Night of the demons was kind of retarded bros.

>decent beginning/setup
>decent set
>decent makeup
>good practical effects

>worst acting of all time
>shit writing/dialogue
>not scary
>nothing interesting happens whatsoever
>the demon head thing that comes from the furnace is childish

I rate it 4/10 epic anon stars

This was fun, but it's not really a horror movie. Not sure why everyone always classifies it as one. It's more of a fantasy adventure thing.
Probably my least favorite of the Price/Poe films that I've seen, but seeing a young Jack Nicholson was a nice surpise.
>>
>>215557525
The part that always annoys me is that they clearly built an entire fake torso for that one possessed chick and all she does is stick something inside her nipple which doesn't even make sense and isn't really horrifying
>>
>>215557525.
Agree with the lighting, makeup, and set design being great.
The acting is fine, Linnea Quigely is basically the same in every movie.
It's a horror comedy.
Lipstick nipple and strobe light dance scene.

strobe light dance scene was funny because I had to actively imagine what they were going for based on my own experience in dancing in strobe light.

Like they could have just deleted frames of the movie to make the strobe effect come across on screen, but... they didnt, kind of cringe

I know I'm late to the party but I just watched Weapons and it was fucking lame. I get that it's a thinly veiled moral messaging about school shootings, but that was the least scary and gayest witchcraft I think I've ever seen in a movie, and it just comes across as everyone involved in the production being too scared of backlash to actually tackle the subject they obviously wanted to so they had behind a nearly comedic allegory instead.

it was pretty good fellas I can't deny it. I mean, it's overindulgent with del Toro's usual flaws so much so I was rolling my eyes in the first half but the gothic heart of Shelley's story hit me pretty hard by the end. monster fucker girlies are eating good again this year though I do think Egger's Nosferatu is a superior film and it's hard not to see this as The Shape of Water pt II - still can't believe we live in a world that won Best Picture
>>

also very funny to roll credits on a Lord Byron quote given the (misogynist) rumors he had a heavy hand in conceiving of the novel's themes

Uh no lad sorry, I think you misunderstand me. If they want to make a horror movie about a school shooting, they should make it. They should make it so the setup is the evil witch aunt possesses the kid and has him shoot up the school. And at the end, the real horror is that the kid regretted nothing, he wanted to do it anyway, the witchcraft was just a convenient excuse. And if they were really brave enough to explore the subject, maybe they might even communicate to us genuine reasons why he wanted to do it too besides the usual scapegoats. That's far more unnerving and far more interesting than a thinly veiled metaphor. They (the makers of the film) are unironically far more influenced by the thoughts of "twitter-chan-tube" than I am.
>>

No, he seems to think I watched some YouTube shitter like The Drunken Irishman or whatever he calls himself and am parroting his opinion. But if you want to try and convince me that Weapons is not a thinly veiled metaphor for a school shooting when it quite obviously is, I'd love to hear it. I'm not afraid of "the message". I think they were too scared of backlash to actually explore "the message" they wanted and the film suffers for it.
>>
>>215559256
do any of the kids even die in weapons? doesnt a school shooting usually mean kids die? are school shootings usually orchestrated by adults to siphon energy from the victims? i think you're reading too far into one or two scenes in the first act and extrapolating your headcanon over the rest of the movie

>>215559447
I think you have to be incredibly disingenuous or incredibly retarded to outright deny that there is no influence of the common sights of the aftermath of a school shooting in weapons, such as
>the memorial for the kids being extremely evocative of the ones in real life for real world instances
>the entire subject matter of how a bullied quiet kid is ultimately responsible for the terrible fate of his peers
>that same kid has a troubled home life and is known to the police and the faculty
>there is intense scrutiny over the police response and the faculty for the events leading up to, during and after the event
>the head of the faculty is far more concerned with "damage control" than the well being of his students and the community
>there is a fucking shot of an ar-15 in the goddamn sky referencing the assault rifle ban bill when this movie was being named
>did I mention the AR-15, the scapegoat gun for mass shootings, being IN THE NIGHTMARE DREAM SEQUENCE IN A MOVIE NAMED WEAPONS WHERE SCHOOL CHILDREN CEASE EXISTING ALL SIMULTANEOUSLY AT THEIR SCHOOL?
>the implication of traumatized kids who survived the event but carry that trauma for the rest of their lives and the fact that the perpetrator's parents are utterly mindbroken and irredeemably committed to a fate of being institutionalized
So yeah. That's my evidence. What's your evidence besides just calling me a midwit?
>>
>>215559828
I honestly don't know, I laughed my ass off though. It really did seem like parody, but with the shoehorned HECKIN RACISM subplot it might just be another case of Jews lacking self awareness. Maybe Pennywise will take the Jewish family for a ride on the holocoster in the next episode.

