Has anyone here watched Performance, with Mick Jagger and James Fox?

I watched it in the early 2010s when I decided I liked The Rolling Stones after listening to my dad’s CD collection, and I read a biography about them from my high school’s library and learned about the movie, doesn’t seem like many people have watched it. Performance was The Rolling Stones’ answer to the happy go lucky boy-band movie The Beatles made called A Hard Days Night, it’s a combo of a hippie arthouse movie and a British gangster movie, with lots of crazy stories about its production. It got me started with the redpill-type stuff more than anything else like the infusion of occult references and the Tavistock Institute and Adorno’s influence on Western culture through the British Invasion, it’s where I learned about the Old Man of the Mountain and ultimately became interested in Persian culture too. It may look like a silly druggie boomerflick on the surface (much of it is, I guess), but I think the psychic subversion of the main character’s personality is compelling, and I love Roeg’s cinematography

>>
>>216803347
Hi chewy
>>
>>216803596

I thought it was good, it’s often considered one of the best British crime movies as well since it also occupies that genre. It’s also heavily influenced by Ingrid Bergman’s Persona (which I still need to watch). Brian Jones’ ex girlfriend, who was involved with Keith Richards at the time, was mindfucking James Fox irl on set, and she and Mick Jagger made a real sex scene for the movie which was later cut. This pissed Keith off, and Mick had to find a session band to make the main song Memo from Turner. Lots of other factoids

I liked the twist personally, I think it worked well in this film specifically because the character felt like a full fledged person and not just a function and I liked that you could interpret him as being a ghost basically, there's room for literal interpretation and not just "actually it was just a metaphor for the audience"

I’m kind of working in a late stage style at this point, like The Shrouds, Twin Peaks: The Return or Happy End. I know what the audience expects from me and I have begun to mirror to the simulacrum of me in a tongue-in-cheek sense. Just like how a late stage artist dies after their late stage, this style will too and I suspect I’ll default to factory settings.

>>
>>216812592
The point is they are very literalistic and straightforward with clear plots, timelines and well defined characters, everyone who has seen anything more abstract will see his films clearly, though one should definitely watch Antonioni chronologically for better understanding.

To me the trilogy is is about very real problem many of us have faced, it's about people who are just unable to establish a human connection, we don't actually know why but it's still a real problem, so films treatment of the problem is realistic.

If you watch it chronologically you can experience how the problem escalates
>L'Avventura
Meaning of human connection is lost but passion/desire remains
>La Notte
Now even desire is gone only presence remains
>L'Eclisse
Finally now even presence is gone, they're not even trying to pretend - it's a final surrender to the "condition"

In Il Grido we have a man who is still capable of connection but find it increasingly difficult to express or experience it in a world thats rapidly turning into the "modern" world of trilogy.

In Cronaca di un Amore we can see last example of two people mutually capable of connecting with each other

Volume of gaps would imply the perceived size of a given gap, not the amount of gaps, no? Am I having an ESL moment?
>>
>>216808903
The film's message flew over your head.
The movie is titled 'Parasite' because it's a critique of how capitalism drives and rewards people into being parasites. The poors are just as parasitically living off the richoids as the richoids are living off the poors.
It's a broader critique of capitalism than just rich bad poor good, it's about how capitalism pushes people into behaving scummily.
>>
>>216813018
Meh. You did end up with muh alienation. Why has postmodernity alienated us? That is what Antonioni is trying to tell us, viz. technology, consumerism and industrialization. Antonioni can diagnose the modern condition, but being a silly pagan, he cant offer a solution. Watch Rohmer.
>>
I'm watching the movie 'Parasite'
The mise-en-scene and the photography is above the mediocrity of our century.
But my suspension of disbelief is breaking away.
Minute 16: the son is trying to make a big speech (typical of east asian cinema) to his tutored student... he is palpating her wrist pulse wrongly... my suspension of disbelief is in peril

Volume means both quantity of things and quanity of space in English in varying contexts. I was just thinking yesterday how it must be the hardest language to learn because there are no rules to anything. It’s the wild west of languages.

Oliver Stone is a vietnam veteran
>In 1967, Stone enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served from 1967 to 1968 in the 25th Infantry and 1st Cavalry Divisions and was twice wounded in action. For his service, he received military honors including a Bronze Star with "V" Device for valor, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster (to denote two wounds), an Air Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. His service in Vietnam became the foundation for the stark portrayals of war and its aftermath in his work

Very funny you mention that name… as a hagchad myself, I came across a French cougar named Emmanuelle, as game as they come with a nice huge hairy bush. Lots of great softcore stuff, and one great hardcore scene where she rides very well. I don’t mean to spam straight porn here but I had to mention it since you brought it up, if you search “emmanuelle milf fuck” on Google you’ll see videos of her

Watching "M". These Germans really were MODERNITY. Shame that something or other happened in the late 30s to mid 40s that destabilised their kino culture and gave the French, Japanese, Americans time to overtake them and leave them in the dust. Of course the Neuer Deutscher Film happened but this makes them the students of the French (and their own new wave), before it is the other way around.
If chuds never existed, cinema would be 20 years more evolved than it currently is, because the Germans would be far out ahead of us leading the way into MODERNITY.
This is why we need philosemitism. Chuds want to bring us back to the dark ages. Fritz Lang. A Catholic-Jewish Übermensch .

Affectless violence much like watching Brakhage's autopsy movie.
Cinematic violence (no matter how tame) suffused with drama + emotion is far more effective than bland gore. Cannibal Holocaust is one of the least disturbing movies I've ever seen, but I've nearly passed out during other, more "simulated" movies because of my emotional investment that afforded the film more verisimilitude than these real animal executions.

I just watched Annie Hall, and people go way too hard on Woody's dialogue, but it's surprisingly natural. People in the real world talk more like Woody's movies than most “appropriate” genre slop. You have that world, and it only makes sense that everything is informed by the characters' backgrounds. Another thing is that Woody isn't ashamed of the ethnic side of his films. I know it's pre-Star Wars Hollywood, but it's another cool thing that still persists in his new films. Weirdo adopted daughter's husband/10
