Just finished. Spiritual sequel to >>215894489. Same director, lot of the same cast, similar premise, only about 45 minutes long. Spoilers for both movies:where the first one was an indie slasher film crew stumbling upon a band of actual cannibal serial killers on a shoot, this one is the crew stumbling onto the set of a snuff movie. These are really sweet and light hearted movies and I'm happy I accidentally discovered them tonight. I thought the chubby girl in the lead was kinda cute too, lol

They think that by virtue signalling they can hide or alleviate the burden of their sins like confessing in a church confessional, but the truth always comes out eventually.

Finally got this one out of the way, lol. Ikenie Man and Harawata Man were so light that they kinda got me in the mood for something grim. Was surprised the main villain was a cast member from Harawata, apparently he's in a lot of Shiraishi stuff but I've only seen Noroi before. Hilarious that this one is one of this more popular movies, it's so unpleasant, lmfao. I bet most of the people who see it don't know the lead actress is a porn star, either. For what it is it's pretty damn good, but boy is it grimy
Does anyone have decent quality pictures of those illustrationsof Pennywise from the 1990 version of It?Like when the kids are looking at Mike's album and it shows Pennywise outide the Black Spot fire etc.
>>215897291Grotesque has the most ridiculous reason by the villain and the movie is just amazing because of that.>Was surprised the main villain was a cast member from Harawata, apparently he's in a lot of ShiraishiShigeo Osako is the main character of the Senritsu Kaiki File series, and he's amazing in them.
What the fuck was that stupid 217 AK-47 in the sky for?!totally the corniest thing in an almost perfect movie. Worse than the witch's makeup.

FF is fucking garbage, i regret wasting my time watching a lot of it this october. The only great one is [REC].
I finally saw Possession 1981. Like the Substance, the main actress acting retarded and hysterical really just felt like she was playing herself which gave the movie a very grounded feeling. Actresses playing roles of retarded and hysterical characters always comes off as natural and realistic as opposed to when they brave and intelligent characters.
>>215901080Thank you.

Just finished. Horrible! This has been on my watchlist forever, the title and cover making it an "I must watch this some day or another" despite me not being that excited about it. It's full, the few kills are boring except one, there's only one cute girl and she's not that cute, and I found the lead annoying and ugly. The score is cool though. The kicker? Spoiler:the killer is a Holocaust survivor getting revenge on old people who turned his family in to the Nazis. Give me a fucking break. Worst part is I called it based on nothing but the killer leaving recordings for the victims of incinerators and dobermans barking. The original title is The Cat with Jade Eyes, which to the best of my observation has nothing to do with anything.
>>215903966I meant to put that in actual spoiler tags. Oops. Believe me, you're not missing anything.

Just finished. Another wacky little less than an hour long Japanese feature i found on Tubi and had never heard of. I'm really enjoying these. They're clearly low budget but passionately put together and sincere no matter he own silly they otherwise seem. This one is about a married couple where the husband has started to have inexplicable seizures and is speaking in tongues. where it ends up is so stereotypically Japanese that it seems like a joke.
By Grabthar's hammer, more Mia Goth please!

Rereading my initial thoughts on "Frankenstein" and this is how I reworded them: My major grip with Guillermo Del Toro’s “Frankenstein” (2025) is that it is a movie that starts more than it can resolve; nonetheless, it is an almost three hour long epic film that brings new life, and new interpretations, to Mary Shelley’s groundbreaking 1818 novel. But, as I said, it bites off more than it can chew when the audience are fed through a longwinded, meandering mess of intestines that borders into romance, psychological terror, aestheticism, and then a humble origin story of the Creature's version of events. It switches perspectives and rearranges the corpse of Mary Shelley's novel for its own sick purposes. I will warn horror fans and avid Shelley scholars to go in with an open mind and wide eyes. Because there are many liberties taken with the source material—which is what we expect from an auteur like Del Toro. But let’s talk about what Del Toro is actually trying to do. In some sense, Del Toro makes a more compelling case for the Creature as capable of human faculties; we see that it learns at an alarming rate when Victor Frankenstein is not trying to force it to learn. Instead, it requires the tenderness and nurturing of a blind farmer, who adopts it. Just do not go into “Frankenstein” (2025) expecting a 1:1 reproduction; instead, you will find that many of the characters and plots and themes have been rearranged and sewed together in a monstrous patchwork. Much like the Creature from the original novel, you will find that appendages and organs have been sutured onto another host. This blend of cadavers is not, despite its length, a massive mess. To me, it is something much simpler, even profound. It is a vanitas painting, in the still life tradition, that comments on the futility of creation in the face of death. Del Toro is reflecting: what is the point of art when we all die?
>>215910089It has more in common with Wicker Man than Witch, right down to the movie starting off with the main male protagonist arriving in a small commune living off the grid who are all secretly practicing paganism and subsequently getting killed by them in a ritual sacrifice at the end by getting burned alive inside a statue/building. The only real difference is that it's now a group of friends as the outsiders instead of just one man. Ari Aster was like in his mid 30s when he made that film there's no way he had never heard or seen of The Wicker Man before The Witch. Witch barely has anything in common with Wicker Man if we're being honest here other than that they're both folk horrors which there exist others of outside of Wicker the ending isn't even similar at all.
