>>216734004Going to have to agree. You only ever hear about horror comedies being more comedy than horror but RotLD is one of those that's the total opposite, much more horror than comedy. I think if we're talking about comedy horrors with the perfect balance of both Evil Dead 2 is one of the best examples of that and the first Tremors.
What do you call E.T.'s third ball? The extra-testicle!
Pretty good indie Christmas horror film from Finland. Pokes fun at the historically dark origins of Santa Claus and its commercialization in the West, with some homages to other horror films like The Thing and Demons. Also the first time I watched a movie with Joe Bob and Darcy hosting. I like their shtick, but I didn't like that he did some kind of tally listing all the stuff that happens in the movie before the movie even played, rather than after. Is this a normal thing on the show? The trivia and general banter is great, but that in particular rubbed me the wrong way

BLEH!
Just finished. Classy and expensive looking Tsukamoto flick with good music. Has a high fashion 90s aesthetic mixed with its period setting and I wanted to give the cinematographer the majority of the credit for the movie working but then I looked it up and Tsukamoto was cinematographer! Wow! Genuinely upped my respect level for him more than anything else I know about him. The female lead has a very striking, alien look and only uses one name, so I can guarantee she was a model. A cool and smart movie, maybe too smart.
>>216739366smooch, lol
>>216741704problem with loli vamp movies is you can't make sequels, your actresses age out
The best horror experience i've had was in a cinema (at 1pm, part of IFI horrorthon) watching New York Ripper. Everything about that movie worked, from the duck noises making the audience laugh to the severe slashings and the procedural investigation.I would recommend it to anyone, especially any Fulci zombie fans who haven't seen his other stuff
>>216741474Based kid
Just finished. Boy, that sure wasn't what I was expecting. Satire/giallo hybrid where the emphasis is heavily on the satire. It's all in on that fear of industrialization that was so prevalent in the 60s, especially in Italy. The horror element is kind of a fake-out when the big reveals are happening; this is about greedy people attempting to backstab each other and all taking each other out by accident. Crazy, dissonant score. Ewa Aulin is about as good looking as it's possible for a woman to get.
>>216741754He's still doing movies?

>>216742187>best horror experienceback in 9th grade, some guy I know managed to get an old school projector and played some crappy, obscure horror dvdrips on this factory wall that overlooked a bunch of apartments (mine included)by the second movie, everyone was out on their balconies watching together into the night, shit was great
There are 5 (five) Silent Night, Deadly Night films. How do you rank them?
>>216747115There are seven. The first is objectively the best, it's just a good holiday themed slasher. The second is second best because it's hilarious. Three and four incant even remember. Five is third best because it's got a killer toy angle and has Mickey Rooney. Six is okay for the gore. Seven really has no redeeming qualities imo.
Just finished. I was honestly enjoying this a lot. I saw a couple of posts here complaining how it was "men bad" and while I thought they poured it own a tiny bit too thick I felt like it was appropriate for the story. Then the movie ended and I got a giant slap in the face I wasn't expecting: "Directed by Paul Feig", LMFAO. As of today, I have a personal rule where anything directed by Paul Feig is automatically deducted 50% of my goodwill toward it. So anyway, since this is brand new, here's what happens: Sydney Sweeney is a down on her luck girl with a mysterious past who's living in her car and desperate to get the job she just interviewed for as a live in maid and nanny for Amanda Seyfried. She gets it, and on day two Amanda is revealed to be a screaming psycho bitch. Her husband is a patient saint who cleans up all her messes, and eventually he and Sydney fall in love as he repeatedly prevents Amanda from ruining her life. Amanda pushes things too far and the husband finally puts his foot down and kicks her out, saying they're getting divorced and pledging himself to Sydney from then on. The two of them celebrate with sex and champagne. Cut to tomorrow morning and Sydney discovers she's been drugged and locked in the creepy room in the attic. This is the halfway point, and now we get treated to a flash backwards to show how he and Amanda met, and how he's a psychotic manipulator who only pretends to be perfect until he's got his woman exactly where he wants her. First week of marriage, Amanda forgets to get her roots dyed, so hubby locks her in the attic and tells her to pluck 100 strands of her hair out as penance before she can come out, then makes her do it over again when one of the hairs is broken. He has her committed after framing her for the attempted murder of their daughter the next day, and she realizes she's stuck until she can find someone to take her place a plan that takes years and ends with her finding Sydney.
>>216748526Sydney had broken a plate the night before into 21 pieces, so she's told she has to cut 21 limes into her stomach before she can come out again. She does it, but also tricks hubby and manages to get him trapped in the room instead of her. She makes him pull out his teeth. Meanwhile Amanda has had a fit of conscience and comes back to save Sydney, but accidentally lets out hubby. After some fighting, together they kill him and make it look like an accident. Amanda gives Sydney a bunch of money, and it's implied she'll be going on to more houses freeing other abused housewives.. There you go. The movie's for a sense of humor and keeps your attention, Sydney looks hot and is technically naked a couple times, but the movie is way too girly to linger over it. It's not really horror, but it's so close that I thought it was worth spoiling here. Worth a watch if you're a hardcore /hor/ like I am, but I don't think it's going to be anybody's favorite movie. If you've got a girlfriend I'm confident she'll like it.
>>216747115Vestron did something amazing- they released 3,4 and 5 is a Blu-ray collection. I don't remember much Christmas spirit, but I do remember exposed brains, witchcults, and bugs. And Clint Howard as a rapist bum. Man those movies are weird.

