So there were no real Trek fans until 1995?
Also, DS9 and VOY lost most of their viewers early in season 1 and never recovered.
>>
>>216566029
This is quite literally how it is for every pilot of a show with hype ever. The pilot always has way more viewers than the rest of the show.

TNG's pilot also did huge numbers they didn't retain because there was a lot of new hype around the new series.

I posted here a few months ago with a list of stuff I wanted to watch:
https://archive.4plebs.org/tv/thread/215375174/#215375536
The p+ trial week is over and I decided against giving those fuckers any money because it would be immoral to finance their disgusting political propaganda.

Some thoughts:
>Coda
Terrifying episode because it might actually be real.

>Nemesis
Good music, acting, and visuals. Trying too hard to look edgy with some of the designs.
The amount of hate this gets isn't really deserved. Yes it's full of illogical shit, but that's always the case with Star Trek. Like how they let a random Android they just found run around on their ship, gave him Data's memories, let him access computers and did not restrain him despite knowing a Soong android could overpower the entire crew as shown in "Brothers"? Kirk letting Khan read all the technical manuals of the Enterprise before even ID'ing him was just as dumb.

>Insurrection
Worse than Nemesis in every aspect, including the premise. Still, okay if you don't expect a better plot than some random TNG episode.

>Taste of Armageddon
Makes an interesting case in favor of the Jewish total war concept as explained by Rabbi Manis Friedman.

>The Cage
The best TOS episode. A shame the cute yeoman didn't make it into the series.

>Patterns of Force
full of dehumanizing and ahistoric propaganda, which is what you'd expect from a show on a channel run by a Jewish criminal. But also recognizes the amazing achievements of NS Germany. The plot is very predictable, yet it was entertaining nonetheless.

>Past Tense
funny how there really were riots about a black man killed by police in the 2020's, but instead of a hero who died saving hostages he died trying to use counterfeit banknotes and was prevented from driving a car while doped out of his mind with 3 different illegal drugs in his system. And instead of leading to social change they just lead to Blacks burning down neighborhoods.

>>
>>216566716
It's more that the Nazis winning would cause the Federation and Starfleet to cease to exist. Achieving space travel alone does not ensure the existence of the Federation or Starfleet. Something more like the Terran Empire would probably rise in its place which is not an outcome Kirk was going to allow.
>>
>>216566814
It's my personal opinion that Kirks decision to save or not to save her is what creates the mirror universe. Its a nexus centered upon Edith Keeler.

I do really like City on the Edge of Forever. Easily a top five TOS 'sode. But, the propaganda of it is interesting. And something I've thought about. Not in the way you say. But, think about the plot:

>Keeler was supposed to die in a traffic collision but was somehow saved by the arrival of McCoy, creating an altered timeline in which she founded a pacifist movement on the eve of World War II. It grew powerful enough to cause the United States to delay its entrance into the war, allowing Nazi Germany time to develop the first atomic bomb and use it to win the war instead of the Allies and conquer the world.

Think about what that message is. Obviously, it's about WW2. But, think about the context in which it was made and aired. Anti-pacifism while the Vietnam was was being fought.

The episode's airdate: April 1967.

>Support for direct military involvement increased temporarily following the deployment of troops, a phenomenon sometimes described as a “rally around the flag” effect, but it began to decline significantly by 1967, as public concerns over the war’s cost and progress grew.[55]

The year large scale, nation-wide anti-war protests began. You've seen that photo of a hippie putting a flower into a soldier's gun barrel. 1967. Knowing this context, you can start to see City on the Edge as a piece consent manufacturing propaganda.

And, who made it: Gene Roddenberry, WW2 veteran. Decorated officer. Joined the LAPD in the 50s.

>...transferred to the newspaper unit.[22] That became the Public Information Division, and Roddenberry became the Chief of Police's speechwriter.[23] In this position, he also became the LAPD liaison to the very popular Dragnet television series, providing technical advisors for specific episodes.

LAPD propagandist.

