what a time for /trek/ with so much quality OC and gold pressed dankitum memes like star trek sex with shran
the Breen are way too cool to be associated with Al GoreThere are a few men who are so uncool that they create a singularity of uncoolness which threatens everything around them and a lot of them end up in politics in my experience>Al Gore>Jeb Bush>Mitch Mcconnell
>>216002691the Breen are only cool cuz they are an enigma if you got to actually know them they might be cringe you don't know
>>216002704Probably rightThat's definitely how it was about the Borg. Way more interesting when we knew less about them.First Contact and VOY really beat the dead horse with the Borg. And then ENT dredged them up and beat them a little more.
>>216002630That's a really shitty op image
>>216002640Updated version https://vocaroo.com/1kCC0kjBGYVU
>>216002785YOU are shitty
>>216002805lmao the singer sounds absolutely insane. reflects my true feelings. thank you slopera anon you always make me laugh
>>216002630Statfleet has unis for desert climates but I dont remember seeing anything for jungle or cold weather.
>>216002845i'm so tempted to go read this chapter just to see Bob Blackman's explanation about these one-off weird desert uniforms. they're so strange like why would Starfleet design these that look nothing like uniforms but just have a single color stripe. does any other military make extremely specialized uniforms for every climate?
I've been rewatching Zorro and the guy who plays Shakaar, the guy who plays Chakotay's dad, and Martok's actor are good in it.
>>216002845Jungle uniform.
>>216002839>lmao the singer sounds absolutely insanethat's because I've trained the dukat persona to be insane. It's basically like a cross between punnet squares and improv sketch structure

If you had to make kanar what would you make it with?
>>216003701
>>216003701figs and anise
>>216003701As an actual homebrewer, I'd probably make a high-gravity raisin or possibly prune wine, age it in oak for a long time and add hops or some sort of aromatic bittering herb in barrel. The reason for the latter is that Garak found root beer cloying and vile, so Kanar can't be as sweet as root beer. Honestly I'm feeling tarragon. Tarragon infused raisin/prune wine is absolutely what I'm envisoning when I imagine the taste of kanar.
>>216003701It’s Malta Goya, which is essentially liquid vegemite.
>>216003817malta is just unfermented malt, if it were alcoholic it would just be beer
>>216003802>Tarragon infused raisin/prune winesounds....interesting
>>216003920the combination of precision barbarism, austere refinement and arrogant pride that is the cardassian culture, reminds me of the flavor compounds of tarragon. Bold, in your face, complex but with an underlying unpleasant tinge, with a lingering taste that makes you reluctant to forget. Tarragon is absolutely baller with green plums, lamb and georgian wite wine in a slow-braised dish. So I don't hate on tarragon (or cardassians). But it's not a subtle botanical nor is it a gentle botanical. You can make it smooth, with a little maceration, and you get the unctuous, viscous charm of Gul Dukat. But you can't make it subtle or understated. Tarragon: the official herb of Cardassia Prime.
I don't think Kanar should have a strong taste, if it's going to be a reflection of the Cardassian people anyway. They're grey people who basically worship the state in that soulless Chinese way. When Garak discusses Cardie literature it's all about self-sacrifice for the state, over and over again, forever. That to me speaks of a bland cough syrupy kind of drink, like Jaegermeister without the spice.
>>216003701Prune juice, grain alcohol and Xanax.
>>216004040i agree with this anon. bland Jaejer. that's exactly what Kanar is like
>>216002630Odo at the end of ds9
>>216004040>They're grey people who basically worship the state in that soulless Chinese way. They don't, though. They do worship the state, but they are a passionate people, and a sadistic people, and a brooding paternalistic people. They are fatalistic but not nihilistic. They value their art and culture and education system in an arrogant, Dionysian way. They are still about the will to power and not the fulfillment of a static dharma or heavenly mandate. If anything they are very similar to early Imperial rome with its state cult and paterfamilias. WHICH IS WHY THE O-7 AND ABOVE WERE CALLED LEGATES
>>216004074The ending of DS9 doesn't get enough criticism>all of that shit about Kira and Odo, the great love story>just completely abandons kira in the end>Sisko just completely abandoning his family to go live outside of space time for a while to do... something???
>>216004090All of that is true but that's the secret of Cardassian culture. Like Klingons, they put forth a sort of false ideal about themselves. With the Klingons it's honor, with the Cardassians its undying loyalty to the state. The reality is that almost all of them prioritize personal ambition over the state but it's the lie they keep telling themselves and I think Kanar would be a reflection of that.
>>216004106it's amazing that they kept it afloat for as long as they did, the ratings were shit
>>216004090Why was Dukat called a gul throughout the series though? Even when he was a pariah with no rank?
>>216004106DS9 is about found family and sometimes family drifts apart. It's like those montages at the end of 80's movies with like "Beefers became Senator from Ohio. Valley Forge is a struggling dry cleaner in Burnaby, BC. NTT won the lottery and died of cancer the next day. In 2069, Pizzanon was elected Pope in the infamous Star Trek Sex With Shran Conclave." Odo went to his people. Sisko got called away on a cosmic TDY. Bashir died of BPD Trillussy about 20 minutes after the credits
>>216004139Gul means captain (O5) and person in charge of the ship (maybe they don't have the word for skipper)
>>216004144That's a retarded cop out. Sisko's story was never about "how family drifts apart." His family was depicted as being incredibly close up until the moment he just randomly abandons them.
