In the new Silent Night Deadly Night, is the older lady renting the room referencing anything specific? She mentions dating some guy back in 82 and saying she was kind of a slut back then, and that things took a dark turnWith her age, I thought she might be a character from the original or a scream queen from the 80s, but it doesn't seem like that's the case at all
>>216920760It doesn't look great but it's hard to imagine Raimi missing. Rachel McAdams is also still somehow a babe at near 50.

>>216928777A few hidden gems I have gotten from /horror/, off the top of my head>ElevatorI cannot think of any others desu.
Just finished Black Friday. I think an anon recommended it.Almost an uncanny valley film. Decent SFX, Devon Sawa is great in the lead-ish role, it's essentially a zombie flick set in a shopping center but... there's just nothing to this film. It has nothing to say, no reason to exist, no reason for anything in the film happening. There's no explanation of why a zombie takeover occurs, which would normally be fine, but it feels like it's baiting something. "Wow don't shoppers go crazy on Black Friday?" I guess? It doesn't even touch on this outside of the start. The direction as well felt like going through the motions and never aiming for anything. This was a miss. Feast is a way better version of it.

>>216932649It was really good until they actually showed the found footage which I was excited to see but it was disappointing. It started out really spooky with him walking around in the dark, hearing the sounds and music and when you first saw the figure standing in front of the cabin you couldn't really make out what it was. I thought it was a tall woman who's head was partially cut off, but the moment they revealed that it was supposedly just some hillbilly (which was very obviously just a guy wearing a shitty silicone mask) it wasn't really scary anymore, just looked retarded started strong but dropped off a very, very steep cliff at the endalso, the PI's acting was atrocious

I watched the TUBI ORIGINAL called Match. It was a better remake of Castle Freak than the actual remake.
>>216948893The Boogeyman (2023)
Well that was a boring waste of time.
>>216950459>It was a better remake of Castle Freak than the actual remakethat would not be difficult
>>216948125Don't think so. But watching it in the original quality still holds up and adds a bit to the atmosphere.
>>216949850>The Breach (2022) I've seen it, main concern is how it only gets actually good towards the very end, before that barely anything monster tier happens
>>216948893You could watch Pandemonium, featuring Tony the Monster
>>216950233Jess looks cute here, ngl>>216950551That bad, huh? I was actually planning on watching this soon (already downloaded).
>>216951191It was good and enjoyable.

>>216951639>>216951661How am I supposed to hate AI when it could potentially give us proper kino like this in the near future?
>>216952072Without fail every anon tricked into watching one of his films has said it sucks kek. They learn.
>>216952085AI seems to fail on the same basics as CGI, which is that the human brain is incredible at processing physics and light, and those are hard to replicate. Even being off in subtle ways makes it feel fake, and that feels less exciting. I imagine it'll start filling out the mid tier space where real films couldn't achieve it because of budget restrictions. Not quite as good as Emma Roberts being seduced, but in absence of that, the next best thing.
Does Mike Flanagan make horror? Or just dramas disguised as horror because otherwise he wouldn't get his shit financed?
>>216952556most people only know him for his tv shows, and tv "horror" is just drama because it's so incredibly padded out.I doubt she has seen Hush or Oculus.
>>216952556He makes soi horror
>>216952556He makes zoggy traumaslop for foids.
>>216952556Only the Netflix series are drama shit mostly because it's when he went out of the way with the retarded monologuesAbsentia, one of his first movies for example, has grief in the background but is still mostly a creature horror movieHush has zero dramaOculus is mostly horror too even if there's still some grief in backseatGerald's Game has balls at least by making the hillbilly cannibal mutant be actually real in the end and not just some hallucination;metaphor
>>216944988Just finished. Hahahaha, this was hilarious. I can't imagine they didn't expect us to be able to tell that wasn't a tranny. He's the first person we see and it's just bombastically obvious, dudes even losing his hair. This shit was SO up my alley. The sets, costumes, photography, horniness, I loved all of it. It was clearly trying to ride Psycho's coattails, but it didn't want to bother hiding anything, lol. They find Leslie's taxidermied corpse room and the first thing one of the characters says is "these are real bodies!" LOLThat ending was fucking psychotic, I couldn't believe itThe redheaded prude/Ugly Cause She's Wearing Glasses professor was pure sex.Required viewing for Love Witch fans.
>>216952556I like his Stephen King adaptations but I hate his original slop
Wrong season for it but I liked The Bay quite a bit. Decent little found footage/faux documentary with some good practical effects and doesn't wear out its welcome with how short it is and its quick pace. More of a thriller than a horror film tho, surprised they didn't try to turn it into a zombie film halfway through.

>>216952993It is a horror movie
>>216928876>Dutch movie? You're thinking of The Lift. Elevator is a whole different animal.>>216935769New Year's Evil is ok but kind of mid.Bloody New Year is Schlock kino.>>216941478It's horror the same way the darker TZ episodes were. Mostly a lot of depressing bad ending stories though.
>>216952556His tv shows reeked so hard of soi I had to double check the uploader put on the right files.

Anaconda ain't being well received and seems to be more of a comedy, I don't think it'll even be worth torrenting sadly.
