It was established early on that she knows how to handle guns and even owns some herself. Wow, this part solidified this season to be "so bad, it's funny". I enjoyed previous seasons, but this season has so many issues.
The main issue is that the cast is so bloated, and most of the characters have nothing to do. Most notably, Mike, who has been reduced from protagonist to background character, and Lucas, whose only contribution this season was coming up with with idea of resurrecting the demogorgon. And they just keep bloating it by adding Eleven's sister, Robin's girlfriend, Dustin's teacher, and Lucas' sister into the encourage.

I enjoyed vol 1 and the first two eps of vol 2 until I realized that I got literally nothing I wanted from the set up of the end of s4
I wanted hawkins to be in total war, with demogorgs, dogs, and bats invading and the average citizen having to fight for their lives. I wanted the mindflayer to enter hawkins physically himself and for shit to go fucking crazy right from the start. I was willing to accept a timeskip because I deluded myself into thinking

Compare the penultimate episode of season 4 where the characters all gear up for the final battle with epic music and all the plotlines converging, and season 5’s penultimate episode where Will stops the show dead in its tracks to literally preach to an audience about being gay and no one cares. I think it's been a case of one by one these faults have become apparent to everyone. The terrible "20 soldiers standing in a circle unloading their ammo into one demogorgan without him flinching" left a sour taste in most people's mouths but they were willing to overlook it.

Now with all these overlong, overexplained pieces of dialogue by adults pretending to be kids just starting puberty, people are realising that they simply don't care about these characters and their stories. The terrible acting is also really obvious now that they've switched to serious stuff. The other Psychic girl is no longer British? The massively hyped little girl from the first 4 episodes has zero acting ability aside from looking distressed with her mouth hanging open. The less said about the special effects the better, them trying to repeat the running scene from the last season looked comically bad, running on a treadmill in a green screen room whilst they inexplicably have a bright white light shining in their face despite being in a moody red lit universe.
