all gonna take place in this like abandoned camp where he could pretend to be doing "The Thing" in some way, just in terms of some of the compositions and you know that's the kind of shit that these two idiots, he and Cargill who writes all these that they're paying homage to.The actors are fine I just don't care! I don't have any investment in the arc of these two kids from the first movie. Why would anyone even remember that?! You're making like the leap from Elm Street 3 to 4 when it's Patricia Arquette to whoever they recast her as, and those movies were fun! It wasn't this fucking serious!

>>215337435#Alive is what that sounds like. Not sure which one came first but they are quite similar. >>215337309one of the worst zombie flicks i've ever seen. was so close to turning it off. I probably should've. I just hate quirky hipster shit.
>>215339166Hell yeah, looking forward to checking those out too, and The Dead And The Deadly.
>>215339307So did I, you don't see me expecting attention for it.
>>215339298What are your wife's boyfriend favorite horror films?
>>215336390nice, i can add this to my woman getting fucked by beasts marathon.
>>215339309I guess hindsight is 20/20 but they made a blunder thinking they could turn it into a franchise with the same formula. But it's like they tried to remake it while removing core parts... like the original was captivating because they ate brains to relieve the pain of death. In the second one they just eat brains because whatever. The blonde with piercing blue eyes was gorgeous though, I liked her enough.
>>215338095>he was pranking me
>>215335885>>215338937Are any of the sequels worth watching?
>>215335900Based
>>215339369I think deep in your heart, you already knew he was anon.
>>215335937The first is unbelievable kino. The rest have no involvement from the writer/director whatsoever who really made the whole thing based on atmosphere. The second one was so radically different the guy in the costume refused to come back for it
>>215339388it dawned on me while watching that i have beena lot less cynical about movies when i try to analyze them instead of judge their quality. this has led me to say a lot of seemingly positive stuff about movies even though i dont think theyre very good. for example, last night i watched Clown (2014) and that movie is genuinely trash but i wrote about a paragraph and talked on the phone with a qt about it. its genuinely insane how its apologetic for pedophilia. maybe i will analyze the new chucky to trick myself into thinking i didnt waste my time playing.
>>215335958Who else should pretend to stab you in the shower?
>>215339430>Eli Roth as Frowny the Clown ok now I'm interested
>>215339464im warning you, its bad.
>>215336154The shills have given up besmirching older movies and are now just spamming the garbage they're here for. Imagine there's a team of 12 jews sitting around SEETHING that we've had 38+ horror movie threads this month and no one cares to mention their sloppa
>>215336212Wrong Turn is a rare franchise where there pretty much all great>>215336223I watched a movie called Ghost shark that was ridiculous but it had prime 15 yo ass in it
215336154No. I'm keeping my money and sticking with watching old Kino
>>215336333Teen Wolf maybe I'd recommend the 90's show Big Wolf on Campus
>>215339367Yes, it just misses the spark of the first movie. Maybe it's because it was directed by some hack and not by O'bannon. The characters are also forgettable, unlike the first film. The blonde girl was beautiful, indeed, and I liked the ginger girl as well.
>>215339464>>Eli Roth as Frowny the Clowni looked it up, thats just a cameo. the main character is played by Andy Powers (who?) and the main clown is called dummo. its so genuinely shit. do not watch it.
high levels of schizophrenia right now
>>215339492You have to watch>the NEW scream>the NEW halloween>the NEW i know what you did last summeryou HAVE TO get the NEW brainware updates to your mental firmware to make sure your mind is socially and culturally compatible with the NEW world
>>215336676The beginning is rough and obnoxious but I can let it go since the actors improved the entire thing. After it starts the thing is a wild ride
>>215339528>Big Wolf on Campusnow we're talkin. distilled turn of the millennium show really.
>>215337015> A "horror" movie> WITHOUT Christopher Lee
>>215337180Hollywood reviewers won't give you a his review if you don't pay for it
>>215337375You do better to take a script from an existing movie and try to analyze it. How many lines per page? How many of those lines are there just to give them a reason to go to the next scene or establish something the viewer needs to know? How many jokes, etc. For horror especially keep track of the scares/kills. How many pages between kills/scares howany overall etc then try to use that as your blueprint. The logistics of filming are going to a whole nother matter but you won't regret having made it
>>215337412I loved this movie as a kid
>>215337628My wife never wears makeup and she's beautiful
>>215337628No they're prettier without makeup
>>215337770Ssssssss
>>215339571Quite literally. And watching the old stuff reminds you of how it's supposed to be which is bad. Pretty soon they're going to start saying watching movies from before COVID makes you a Nazi>>215339584Peak early childhood memories. That and when goosebumps had fruit roll up tie ins
>>215339571You have to discuss >nothing but OLD movies and talk shit on NEW movies because NEW & POPULAR thing = BAD
>>215339851>They're going to make Alf Jewish with AI
>>215339916Your movie isn't popular, shill
>>215339916I'm interested in PEAKand peak kino just happens to be old most the timeNot my fault it's like that, but it is
>>215340039I wasn't the one who posted it, ya dweeb
>>215340061hmmm
>>215340128>1999-2071Those are the dates between which all the future dystopias happen
alright boys I got one in the oven for us
>>215340175mein fuhrer...
>>215340061That's weird, I actually just finished watching that film. And yeah, I have to agree. Old is usually better these days because a) modern filmmakers lack vision and talent, and b) every story has been re-packaged ad infinitum.
>>215340218nta but it's great. so many creative ideas but neatly packaged.
NEW THREAD >>215340242>>215340242>>215340242>>215340242>>215340242
Watched The Night of The Hunter for the first time while at the kinema, lads. Enjoyable film but shit, I now understand how much a good audience can make or break the theatre experience. The fucking normalfags and crusty ass half in the bag vintage film festival boomers were laughing during inappropriate/serious scenes and around halfway through the movie some fuckwit behin me started sniffing his nose every minute reptitively until I eventually had to move seats. I think it probably didn't help that Kimd Hearts and Coronets was screened prior to Hunter and so most people were already "primed" for dark comedic moments, but most of the time I was wishing they would just stfu. Anyway good movies. I also got to catch Freaks two night ago at the same film fest.
