Watched The Night of The Hunter for the first time while at the kinema, lads. Enjoyable film but I now understand how much a good audience can make or break the theatre experience. The fucking normalfags and crusty ass half in the bag boomers at the film festival were laughing during inappropriate/serious scenes and around halfway through the movie some fuckwit behind me started sniffing his nose every minute reptitively until I eventually had to move seats. I think it probably didn't help that Kind Hearts and Coronets was screened prior to Hunter and so most people were already "primed" for dark comedic moments, but most of the time I was wishing they would just stfu. Anyway good movies. I also got to catch Freaks two night ago at the same film fest.

I think it's because doing things irl with other people is less common so while twenty years before you're looking at a dumb psychopath who does that, now it's just an ignorant psychopath
It's the same thing with phones, the people turning them on in the middle of the film really think nobody notices, because they legit can't notice anything that's not their phone. Like people fully spend two hours looking at the wrong screen and leaving feeling like they watched the movie

It Follows and V/H/S/Beyond strike the same chord. It's the same lubricious madness, bathing in blood, the Universe seeping in and not necessarily making sense. It takes on the form of the divine feminine, possibly with implications that the Universe itself is a woman in a Spinozian pantheist sense and that The Entity (1982) is her avatar, out of place in our Apollonian patriarchal world. In the case of It Follows, it was pure “scratch the Universe and who knows what the fuck will come out”.
For tasteless /hor/tards that prefer the original, V/H/S/Beyond just looks like a bunch of robot Indian women (gay) dancing to a soundtrack that isn't black metal, and that's as deeply as they engage with it. Shocking that these Cheeto-y chuds don't get it; as years go by, it will be re-evaluated as one of the best horror films in cinema history, while the themes I've mentioned will be explored further in books and scholarly journals.

>That festival sounds awesome
It's pretty neat. Takes place in an "atmospheric theatre" that was built back in the early '30s and maintained to be as it was back then. There are even old photos in the lobby of audiences in the same theatre almost 100 years ago. Been going for several years now and they tend to aim for a decent variety of genres and decades. They even do a couple of silent screenings yearly and bring in a pianist who plays along. I complained about the audience but I really do appreciate the work that goes into it all and the volunteers. There's even a person who sponsors a free popcorn stand for the entire weekend. They've already announced a tentative list for next year, as far as /hor/ related there is Dracula 1931, Carrie, and Antonioni's Blow Up which I have never seen but plan to wait the full year to get the full kino experience.
>>
>>215341058
>atmospheric theatre"
That's so cool. I got a membership to an art cinema because they do shit like that (going to see Roger Corman productions the next few days)
The audience changes depending on what they're doing. More mainstream and arty ones get way more people who use their phone and obviously aren't interested in the movie, but when they show schlock it's normally an audience that wants to see the shitty movie. It's kind of funny because if anything shows up where you're like
>That is a deep cut for the hardcore autist fan
generally the audience is so well behaved you could believe you're in Japan
I'm sure they make their money on the more mainstream stuff where posting the ticket on social media is their fav part, but when they show schlock or some documentaries (or lesbian date night movies for some reason) it's got really comfy audiences
>>
Gonna watch The Strangers: Chapter 2 tonight. Did I think chapter 1 was a good movie? No. Did I dislike it as much as everybody else seemed to? No. Am I well aware that chapter 2 is going to be stupid? Yes.

>Antonioni's Blow Up

Saw it last week, it's great, slow and meditative, eerily quiet and pretty haunting. It's the type of film you just don't see anymore. It's also the film that finally killed the Hays Code.

Slogs in the middle a bit. The horror content and nudity is front and back ended. Shame, because it's fun when it's doing its kills, it's creative with it's lighting and cinematography and the effects are pretty good, but that middle section is rather dry. If only they worked more in to the middle.

I haven't seen the 1979 film "The Brood" by David Cronenberg. I think it's bloody body horror. Pretty gross and violent, and if I watched it with my mother, then I'm pretty sure she'd walk out of the room. There's a fan-made music video (titled "Skrillex - Kill Everybody // VIDEO") which has scenes from this movie:

Watched 3 more horror movies. It's time again for my pointless brief thoughts on them. Here's hoping the webm at least draws some attention.

>Scared Shitless
This is just pure fun & entertainment. Ogg is great as always, and I haven't seen Doheny in anything since Adventures In Public School. Similar roles in a way, and he knows how to play them. If you don't like this movie, then you must not like fun creature movies because this has it in spades. 100% recommended.
>Found Footage 3D
Above average FF movie, but too long at 100 minutes. It takes shots at and pokes fun at the genre, while inevitably falling into those exact things. I'd say it's more for the fans of the genre than anyone else. I didn't fully buy in right away, but never disliked any of it.
>The Possession Of Michael King
It's okay. I find it funny that the dude speedruns getting possessed and then is surprised when he starts experiencing the effects. The kinky couple tricking him into their fetish was both funny and weird. There's one scene that would definitely cause epileptic seizures in some. Probably won't be liked by non-FF Chads.