1950s LAPD:

>William H Parker was an American law enforcement officer who was Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) from 1950 until his death in 1966. he is the longest-serving LAPD police chief. Parker has been called "Los Angeles' greatest and most controversial chief of police. During his tenure, the LAPD was known for police brutality and racism;[2] Parker himself was known for his "unambiguous racism."[3

>Parker had a low opinion of Hollywood and how it portrayed American law enforcement, he saw it as an effective tool (particularly the new medium of television) to promote his view of law enforcement's role, in general as well as in Los Angeles, in maintaining order and "civilized behavior". ... Parker gave Webb access to police files... While accuracy was a major goal of Dragnet, Webb was a strong advocate of the LAPD and stayed away from any story that showed any measure of police incompetence or corruption.

Gene L. Coon was an uncredited writer who worked on the City on the Edge of Forever script.

>During World War II, Coon served stateside in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 to 1946. Thereafter, he remained in the Marines as a reservist ... returned to active duty during the Korean War era in 1950, ultimately attaining the rank of sergeant. He received additional training as a war reporter

Military propagandist.

Not to sound too string on a corkboard about it all. But, it's interesting to think about. Was this anti-pacifism propaganda created by two establishment entrenched propagandists during Vietnam?

I agree. You can't understand a character with a Cardassian Occupation backstory if you've never seen DS9 and you can't be a true fan of LD if you don't understand Shaxs' backstory, as he is one of the major characters of the series.

Generative AI and LLMs aren't even real artificial intelligence like Data. They're just glorified search engines. They don't even pretend to sentience, they're only capable of processing inputs. Sure there are some kooky nerds in silicon valley who think chatgpt is conscious or whatever, and plenty of retarded npcs use it like a friend simulator or magic mirror, but the debate about the uses of AI as we know it really isn't the same debate about enslaving androids or holograms.

if the borg are always adding species' biological and technological distinctiveness to their own why doesn't their aesthetic ever improve?
they look like a bunch of autistic fags with implants and shit in their heads when it would make more sense to just put a brain in a jar and make fully robotic drone bodies, especially since they send drones to just manually abduct people and they know their shields suck ass.
they absorb federation tech which is inherently minimalist and streamlined but they still use their autistic tubes and implants like they wish they could be sentient audi engines.
I just wonder what their end goal even is if they're just out there killing anything that moves without cultivating areas for new drones to be grown or cultures to develop new technological breakthroughs the borg wouldn't think of.
Who even created the Borg and why? Probably a bunch of stupid fags, I say.
>>
>>216570706
The answer is that The Borg were a one time villain for TNG and were stretched out beyond its concept for shit like the movie and Voyager. They had to throw in a Borg Queen, because there was literally nothing more they could do with them.

I'm not really saying that's a 100% true historical narrative I just wrote. Because I don't necessarily believe that's correct. That it went down exactly like that. That City on the Edge of Forever was a puppet-mastered conspiracy. I agree, silly. But, it was a deliberate choice to make make a episode that had a core theme of anti-pacifism. Right when Vietnam was ramping towards its peak. It was an interesting choice. Made by men with interesting backgrounds. It makes you think.

Maybe I've just been reading too many James Ellroy novels though. He's all about that. Vast, secret conspiracies. LAPD. Hollywood. William H Parker. If you've ever read LA Confidential, the character Jack Vincennes does what the real-life Roddenberry did. A bit. Police liaison/adviser on a Dragnet-type show. I just think it's interesting.

>if the borg are always adding species' biological and technological distinctiveness to their own why doesn't their aesthetic ever improve?
Aesthetics are irrelevant. If you're a cybernetic hive culture built around the idea of efficiency to the point that it drives you to assimilate other cultures (to make the galaxy more efficient), why would you ever care about aesthetics? The Borg endeavor to make everyone like them in which case they are entire pragmatic and detached from emotional concerns and vanity concerns.

The better question is, why do you think the Borg should have an aesthetic sense? How does that gel with their culture at all?

Nothing about what the Borg are doing or why they look the way they do makes sense.

>>

That is one aspect of it, and the whole "we have to go in now, we must not wait like we did with Hitler" has been trotted out in every war fought on Israel's behalf since then. Before and during the Iraq war(s) every TV station had some talking head claiming that Saddam was the new Hitler. The most bizarre claim came from the Simon Wiesenthal center, which is also responsible for coming up with many of the anti-German propaganda canards we know today:
>In the early 1990s, the Simon Wiesenthal Center made allegations that German firms had designed and built gas chambers for Saddam Hussein's regime, similar to those used in Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust.
>These claims were detailed in the Center's magazine, Response, which asserted that German company Rhema Labortechnik had constructed gas chambers for Iraq, using Zyklon B, the same chemical used by the Nazis to murder millions of Jews.
>However, these allegations were later widely regarded as baseless and unsubstantiated, with critics arguing they were part of a broader effort to justify military action against Iraq.

