Sci-fi drama

Together was actually pretty good. The biggest downsides were the fact that Dave Franco simply cannot act, he's just offputting and terrible in almost every way (Brie does all the heavy lifting imo). The ending is almost comical too which kinda ruins everything... I mean the central premise is pretty dumb as is, but at least they keep it engaging. The final shot is a pisstake though.

dang in the 90s we almost got a The Mummy project that passed hands from Romero to Mick Garris to Joe Dante with a Clive Barker script with Rick Baker monster design starring Christoper Lee and with support from Spielberg but Universal wouldn't make it for $25 million, their ceiling was $15 for non-mainstream horror. They even worked out a deal but then new ownership took over at Universal and cooked up a darker bloodier period script like Dracula but then new ownership again said nah let's make it a $80M PG-13 adventure which is what ended up as The Mummy 1999

the witch is pretty good through and through, in my opinion, and the conjuring is surprisingly comfy

other than that, i'd only watch one out of midsommar and hereditary (both have the same flaws imo), and then completely skip barbarian

what's (in your opinion) the funniest horror movie that's not meant to be humorous or satirical?
for me it's the mist. no hate here, i like it! it just feels very b-movie-ish lol. the lead actors are all so theatrical and over the top. ive rewatched the film a couple of times with friends and they all laughed big time at the sequence where the silent hill 1 monsters get in and that one guy sets himself on fire. literal comedy of errors.

It's just so forced in The Wolf Man that it pushes everything vaguely interesting OUT. There's no lore, no cool monster mechanics to explore, just thinly veiled hip politics. I am not even that guy most of the time, I also like Leigh Whannell in general, but this one excites my CHUD REFLEX because it is specifically designed to p0wn the "mysoginists." It's not good, and I dislike that birdy little woman so much I'm thinking of deleting Weapons before I watch it.

I'm trying to understand what you are getting at but I'm failing here. Do you not understand that a poster like that back in the 80's was manly AF but a chiseled dude showing off his body in a poster like that in current year is probably looking for other dudes?

It's the original Anon that says the posters was gay AF who is the zoomer. I'm saying the poster is kino although I would only rock it on a wall filled with other movies from the era. Today having just that poster on a wall filled by itself with nothing else absolutely would be kinda sus.

There was a Halloween comic strip that took place over 6 days, I think, where Garfield finds himself alone and the house empty. >Permanent Midnight is based on the autobiography of Jerry Stahl, a writer who worked on ALF and struggled with a severe heroin addiction
The writer of ALF was a heroin addict and apparently there's a scene my friend told me about where he's in the bathroom hallucinating ALF is outside the door. I never got around to actually watching it.

Nice. It's pretty dark for a Garfield comic. And it seems like there's 2 ways you could take that ending. When he yells "I don't want to be alone" and everything goes back to normal it was just him refusing to accept reality. Or, like the ending says, the whole thing was him imagining a "terrifying" future.

I finally started my horror viewing this year with my dad. We waited until closer to the 31st because there isn't much left we're capable of re-watching. We saw the original Halloween and The Descent today, tomorrow will be The Hills Have Eyes remake and Signs, which isn't much of a horror movie, but we wanted something with aliens. Maybe Hellraiser I & II during the week at some point. We decided to save The Thing for Christmas this time around. It's been my favorite movie since I was 15 and it's my dad's 2nd or 3rd favorite (after Aliens and Robocop). We must have seen it twice a year for the past 9 years. Anyway, I'm pretty wasted right now and wanted to share this with the board. It's days like this that remind you what it's all about.
