God, "AI" fucking sucks so badly

I was asking about Tim Russ and if his status as a Trek fan gave him more access to producers and writers than most actors, whereas they had a policy of strict separation previously. I brought up Meld and how Russ suggested Suder be Betazed because Tuvok would've had plenty of experience mind-melding with humans before and it said something like
>Yes, you're absolutely correct! Writer Michael Piller was quoted as saying he spent "hours on the phone" with Russ talking about the specifics of the episode.
So, just on a hunch, I click the source and read the information it's supposedly condensing for me and it says the part about Suder not being human, but the specific mention of "being on the phone for hours" with someone about the episode was Piller consulting a psychiatrist about the psychological aspects of the episode.

So this fucking retarded AI can't even read two fucking clearly written paragraphs and summarize the information properly.
Truly world changing technology (for fucking retards)

It's honestly terrifying. I legitimately don't know how it fucked that up.

It's also fucked me over like 10 times asking questions about STO because it apparently doesn't understand that MMO information from 10 years ago is out of date. It just combines stuff from the game's launch to now when it's all radically different. It's a complete waste of time to even use it like that.

would Shran and Dukat get along?
>>
>>216045348
>would Shran and Dukat get along?
Yes. They're both men of honor who grew up in cutthroat cultures and are willing to get their hands dirty for the higher good.
They might duel every so often but would probably get bored of knife fights and play some sort of debate game.
>>
>>216045348
Shran would simply murder Dukat
>>
>>216045426
nahhh he wouldn't. he seems more in control of his violent tendencies than most Andorians.
>>
>>216045446
Shran is ultimately a good man. He would recognize the evil in him and take him out. It wouldn't be personal but he's a pragmatic who almost certainly believes in the death penalty.
>>
>>216045464
pragmatic and murdering people because you can "see the evil in them" are mutually exclusive. Shran is more prudent than that.
>>
>>216045488
And you don't think Shran and Dukat would be working at cross purposes? There's no way they'd ever get along, their principles are too different.

Kira hates him, Sisko hates him, pretty much everyone in the Federation or on Bajor or on the station hates him. What do you mean?

they literally do though when the times call for it. and he can get along with people he hates as well.
>>
>>216045584
because dukat reduced the death counts of an occupation by ⅓ and from a utilitarian perspective that's ultimately more good than needing some pinkskin's help to find the world's most obvious listening post
>>
>>216045635
Shran really didn't do anything all that "Good" when you think about it he just basically wanted to give diplomacy a chance. big whoop. he still wanted to murder Tellarites on a whim because he was butthurt about losing his ship. which I guess is fair cuz like 80 people died I'd probably want to lash out too but still

wrestler stuff is infamously sticky but for something like trek they just pay for the license and have free reign unless an actor has something special going on, like using nicholson's likeness for joker toys is prohibitively expensive so you only see those really expensive dolls everyone is afraid to pose because their clothes will start stretching and seams pop

'We work to better ourselves' -Picard (from memory). For over a century now, dweebs have been predicting that technology will liberate use. And we'll live happily ever after in a Star Trek post-scarcity socialist utopia. And tech has caused like ten-fold efficiency increases. In pretty much every job. If not more. But, it has not liberated us. Your work hours stay the same. You're wages stay the same. Only the amount of work you're expected to do increases. The AI robot is not liberating you from labour, it is the scab you have to compete with. The dweebs at the top who own and profit from this will never let any positive benefits flow down to you. Canonically, it took WW3 to change that mindest.

I'm in a very large corporation in projects, and there's an obsession with 'making it work'. I have a better time than most others because I've got a custom prompt and details in memory that basically just say in 5 different ways
>STOP MAKING SHIT UP. QUOTE VERBATIM, THEN RECHECK THAT YOU QUOTED VERBATIM. LABEL ANY INFERENCES NOT SUPPORTED BY VERBATIM QUOTES. IF YOU CAN'T FIND SOMETHING, SAY THAT.
It 'worked' in that it starts most responses with
>I dunno, man. I found this one quote, but it doesn't actually meet your criteria.
Which is worlds better than the confident lying before.
Still, for the thousands of sources I need to trawl for specific topics that can't be met by a straight keyword search, it does have its value (as a glorified search bar).
>>216037610
And I'm compiling a presentation for my department on measurable / repeatable / indisputable instances where it is going to get us in more legal trouble than just that of the shitty code the offshores keep 'writing' with it. But if I just slap a problem on a desk without a 'mitigation plan' it alternative I'd look like a retard. So I slap together an option pack. Fun part, I can use the AI to come up with the projected reputational and defect fixing costs of its continued use, and it doesn't matter if the figures are unsupported because I'll label them as sourced from the AI. Either it's right and it's a risk, or it's wrong and I'm demonstrating the risk.
>>216037699
Hype wave. They vary in size, but corps make massive costly decade long fuck ups off the back of them all the time. Using AI as the current example, the biggest holders of deferred voting rights of... Most companies, Blackrock and Vanguard, push AI, and also have the biggest sway on board member selection who select and can remove the CEO, who gives the strategic direction.
We do whatever dumb shit they want, to our detriment. We still spend a fortune on a 'green investing' department, DEI targets for exec bonuses, etc.

Just gave First Contact another rewatch, some thoughts
Probably my favorite Trek film of them all

Amazing introduction to the Enterprise E. So many glamor shots, plus the way they organically gave us info about the new girl. Just a perfect debut

Deserves its own bullet from above, The Sovereign class is just a beautiful design. She's elegant, yet also aggressive looking.

"The line must be drawn here-a" scene is still amazing. Patrick Stewart is probably the best actor to ever grace Star Trek. I think one of the reasons this stands out so well to me is because Picard is regarded as the wisest captain in Trek, yet in this scene he displayed a lack of wisdom while still displaying that level of gravitas that we are accustomed to.

Love the different sides of Picard the film highlighted. Not just what I mentioned above, but also how this film reminds us that Picard is an experienced combat commander. He's not just a diplomat.

Not only in that above scene but overall Frakes did a terrific job directing this

Never occurred to me previously, its implied that Data did the sex with the Borg queen but...is her Borg armor removable? Did a uh...docking port just open for Data? I guess it would be safe to say it wasn't a dry dock eh? Eh?

The two plotlines of on the ship and on the planet was perfect Trek and reminiscent of an episode