NBC was acting in the established tradition of the New York Times and other war propaganda outlets. Search for the sentences "Pacifists pester till mayor calls them traitors" and "Rabbi Wise ready for war" to see an example of the propaganda that brought the US into World War 1.

Also, "The Drumhead" was part of the demonization of "McCarthyism," which has been portrayed as a crazy unfounded witch hunt for non-existent Communist agents in the American media and political apparatus. Thanks to the declassification of the Venona files, we now know that McCarthy's concerns were entirely justified:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venona_project
The World Bank and IMF were founded by the Jewish communist spies Harry Dexter White and Frank Virginius Coe. HDW was also a key figure in antagonizing Japan to ultimately drag the US into the war to defend the USSR.

Vic was an annoying attempt by the DS9 team to make their own holo character because the Doctor was so popular.
Voyager also nixed the idea of them getting home early because it would mean folding the plot into the Dominion War (which the DS9 writers were in charge of)
Because of all this bad blood we missed out on a lot of potential crossover kino. They did it with TNG too (a lot of those moments in later seasons you though a character was supposed to be Quark guest starring? yeah it was, till they nixed because the DS9 team were faggots protecting their shit like mother hens or something)

I think you're missing the point he's trying to make. The form of a thing often follows the function of a thing - a flip phone is immediately identifiable as being different than a smartphone, and a rotary phone is just as visually different from a flip phone if not more so. The borg do end up looking higher budget from TNG -> VOY -> First Contact -> ENT, but they don't necessarily look different, per se. One from VOY embodies this.

Spock was killed himself in Wrath of Khan not because he cared about all those a-holes who constantly teased him about not being human ; no, Spock killed himself because who couldn't take all the bullshit anymore.

the actual story line of star trek iv would have been very short: Spock begins to fully remember who he is and why he committed suicide > grim Realization grief sets in > he goes on a murderous rampage killing all these same assholes who are back again in his existence > kills himself AGAIN to hopefully be FINALLY done with all this crap.

and the placing his Kautra into McCoy was never intended to be used to bring him back to life... no, Spock put that shit into McCoy to fuck him up for the rest of his life because he hated McCoy the most of all these assholes.

think about the IQ levels:

Spock 190

Kirk 120

Scotty 120

McCoy 110

Sulu 110

Chekvov 105

Urtha 85

rest of the crew 90 - 100

think about being surrounded by all these dipshits for 5 fucking years with no escape all the while they constantly tease you for not embracing your human half... you get the picture? how does not make logical sense?

Kirk — 120
Verdict: Slightly low
Kirk repeatedly:
Outsmarts godlike entities
Uses lateral thinking under extreme pressure
Beats Spock in strategy, not logic
This suggests high fluid intelligence, not just charisma
Suggested: 125–130

Scotty — 120
Verdict: Slightly low
Scotty is a miracle engineer, constantly redefining limits
That level of systems thinking + improvisation usually implies higher
Suggested: 125–135

>Spock was killed himself in Wrath of Khan not because he cared about all those a-holes who constantly teased him about not being human ; no, Spock killed himself because who couldn't take all the bullshit anymore.

Aaaaa, no. Did you completely miss the Tale Of Two Cities plot elements mentioned at the beginning?

Spock went down to engineering when Scotty didn't respond to Kirks message about them having 3-4 minutes to live. Spock arrives in engineering to find Scotty incapacitated.

Spock realized he was in a lose-lose situation. They all die or one person who fixes the warp drive dies. He made a sacrifice for the many because it was the logical thing to do. There was no time to order some engineering trainee to go in there and die, probably fucking something up along the way.

Spock was the only other dude on-board that could fix the drive in time and also knew that had about 3 minutes before Genesis killed them all anyways.

Also why I hate the series ending with Worf/Troi but Insurrection shoves Riker & her back together again. I get DS9 shit & everything but just felt shoehorned that they tried to push them together again by default after years of moving on, just comes out of left field.

