The truth is that season one was a masterpiece. Virtually everything about it was good. It was a tightly written story with clear focus, likable cast of characters, and an emotionally strong premise. I like the rest of the show alot more than most people here do, but even I freely admit that it would have been better to end the story there or do an anthology series with the same premise. But, that's not what we got, instead we got a continuation of the 011's story. There are obvious problems that have arrisen over the course of the show, bloated cast, jarring tonal shifts, moments where the suspension of disbelief fails, etc. It never got as good as season one again, BUT the show also never is as bad as people have said it is. Especially now. Season 5 is not suffering from anything the previous 3 seasons didn't also suffer from. Infact, it's better than the previous ones because it does fix some of the problems, like the story being all over the place and the cast feeling bloated. It has them all in the same place working together from the very beginning, which were always the peaks of the previous seasons, when they all come together to fight the forces of the upsidedown. If you dont like season 5, I cannot fathom why you would have liked s2-4, which begs the question of why the fuck are you watching it? Outside of the first season, the bad parts and the good parts have been consistent throughout. I choose to engage with the things I enjoy and ignore the things I don't, thus, I've been enjoying the season. I see anons making legitimate criticisms, some of which I do agree with (though I've gotten less critical in general as I've matured personally) but it's hard to take them seriously when I see blatent retardation in the same thread from people who completely miss basic information.