>>216004106its also so rushed. like they wanted to give each character a conclusion but didn't take the time to actually give them proper send offs. like they probably could have made it work if they had multiple episodes concluding character arcs instead of just shoving them all together at the end. except for the odo ending that was retarded.
>>216004159A Navy Captain is an 0-6.
ENT S02E19 "Judgement" has crazy good guest stars. Archer's advocate is Martok and the prosecutor is Neroon.
>>216004185VOY had the right idea with Neelix but for some reason they only did it with Neelix, and the rest of the crew just arrives home and they show some confetti and roll credits.Ironically, Neelix has one of the best and most complete character arcs in Trek with one of the best capstones and it's entirely by accident.
>>216002918The Empire
>>216004144>BPD Trillussynow you're speaking my language
>>216003701Cardassians are tropical reptilians so it'd be something that grows in bulk in hot climates, like sugarcane... so basically it's just fucking rum with weird Cardassian spices.
DS9 was narratively melting for the entirety of the final two seasons. About the same time Robert Hewitt Wolfe left.
>>216004225Yeah but even knowing that it's still a surprise they fucked up the ending THAT badly
ending of DS9 should have been Damar kills Dukat and Sisko and Kai Winn face off because he is the real Emissary and she is an evil fraud.
>>216004205Phenomenal acting by Ethan Phillips
>>216004265He really is a great actor. People shit on Neelix but it could've been so much fucking worse with a worse actor.
>>216004194You are correct I mistyped
>>216004018Damn. Youve sold me on tarragon lol>>216004051I was thinking something similar- grape juice, some kind of thickener, and a lot of Robitussin.
>>216004205 yeah it would've been nice to see what happened once they got back home But I think they already wrapped up the character arcs. They also went for " the real treasure was the friends we made along the way" vibe for the ending which I liked.
Why aren't there any Australians in Star Trek?
>>216004220I always thought they were more of a desert reptile, like gila monsters.
>>216004398>yeah it would've been nice to see what happened once they got back homeThis was literally the point of Endgame being structured as an alt-future episode, to show that they would all be capable of adjusting fine to coming home if they didn't drop dead of old age first, and then still having Voyager returning to Earth with an escort of ships from all the other series (Excelsior, Galaxy, Defiant, etc.) as the last shot.
>>216004409They fuck up the universal translator by calling everything and everyone cunt so they're only suitable for earth side duty.
>>216004409It's the future anon, there's no Australians in the future.
>>216004454Cunt
>>216004411Maybe, but you'd think they'd be more tolerant of bright lights then. Nocturnal desert species doesn't work because deserts get cold at night.
>>216004434I mean I guess but its still an alternate timeline. I meant seeing them back on earth with there familes and whatnot.
I wish I were on Voyager.
>>216004441Great, now I want to see "Australian subtitles" where every word is just "cunt".>>216004673We all wish you were 70,000 light years away.
>>216004698There'd be a few eh's and oi's in there too.
>>216004698I hope your life improves so you aren't so angry all the time.
>>216004673I wanna see more of that alt timeline where Voyager became a generation ship.
Harry using a fake surrender to get away is crazy. Doesn't seem very starfleet
>>216004858Harry sucks and deserves to be an ensign for his entire career but in his defense he was fresh out of the academy and his experience with Starfleet as an officer consists of one ship captained by a psychopath who gives commissions to a bunch of terrorists.
>>216004858That seems very Kirkesque to me
>>216004858Rules are for faggots.
>>216004920AND he never moved FREIGHT
>>216005151I read this post in her voice. It was perfect.
>>216005237I read your post in your voice. You have a weird accent.
>>216005357aw, gee, thanks, pal
>>216002918Yea most militaries, green and dark green for forests and tropical, white and grey and blue for snow, brown and tan for desert

>2 threadsrundown?
>>216006786I dunno, /trek/ is usually the only thread I have open anymore. Did somebody make another one?
>>216006869Yes, a carpet thread. >>215992878
>>216006897dunno but judging by the file names i'll just say im glad that guy is over there instead of over here trying to argue with everyone like he always does
>>216004409When you posted this in the last thread. Someone replied:>Lt. Kyle was a TOS character and, according to the official biography, was born in Adelaide, Australia.me too. We should build a statue like Janeway's canonical hometown did a couple years ago.
>>216007020The Australian accent is too odd, it would come off as comedic on a show like star trek.
Anyone got the remastered TNG on Blu Ray?£90 here in the UK, from pretty much the only retailer online I can find that still has it new for sale.TNG is my favourite of all the series, but it's usually on Netflix so I can watch it there.in standard form. The remastered worth it?
>>216002704they're cool because of their refrigeration suits, silly
>>216007432In these dark times it is important that we support good trek.