there's some fellow Jeffliker anon around here who told me to watch The Digital Prophet aka Cyberstalker, so I did. I really dig this movie but I wish there was more about Newman and her whole backstory because it's all so bizarre and I have so many questions like how and why does she literally fiend for new comic book issues like they were hits of crack that is just so funny and weird in and of itself. I need to know the process of how that came to be. And what is her actual relationship with Andy is she literally just some crazy bitch who hangs out in his warehouse living like a troll and is his biggest fan in exchange for...what exactly? Maybe she procures the heroin for him? Idk. I assume that's what that drug was but I've never seen it depicted where someone shoots up and feels great and then immediately becomes irate and starts wifebeating 5 minutes later but whatever. The cops were incompetent and boring but unfortunately they get most of the screentime. I hated how hostile they were meeting Andy for the first time like he kinda teases the cop a little and they treat him like he's a child predator or something. You're there to get him to cooperate with you because you have nothing to go on, what the fuck are you doing... Anyway another thing I liked was the whole depiction of what a chatroom was like and showing the opinions about the internet and "subcultures" and stuff back then it was nostalgic and kinda cozy
>>216750557>I think if you get frankenchicken in your movie it's either a horrorFair. It's at least objectively a horror-ish movie.
>>216748526>>216748653Good summary. Sounds like fucking retarded nonsense when you read it instead of seeing it in a film. These films are like their own genres. Small cast. violent dramas aimed at women. Companion was the same thing.

Which motherfucker recommended Silent Night Deadly Night 2? 45 minutes of this fucking garbage is a fucking recap
Just finished. Lmao, what?!? Weird, WEIRD anthology movie that really only has two stories, only other one I can think of like that off the top of my head is Two Evil Eyes. And the second, much worse of the two is the one that gets the bulk of the runtime. Besides those, you get a smattering of greatly abbreviated versions of urban legends taking up the first ten minutes before the titles. First story has strong TV pilot vibes, and barring the single "ass" and "shit" that get dropped in the second, there really isn't anything you couldn't get on late night network tv here, making me think the was expanded from a pilot to feature by adding that bizarre second story. Making your lead a fat ugly bully that builds dioramas of churches and 50s diners filled with dead flies and who's feuding with a manure farmer is a choice, all right. And of course, this is the only directorial effort of disgraced Hollywood pederast Brian Peck, and going in knowing that, BOY is it obvious, lmfao. This movie is fixated on little boys to the exclusion of everything else, and prominently features two of them separately pissing their pants. Every character paid any real attention to is a prepubescent male, and the title takes on a grossly hilarious second meaning. When the boys from the wraparound's dad comes to check on them in the night and asks before barfing in, "you boys aren't giving each other the willies are you?" I gave Brian Peck an "oh, you!" face spiritually. James Karen is as great as always. Worth it for horror anthology completists and people who think child molestation is funny (me.)Bizarre Growing Pains cameo, too.
>>216755657Excuse me mofo, that's Takashi Miike you're talking about>>216755713This guy definitely isn't an Andy Kaufman fan.

Sullivan, who visited Peck's residence at the age of 14, recalled observing a significant volume of written communication exchanged between Peck and Gacy. Sullivan asserts that Gacy, who pursued painting while on death row, purportedly sent Peck an autographed painting of a clown, which Peck reportedly displayed in his residence at the time.

Just finished. What if the aliens from 2001 landed in Mexico and just wanted to FUCK? And what if maybe we weren't ready for them yet? Technically strong with a couple pieces of really crazy music. The end credits score is something I can see myself listening to separately. Very abrupt ending and lots of Mexicans arguing with each other, especially about gay sex, that will probably bore lots of audiences. Interesting nonetheless, imo, I'm going to look more into this director. I definitely wouldn't call it a success, but it's intriguing for /film/fag types.

It's not bad movie, the cinematography is solid, the practical effects are great, everything makes sense at the end, but holy shit is it dour. Maybe I'm just used to more campy horror, but this was the kind of movie I felt like taking a shower after watching. The whole thing was oozing with sleaze. Like why was so much time dedicated to following around that guy's horny wife, it was beyond gratuitous. Also, considering this is a giallo film, there really wasn't much of a mystery, once they're introduced the killer's identity is extremely obvious. Regardless, it is just as memorable as it is nihilistic, definitely worth watching if your into more extreme horror.

