I gotta say this "The Diddler" character isn't very scary considering he can't kill a single person in 2 movies, even when given Freddy Krueger powers.

Pretty okay. They filmed at Kelly Gulch Log Cabin, which was also the filming location for the Jarvis family home in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. It's a nice flick if you want to söyface over the cabin and see the differences of it what it looked like before and what it looks like now.

I watched the Japanese "horror" film Marronnier last month and somehow finished it. I hate that shaky amateur shot-on-video era and this was extra obnoxious with its delirious blurry glow filters and constantly moving camera, pushing in on faces, flipping and zooming, hundreds of cross-dissolve cuts like a fever dream.

the film itself though like a pretty wacky and bizarre horror episode of Power Rangers, creepy dolls with rictus human teeth, chop-suey limbs with blood fountains rag doll corpses etc

Bava purposely shot it in black and white instead of color because he wanted to make it super gothic and atmospheric like the classics and he succeeded.
Plus it has the gore that wasn't allowed in American horrors back then.

Daughters of Darkness was cool. Great colors, cinematography, costumes. Story sometimes moves at a glacial pace, I think you have to be in the right mood for it. Seyrig out acts everyone else, but that also fits with her character's nature and goals. Also a few bizarre moments but I thought they worked well for the mysterious nature of this movie. Music was also great. This is like an 8/10 for me, I guess.
>>

I love Carnival of Souls a lot. There is so much about it, that it was made outside of Hollywood by such a ragtag group that somehow stumbled into making kino like that on a shoestring budget. The almost Lynchian etherealness and weirdness to it. The Twilight Zone twist, all of it. Such a great film and I am always seeking out stuff with a similar vibe and "pedigree".

I've been meaning to see That Haunting for a long time. The OG Living Dead is great, too. Perfect Halloween night type of movie, late at night after winding everything down when you are bleary eyed and half in the bag.
>>215982432
Little Shop of Horrors and Bucket of Blood are cool if you like Corman. But it's hard to top Vincent Price, that's for sure. Loved seeing him paired up with Peter Lorre in one of those Poe adaptations. Two of the greatest character actors ever, to the point that after all these years later people still know who they are without having even seen a single picture they were in. But yeah, black and white is a real aesthetic anon, enjoy your journey. Also The Old Dark House was great, a similar picture to it, although not as steeped in horror, is Arsenic and Old Lace. Absolutely hilarious film. Going even less horror but the same sort of morbid screwball humour, I never see Kind Hearts and Coronets mentioned on /tv/ and it's a hoot.

Sorry I missed your post, anon. I just finished watching a crappy copy of The Sinister Urge(1960), the title which is commonly deemed the last "real" Ed Wood movie before he switched over to full-on cheap porn exploitation flicks. Honestly, you should probably start with Plan 9 and then decide from there whether you like it or not. There's a reason it's his most famous "bad" movie and is probably the most accessible. If you enjoy it whether ironically, sincerely, or some mix of the two, then I recommend you go through his horror movies in order. There is a loose chronology to them, bridged by the same well-meaning but stupid, likeable cop appearing in all three. But it's nothing serious, of course. There are also the two crime/noir films he did, Jail Bait and The Sinister Urge. For some reason The Sinister Urge is the hardest of the bunch to find in decent quality and was left off the common DVD set releases out there. I finally gave up and decided to watch the shitty online version from a Spanish VHS rip.

And, to the main, selfish point of this post: If any anons know of an active torrent for the Criterion Visions of Ed Wood set, PLEASE HELP FRENS
>>
>>215983944
On the surface level, it has some of that. Slightly underneath though it's obviously a criticism of liberal white people, which is marginally more unique.
Anyway I thought it sucked. As a film directorially, it's ok, but you have to be an American identity politics junkie to think it's interesting. I'm not American so my thoughts were "That's it? Seriously?"