Okay, so a little fact about life. When people get caught with their pants down and regret things they have already done because of the way its received, or in hindsight they think it wasn't a good idea or a good look, or they just want to gaslight people in thinking that they are a 2 deep 4 u type of artiiiist, sometimes they retcon their creations or motivations with a lie. This is one of those times.

All I did was rewatch movies this month, really fucking love The Fly especially. Because it's so simple and efficient, most of the movie is on 1 set and it's only 90s minutes long, yet it achieves so much. Just makes you wish other movies could have the economy and precision

I've seen him act well like in Scenes From a Marriage but I think del Toro gave him poor directing here or maybe just bad casting for the role. now Christopher Waltz I could not take seriously with his Inglorious Bastards meme dialect but it's not a big role. still, both of them yeah, couldn't stop being aware I was watching the actors not the characters

Finished it. It didn't exactly hit the spot but it was really good. I like how it starts off relatively kind of lighthearted or even fun and then by the end he's just offing a teenager in cold blood. Up until that Ez is surprisingly sympathetic which did kinda fit what I was wanting in the "old man" character

>>
>>215560665
Not one bit. First one is classic and the second and fourth are kinda good but otherwise it is so very tired series

It's a cozy little watered down mystery plot and it has a hot woman as co-lead and ends with a great practical effects showcase. I love it.

>>
>>215557946
Sadly on the whole it's just not very good. Main bad guy is clearly from theatre and does well in respect of that, plus his makeup is kinda great - Subtly upsetting. But Edward Furlong annoyingly whining for half of the movie is just terrible and kills whatever promise it had. It's like and even worse drop dead fred which is really saying something. Also, spoilers, it was all a dream. bleh.

Women basically go catatonic in any older film the second a monster appears. But she did an amazing job, really sells it.

Return of the Living Dead has some pretty fast, smart zombies and it's the kind of film you'd think would have slow ones.

>Out There Halloween Mega Tape is not on streaming because it was released as a limited-edition physical media release, specifically a 2-Disc Deluxe Edition Blu-ray from Terror Vision. The film is a sequel to WNUF Halloween Special and is being sold directly to consumers as a collector's item rather than for digital distribution on streaming platforms.
>Collector's item: The limited nature of the release (only 2,000 copies) and the inclusion of bonus items indicate it is being positioned as a collector's item for fans.

What is this shit? They make it unavailable to stream so you have to buy it to watch it, and then they limit the number of copies to 2,000 so only a tiny number of people can watch it?

The director's original plan for WNUF 1 was to just leave unmarked tapes in public spaces and hope people would think it was a real thing but I guess he eventually figured nobody would ever see it that way. He did upload it to CG trying to pretend it was an authentic 80s program before he gave it a physical release.

Just finished. Maybe I was in the wrong mood for it, but I didn't like it at all. It's a spoof with no laughs and no ideas, and a sci-fi horror with no action. Everything about it is just dumb and awkward. It seems to have a budget for what it is, which is confusing. Special thanks are made to Harry Nilsson and Ringo Starr in the end credits and I can't imagine what their contributions must've been. The practical makeup is nice, but overall I hated this.

Why is Michael being ambiguous something that no one ever really gets? He's creepy in the first movie largely because of it, you have no idea what's really driving him. Every following piece of media has tried to explain him and it just lessens his impact

>possessed by the ghost of an Irish serial killer
>related to Laurie
>The Cult of Thorn
>abused white trash kid
>powered by negative emotions (?)

The 2018 one seemed to actually understand this but then immediately went ahead and undid it with Kills and Ends.
>>
>>215562716
I don't remember Kills spoiling it much. Even in Ends, the whole "power up by killing" is left ambiguous.
I like that scene where he stomps on the doctors head when he pleads for him to speak, it's a kind of physical response to the audiences desire to know what drives him.
People are always wanting more lore though. Art the Clown is kind of similar, the strength of the first movie is the lack of backstory, and the rest of them is an extremely convoluted fantasy backstory.