The Resurrected was certifiable comfy kino.Felt the same way about Night Flier and The Ninth Gate. Has that long tv movie feeling.
>>216739258Went for episode 2 of this program, It's a Wonderful Knife. Not a good movie, but not a terrible watch for the holiday season. It's been a while since I've seen a gayer movie, though. Almost every character in this movie is a gay man or a lesbian, like the director (also gay) thinks that's just a normal, common thing that's a part of most peoples' lives. At least the actresses are pretty, and Katherine Isabelle's in it as a "cool wine aunt" although she's also a lesbian. At least Joe Bob made a good point about movies that borrow too much from other movies instead of trying to create something original. It seems like so many directors now are so excited to be making a movie that they don't try to make their own movie. They just want to express to the audience how happy they are to be making a movie and take the opportunity to reference the movies they like, without any real ideas of their own. Indie films are now some of the least creative movies being made, which is bizarre.
>watched hellraiser(2022)>main girl is an annoying ugly ass bitchhate her hair
>>216762753Gay directors just can't help themselves. I guess that's honourable, in the way that they're being honest to their vision, but it sure isn't what the audience wants to see. Even a gay audience I'm sure just wants a gayer film than they're getting.
>>216762870her lips look distractingly fucked up in that film. like they were both overpainting her lipstick and she had been licking dry lips.also had the problem where all the characters are unlikable. modern horror seems to think this makes a film gritty rather than annoying.
>>216763353Yeah, the cenobite design was alright but otherwise it was not interesting and the movie seemed like it was heavily inspired by the "13 ghosts (2001)" mansion
>>216763384yeah it was like a 50/50 film for me. I liked a bunch - the building, the sky leviathan, some of the ceno scenes, the chest harp torture machine and the ending. but the character drama that glues that together sucked.having all characters be flawed actually sounds right on paper for a hellraiser film, but not having them all be mopey annoying crybabies. needed some bombast.
>>216763459I had just watched Hellraiser 1 and 2 a few days before this, and that movie mostly blueballed me as well.I dunno what exactly Im looking for, maybe just like 50% of the movie being talking to or seeing the cenobites do stuff, but every movie I've watched now has very little to do with them and more so literally everyone else for 95% of the movie and it leaves me feeling unsatisfied.

An angel throng, bewinged, bedight In veils, and drowned in tears, Sit in a theatre, to see A play of hopes and fears,While the orchestra breathes fitfully The music of the spheres.Mimes, in the form of God on high, Mutter and mumble low,And hither and thither fly— Mere puppets they, who come and go At bidding of vast formless things That shift the scenery to and fro,Flapping from out their Condor wings Invisible Wo!That motley drama—oh, be sure It shall not be forgot! With its Phantom chased for evermore By a crowd that seize it not,Through a circle that ever returneth in To the self-same spot,And much of Madness, and more of Sin, And Horror the soul of the plot. But see, amid the mimic rout, A crawling shape intrude!A blood-red thing that writhes from out The scenic solitude! It writhes!—it writhes!—with mortal pangs The mimes become its food,And seraphs sob at vermin fangs In human gore imbued.Out—out are the lights—out all! And, over each quivering form,The curtain, a funeral pall, Comes down with the rush of a storm, While the angels, all pallid and wan, Uprising, unveiling, affirmThat the play is the tragedy, “Man,” And its hero, the Conqueror Worm.
>>216763616>And seraphs sob at vermin fangs>In human gore imbuedvery metal Poe, thank you
>>216739126I don't think Silent Night Deadly Night 2 is a particularly good movie. But it has some truly classic comical moments, and the over the top eye brow acting is just incredible... https://youtu.be/0ZF0FG55TKg?t=10

>>216766813>found footage kinocontradiction in terms
>hating found footage in 2026
>make a horror short for $30k using your savings and credit cards>make a deal with a Hollywood studio to adapt it into a feature film for their streaming service>write and direct the feature>the test audience scores are off the charts>studio decides to release it wide in theaters instead of going straight to streaming>the film grosses $217.4 million>write and direct the sequel>the sequel grosses $138.1 million>the franchise becomes such a cultural phenomenon that you get to play yourself in a big Apple+ show>announce a remake of Possession with Robert Pattinson starring>???>disappear
>>216767643I say, it's just a ridiculous premise. "What would happen if your mobile phone killed you?" Why would a mobile phone kill anyone? Doesn't make sense. How can a mobile phone have an agenda and kill people... Going around killing people. A mobile phone, like doing murders. Why couldn't you just take the battery out of the phone? That's it. The battle's over. No, it's ridiculous. Here's my favorite scene. Hello? *dies* It's a metaphor for addiction to technology? It's a metaphor for a crap movie.
>>216768450thought he was directing smile 3
>>216768697Smile 3 hasn't been officially announced. Rumors said that it was supposed be start filming but it didn't. No rumors about casting or anything. Finn's last IG post is from March. It's ogre.
>>216769055*start filming in 2025
>>216760595>Simone BucioLove this armpit haired lil Mexican feminista weirdo. If anyone wants to see more of her, watch Piaffe (2022).

>>216769581it's not fantastici remember watching it like a decade ago and having a hard time making out what was what on screennot great acting and costume design is middling, the robot looks cool though and that's about itin terms of hostile AI horror i much prefer virus and screamers (more in a guilty pleasure kind of way)
I love Krampus
