I know nothing of the first shadow since it's a play based on a tv show so who cares but people keep mentioning it in passing to things that have happened in the first half and I kind of assume they just saw the reaction to the whole thing about henry being the big bad over the mind flayer and decided to back peddle.Like if they just pull "oh he just thought that he was in control of it" I wouldn't care that much, or "actually there was an consciousness even higher up then the mind flayer" I also would have no strong opinions about. At worst it would literally just feel like the writers changed their mind from the main villain being a kid who killed pets in his backyard.