Worf's "we do not speak of it" was unironically the most clever way of handling why Klingons don't look the same anymore -- it was an acknowledgment of a meta production concern that didn't require an in-universe explanation.

Given Earth in Trek is a secular humanist state, what year was Christmas removed as a public holiday? 2200?

Still happens.

It Always Sunny had a different actress in the handycam pilot Rob filmed to show producers. He was banging that gal at the time.

Then the show gets picked up, they're no longer banging so they cast a new actress for Dee. Rob and her end up screwing and getting married.

Charlie also ends up screwing and marrying one of the women they cast for the show, shes in the first aired episode.

Glenn also screws and marries an actress that appear on the show, the pharmacist lady he DENNIS's.

I think this is fairly common in Hollywood.
>>
>>216582905
Is that really all there is to it, mound pounding?
>>
>>216582905
To be fair, Glenn got married to her before the episode aired. It's just a case of letting your other half be on the show.

Completely disregard the ticking clock and sure, anyone (well anyone TRAINED on how the energizers work) could've fixed it.

How many minutes would it take to put on a suit? The engineering crew was decimated in the first attack, Scotties own nephew died because he remained at his post while the other trainees ran.

So we know the bulk of the engineering crew are trainees, the survivors upto this point likely were the softies.

We know Spock understood the energizer systems well enough cause he helped solve the engine imbalance in TMP and he's captain of the ship itself in TWOK.

Given we see the mains comeback online within seconds of the Genesis device detonating I think Spock knew he had just enough time to fix the issue without the proper safety precautions.

He did grab a pair of gloves before going in. Also, Vulcans are a bit stronger than humans so being half-Vulcan likely gave him the strength to endure that blast to the face of pure radiation.

You are angry you can't comprehend self sacrifice, are you from one of those Eastern cultures that are so selfish they have no such concepts???

The Drumhead is a really dumb and contrived episode and the most overrated TNG classic by far. Nothing about the way the plot and characters unfold makes any logical sense whatsoever.
>>
>>216583003
Thats good but its harder to deny that since all 3 of the dudes making and staring in the show ended up banging actresses they hired that there might be some casting couch stuff going on.

The thing that really made it hard to ignore was the former Dee actress being replaced by Rob because the screwing stopped.

Word is Seth Mcfarlane was banging that lill security ballerina actress on Orville, then she leaves the show to pursue other opportunities when they stop banging.

Not necessarily judging these guys, I dream of committing such abuses myself, but lets not lie to ourselves. Things are being exchanged here.

Remember that back then (1987) the majority of Americans had 4 channels to watch and these channels often had broadcast times from 5am to 1-2am and that was it.

Lots of reruns.

Cable was a thing, sure, but it was a rich person luxury for most American's until the late 90's or early 2000's.

Lots of shitty shows had multiple seasons back then. TNG got better, thats why it had a "long" run (by the standards of the time.)

The entire ending hinges on Satie's father conveniently making a speech Picard can quote and then her sperging out you can't handle the truth style. If she just sat there she would have won and the filthy Rommie traitor would have been airlocked.

Get the fuck out of here. You're either a liar or a fucking zoomer.

What a retarded fucking statement. I grew up blue collar as fuck and all of my friends who were even poorer than me had AT LEAST cable and maybe a few premium channels, this is early to mid 90s. We used to stay up watching Skinamax at my friend's house and his dad was a fucking construction worker, divorced and living alone in an apartment.

Yeah I never really saw it as a "Federation paranoia" episode, it always just seemed like a crazy bitch throwing around authority she didn't have episode. It would've been much better if it ended with the Admiral getting thrown out of the airlock, but we all know she went back to Starfleet Command and told everyone how great of a job she did at finding a spy on the Enterprise.

I don't see why this ensign was thrown in the brig. If anything, it lends credence to the idea that there's an assmad admiral roaming the halls of the Enterprise like a spooky spectre.

>all of my friends who were even poorer than me had AT LEAST cable and maybe a few premium channels
i know this may come as a shocker, but poor people tend to not be very intelligent with their spending habits. they often pay for overpriced luxury items so that they feel less poor, such as future doctors and engineers draping themselves with chains of gold, along with shoes and clothes sold at a 5000% markup
