Our first class starts now and goes on for a week. Next scheduled class will be the week thereafter starting 10th november. The movies for that week will be towards the weekend.

During this week we'll watch and discuss 9 movies picked by a representant (me). The movies for this week are:
>Them! - 1954
>Blue Thunder - 1983
>Madame Web - 2024
>Meet John Doe - 1941
>Death and the Maiden - 1994
>Yi Yi - 2000
>Dreams That Money Can Buy - 1947
>Oleanna - 1994
>The Lobster - 2015

To encourage discussion there will be a few questions for each movie but for now let yourself ponder on what these movies have in common (hint it's not political!). The next post will have these questions. Let the discussions begin!
>>
Them!
>Was the scientific explanation of the size of the ants satisfying?
>How does Them! compare to the other "Kaiju" movies from its era?
>Have you ever killed an ant? If so, how did it feel?

Blue Thunder
>Was if fair of Murphy to involve and endager Kate by having her deliver the tape?
>What are your thoughts on the helicopter chase and how did it compare other flight chases like Top Gun or Star Wars?
>Would you ever 10pm a yoga dancer if you were a pilot?

Madame Web
>Which actress impressed you the most with her acting?
>Why is it always spiders? Why not snakes?
>Was the villian morally correct to defend his existance or should he accept his destiny?

Meet John Doe
>How long do you reckon Gary Cooper is? Would the movie feel the same if he was 5'7''?
>How does Barbara Stynwycks character mesh with the Journalist's Creed?
>Does power make John Doe happier?

Death and the Maiden
>Why did Roberto Miranda drive out to the house in the middle of the night for the second time?
>Is "the memories of performing evil deeds" enough punishment for someone who supported a fascistic regime or should they be hanged?
>If you were Ben Kinsley would you insist on being a method actor and demand having Weavers real panties stuffed into your mouth?

Yi Yi
>What's your thoughts on the 50% of the story you didn't get to see?
>How did you like the video game depiction of the commited crime?
>Which character are you?
Dreams That Money Can Buy
>Which dream episode was your favourite and why?
>Would you buy a dream?
>Did you spot any elements of the movie which have influenced another director?

Oleanna
>Both of the characters did talk the talk, but did they walk the walk?
>Do you agree with Carols motives?
>What did John do to escalate the situation and could he have done something to prevent it?

The Lobster
>What animal would you choose and why?
>Do you buy the concept of pairing pairs based on their weaknesses?
>Where the depiction of autism fair and accurate?
>>
>for now let yourself ponder on what these movies have in common
Yes, you guessed it! These movies are all about dreams, desires, fantasies, politics and science, and that's what they got in common.

ok, ok, you got me, I have no clue what they have in common, I haven't seen many of them and googled some of the questions

Well, whatever, I have stuff to do for some time now, I'll bounce into the thread once in a while to see if you guys are discussing or not. Hopefully you've done your lesson and have plenty to discuss. They're all great movies. Sydney Sweeney is in one of them, and Colin Farrell if you're a fag. And they have good action and cool effects and all that. Lots of ants and shit going on. Should be plenty to discuss. Keep it clean or else I'll have to report you to the principal justice department. Over and out!

I think this diddy blud is Epstein

>During this week we'll watch and discuss 9 movies picked by a representant (me).

>9

>this week

Not gonna happen. Three max, and dump it in /film/ if you want anyone to participate.

>Madame Web
Lol, why?

I'd like to suggest this film (pic related); what do you think?
>>
>>215674457
Good idea but it's too much movies.
>>
>>215675218
>madame web, why?
it's modern slop, most anons have seen it and can perhaps compare it to the rest of the movies in some way, like for instance with Them! in how the movies represent insects/spiders/ants or maybe with Dreams That Money Can Buy given the antagonist is having a nightmare about his death
>>
>>215675147
>>215675262
ok, I should have used the word "up" as in "up to 9 movies".. if you've only seen one of these but still want to discuss it, feel free to do so, I mean, if you have interesting thoughts on one movie no one will question if you have seen the other movies
>>
We had a setup thread a few days ago >>215585327 .. some of you promised to show up. I'm counting on you..

>>215675218
>I'd like to suggest this film (pic related); what do you think?
I haven't seen it. I think it's rather ignorant of you to suggest a new movie when we already have 9 with plenty of food for discussion. Your post as a whole points out several reasons why film clubs on /tv/ are bound to fail. It's stupifying, egoistic and pessimistic. Try to discuss the subject of matter, any of the 9 movies in OP, be a bit tolerant and perhaps you get the chance to have your movie as a discussion subject another week..
>>
>>215675279
>most anons have seen it
lol
>>
>>215675478
ok, ok.... let me rephrase myself again. I'd wager it's either the most or one of the most seen movies among the 9 we're discussing today. I guess I could've chosen any modern slop and you guys would complain because that's the only way you know how to discuss.

>Them!
>Was the scientific explanation of the size of the ants satisfying?
No
>How does Them! compare to the other "Kaiju" movies from its era?
Meh
>Have you ever killed an ant? If so, how did it feel?
Maybe, idk

>Blue Thunder
>Was if fair of Murphy to involve and endager Kate by having her deliver the tape?
Perhaps
>What are your thoughts on the helicopter chase and how did it compare other flight chases like Top Gun or Star Wars?
idk
>Would you ever 10pm a yoga dancer if you were a pilot?
Only if she was hot.

>Madame Web
>Which actress impressed you the most with her acting?
eeeh, Emma Roberts? at least she was good at faking a pregnacy
>Why is it always spiders? Why not snakes?
It would be cooler if the guy was a snake who constricted his victims but I guess it'd be way harder to do the cgi.
>Was the villian morally correct to defend his existance or should he accept his destiny?
idk.

>>215675594
no sweat buddy,I haven't watched any either, and tbf, there ain't many of them which looks interesting, I'd say only Death and the Maiden, Blue Thunder and Dreams That Money Can Buy seems watchable as the rest doesn't meet the standards of my smellfell festtest

>Death and the Maiden
>Why did Roberto Miranda drive out to the house in the middle of the night for the second time?
he wanted free pizza
>Is "the memories of performing evil deeds" enough punishment for someone who supported a fascistic regime or should they be hanged?
only if they think they got free pizza
>If you were Ben Kinsley would you insist on being a method actor and demand having Weavers real panties stuffed into your mouth?
maybe, hmmm, I mean, it's panties, maybe I could convince the director to let a really super hot model wear them, maybe then

>Yi Yi
>What's your thoughts on the 50% of the story you didn't get to see?
idk
>How did you like the video game depiction of the commited crime?
no clue what this question is about
>Which character are you?

>>
>>215675717
>>215674471

>The Lobster
>What animal would you choose and why?
a flamingo
>Do you buy the concept of pairing pairs based on their weaknesses?
yes and no
>Where the depiction of autism fair and accurate?

ok.. I got answered all the questions, fuck they're stupid, what do I win?
>>