This Dean Koontz book is about a dog and ape which were given relatively much greater intelligence. The ape ended up angry and living an existence of suffering and attacking people. Like Planet of the Apes, but only one ape. Sounds kinda scary or interesting.

Didn't know until today that "The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" from netflix changed its title to "Monster" and the third season is about Ed Gein
>The first season, The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, focuses on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (Evan Peters) and was released on Netflix on September 21, 2022. Initially conceived as a limited series, it was renewed for second and third seasons in November 2022. The second season, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, centers on the murder case of the Menendez brothers (Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Lyle Menendez and Cooper Koch as Erik Menendez) and was released on September 19, 2024. The third season, Monster: The Ed Gein Story, focuses on murderer Ed Gein (Charlie Hunnam) and was released on October 3, 2025. A fourth season, starring Ella Beatty as murder suspect Lizzie Borden, is currently in production. --wikipedia

>During World War II, Pitt and her mother were imprisoned in the Stutthof concentration camp in Sztutowo, Free City of Danzig but escaped.
Based.
>>
>>215345364
>Ingrid Pitt's father, a German scientist of Russian descent, often misidentified as Jewish, was wanted by the German government to assist with work on military projects, but he refused to help the Nazi programme to develop rockets. Pitt's Polish mother was of Jewish descent. During the Holocaust, Ingrid and her mother were imprisoned for three years at Stutthof concentration camp near Danzig (now Gdansk, Poland). Stutthof was primarily a forced labour camp, and most of the prisoners there were non-Jews. One day, taken into a forest to be shot, Ingrid and her mother managed to escape and were rescued by Partisans, with whom they lived rough during the last year of the war. After the war, they searched for Ingrid's father, and her older sister, Brigitte (who had been sent to a separate camp). The four were eventually reunited but Pitt's father was a broken man who died five years later.
>ngrid became a member of Bertolt Brecht's Berliner Ensemble theatre company. When she got into trouble for criticising the communist authorities, she made her escape to the west, aided by a US marine officer, Roland Pitt. The two wed but, after living for a period on a military base in Colorado, they divorced (although she kept her married surname) and she returned to Europe with her daughter, Steffanie. Ingrid would become a grandmother by Steffanie, who bore a son.

Spoilers:

I just watched "The Brood" (1979) via the tranny-run Internet Archive
>https://dn710201.ca.archive.org/0/items/Popcornarchive-theBrood1979/Popcornarchive-theBrood1979.mp4
It was somewhat thought-provoking and it seems it wasn't as gory or violent or blood as I thought it would be. Maybe that music video made me think of it as worse than it was. You see three people get beat to death with blunt force trauma by deformed children; yes it's as bloody as you would expect, and the end is something of a bloodbath.

The brood are children of the wife's rage, and they are subconsciously and consciously commanded by her to kill her mother and father. Nola, the wife, also has a girl whom she suspects is cucking her killed. Nola is an insane and bad woman. The movie is like "The Shining" (1980) but instead of threats of murder from father to son, it's threats of murder from mother to daughter.

The brood may have been an inspiration for gooblers in "Solar Opposites" >>215342800. For example, red goobler pops out when that species of alien experiences enough stress and anger in a given amount of time. "Solar Opposites" is a pretty dumb sitcom other than the parts that I liked; too many of its episodes felt like I just got a lecture from the Leftism 101 class. "Solar Opposites" might be in the same narrative universe as "Rick and Morty", but I'm not sure. I think the first ~5 episodes suggest that it's in the Rick and Morty universe. vid unrelated

The mental illness of the wife leads to her own suffering. Instead of accepting that she is worthy of love, she rejected the idea and lashed out at her husband. She was "trapped in her own darkness" >>215342923 and fated to be a monster, never having overcome her childhood trauma. At the end the husband was probably trying to play her, and I think the point was she was past the point of no return days/months ago. Say the ending was different and she took her husband's word. Even though they would probably no longer be wife and husband, maybe there'd still be hope for recovery and she would take the "path of evil" anymore.

"The Brood" shows body horror of a woman and children. It shows body horror lite with that man who had daddy issues. Attached image: body horror with a woman.

*and she wouldn't take the "path of evil" anymore

Some "otherworldly" shit was happening in that movie, so like I said, that wasn't a possibility.

Rip off of already-existing famous Disney movies or that 3D animated movie "Frozen" and add sex/rape scenes. That would be pretty jarring or horrifying. Mediocre artists create, but great or excellent artist steal.

seed it too, at least to a ratio of 15.01

True. It's almost cheating though since it's a shot for shot remake by the same director