People calling Us or Nope white people bad movies are full of shit, but Get Out is 100% that. It's the entire premise.
If you want to know before having to watch (full spoiler): a rich white family lures black people one at a time to their secluded estate using their daughter as bait so they can sell them off at auction for other white people to have their brains transplanted into. The hero figures this out and kills them all.. It's probably the most anti white horror movie ever made.

ok just finished it. kek you weren't wrong about the cuts.
I don't think that was the problem with it though... the plot was just all over the place and was just as frantic. I'm guessing they got a story board from Junji Ito and were like "he's a genius, lets cram this shit into 90m!"
I was actually creeped out by the end though. the idea that she was imagining escaping, but actually was strung up and trapped inside her mind.

Seeing the girls in giallos all old is depressing.
But seeing girls from 2000s all walled now is depressing too. Girls legit turn 21 and look 32+ in less than 6 months.

I watched some movie in 2000s and can't remember it. There was some girl in white long dress just like Carrie 1978 and she screams. Group of teenagers follows her and they want to help her somehow but she is a threat to them with her screams. I remember last scene where she sits on some boulder and one guy is trying to sneak on her but he trips over a tin can. Can rolls loudly. Girl slowly turns her head looking at the guy and she doesn't scream now.
>>
>>215986499

I'll give you a serious answer. What you're describing vaguely reminds me of Dead End. It's not all teenagers, it's a family with a few teenagers. There's a screaming woman they try to help but she's all mysterious and goofy. It's a good movie, even if it isn't the one you're thinking of it'll be a fun watch.
>>
Just finished. It's by an established horror director (Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl, Lust of the Dead), but I don't know that I would call this a horror movie, even with the several dismemberments mixed into it. It feels like a blackpilled video essay for the first third, and mainly stays focused on sexual politics til the end. A lot of the jap horror stuff I've been throwing on my watchlist have multiple pornstars in them, shrug
>>
>>215986826
Japanese? Does it have the weird pixel pussy thing? Hate that.
>>
>>215986826
>muh scissor
>>
>>215986840
It's not a porno movie. It's about a guy who catches his wife cheating and murders her, then spontaneously grows three samurai swords where his dick should be. Most of the movie video essay style pontification on the nature of the relationship between men and women, but settles into the guy running around not sure what's real or a dream. Structurally the closest thing I can compare it to is Miike's Izo. Strictly for open-minded types, aka people who weren't pissed off by Skinamarink, lol
>>
>>215986826
It's a pretty based jap movie and speaks a ton of facts.
>>
>>215986904
>people who weren't pissed off by Skinamarink
Wrong. I really enjoyed Scissor Penis and also found Skinamarink to be one of the most boring movies I've ever seen.

That reminds me of a pretty good and actually creepy movie I saw on streaming. Can't even remember if it was Japanese or Korean. Something like Suddenly In The Night? Suddenly In The Dark? Anyway it was about this butterfly collector guy and his wife hiring a housemaid. Housemaid is young and pretty, so the wife feels insecure and has weird jealous schizo visions. Neat movie.

>Arsenic and Old Lace. Absolutely hilarious film. Going even less horror but the same sort of morbid screwball humour, I never see Kind Hearts and Coronets mentioned on /tv/ and it's a hoot.
The Ladykillers is another great screwball near horror with Alec Guinness too. Harvey isn't fave of the era where it should be considered horror but it's too funny and morally consistent to be like that rabbit fucked some people the fuck up The Trouble with Harry has some of that too but the other two have a lot more of
>things are slowly creeping towards the moral conclusion and evil should be careful of fate final destinationing them
I think there's so many great ones where you're like, that's a kill count higher than Hamlet in this barely PG comedy movie at the time because keeping a lot of the horror off screen meant broader audiences, but all of them are comedies where the basic premise should keep you awake at night

Morning hor bros
Over the weekend I had the misfortune of watching Swallow. Not only is it a dull movie, it's not even a horror movie, nor a psychological thriller as it's billed. It's a bad pro-abortion drama with cartoonishly evil male characters. Avoid at all costs. Luckily I followed that up with Eyes of Fire which I'd never seen, really enjoyed that one.
