>BTFOs Neytiri twice>BTFOs Jake & Quaritch >Makes Quaritch her slave>Mangkwans BTFOs the Windtraders, Metkayina and Omaticaya even with the Tulkuns AND FUCKING TORUKStrongest non-Kiri Na'vi
Everyone has agreed that her head represents a volcano with a black cloud and lava pouring out.
will it reach 1 billy before the end of the year?
Neytiri is racist to her own kids and threatened to kill a pregnant mother.
it was a surprise attack and toruk led the rally of the fliers aimed at the mangkwan after he recovered from his injury for a bit
>>216981472Quaritch fell onto the Toruk at the end and will show up on it in the next movie.
>>216981116I wonder if some of that was just Kiri taking Varang by surprise, or if you can train and prepare for a kuru CNS battle.
>>216981514Honestly I could have watched a 3 hour movie just of Quaritch and Varang and showing her modern/sci fi weapons and tactics.

>>216981116What are the chances that in A4, after the eight year time skip, we will see Payakan has made whale babies with his disabled gf?
>>216981116imagine the stench of her blue alien cat pussy
>>216981948The next movie is after an 8 year timeskip. I wonder if she'll be somewhat "domesticated" by then or still semi-feral,
TWO GENERALS AHHHHHHHHHH
>>216982087Is it a sign for...
Every single female Na'vi wants the human dick but there isn't a single male Na'vi that wants the human pussy. What does this mean?
>>216982249Come to think of it, the only relevant female human characters are general Sopranos (KIA) and heli pilot Lucia (KIA).Grace transitioned into Kiri so there's that.I hear something about that flying dragon lady being in the next one.
I'm in love
>>216981400Based based based
>>216981400she isn't racist towards her kids she's just ashamed when their skydemon parts make them stand out. Also Ronal had it coming.
>>216982600what ps5 game is this?
>I'm in this place where I have nothinganyone else felt this was an awkward sentence? Sounds too contemporary. She has a similar line in 2 >your son is actually bleedingactually? Really? That's how Neytiri speaks?
>>216982600She is a racist, she arguably invented racism on Pandora. No Na'vi knew the meaning before her.
>>216982642What bothers me is that every other navi character speaks "normally" but neytiri is still talking in that weird choppy "primitive" way mean to convey navi are simple, like she did when Jake first met her. basically by switching over to "english is actually now navi-speak" she should've switched over to speaking more or less normally, to match everyone else, but she's still speaking like a halfwit.
>>216982017>I wonder if she'll be somewhat "domesticated" by then or still semi-feral,I'd like to think she just learns sort of what's expected, learn the language, some customs, ect, but still never lets you forget that she's in charge. I think it'd be great if she got to do some variation of the "Do you feel in charge?" scene.
>>216981174I'm more inclined to believe it's a reference to Jurassic Park
>>216982676Well she is... you know...
>>216982676neytiri is special
>>216982642You actually can not ask this
>>216982678It all depends on whether Quaritch and Varang go live in a tribal environment, or whether they go back to Bridgehead and then live there for 8 years. If they live at Bridgehead I can see her quickly acclimating to human decorum, she's shown to be sharp-witted and shrewd. I can also see her learning english and then sassing up or intimidating human staff. But if they retreated to a more tribal existence then both Quaritch and her would likely go all in with a tribal warlord behavior and it's more likely Quaritch would become more like her.I don't really see why they'd be welcome at the human base though, they fucked up, a lot of people got killed and frankly, Quaritch is just a mercenary, he doesn't really hold any sway there politically or otherwise. Any new brass coming in would be likely to arrest him and execute him than play his games.
>>216982642>>216982723>Jake you have to kill Spider, he doesn't belong here>Jake the wrong son died, you have to kill your other son, I can't bear looking at him he has the wrong number of fingers>Jake I don't even care about Tuk you have to kill her right now, do it right in front of me so I know it's done >Jake I hate these fish navi, they're disgusting, Jake please kill them all>Jake, Kiri is an abomination I hate her so much you have to kill her as well. I hate her voice and I hate that she has a demon in her and I hate that she talks to Eywa more than me>Jake you have to kill yourself, I love you but you have to die, I can't stand looking at you anymore now that you've killed everyone
>>216982676much like in Alexander (2004) everyone speaks a different dialect despite supposedly all speaking the same language (reef na'vi canonically have a different dialect from forest na'vi though).I mean Varang switches between cave dweller speak and seductress throughout the movie
>>216982737>they fucked upIt's not Quaritch's fault that three separate 1/1,000 long-shots intersected at the exact same moment needed for him to escape. Neytiri managed to slip past the defenses, the marine bio dude managed to hijack an unattended bulldozer, and Spider managed to lockpick his way out of containment. Quaritch was extremely competent. Granted, the following investigation would be a clusterfuck and everybody would be blaming the avatar-revenant in warpaint over themselves.
>>216982666>invented racismI kneel my Queen.
>>216982737most people that went on the whale hunt would have been killed which leaves very few people to actually speak against Quaritch if he comes back and claims he did what he could to salvage a hopeless situation. He might even argue that he and the mangkwan are the most effective weapon against the na'vi
>>216982809Yeah but again he's just a merc. And then died, and was brought back for a very specific mission, which he failed at, with catastrophic consequences.I don't see him falling upward any longer. He's a guy in the field and he isn't showing results.I'm guessing in the next movie human presence will continue to increase so his style of gung-ho ops will be even less in demand.
>>216981116>/afag/>a fagy'all queers itt
>>216982875Very true. My bet is that he goes native and deteriorates into a sort of inverted mirror of Jake's archetype.
>>216982762Neytiri is not a jewish old testament character
>>216982875Quaritch got high and donned tribal alien paint in this movie, there's no way he'll care about the human military after he gets his Toruk.
>>216982937I think he might return to Bridgehead, realize there's noone left in charge and noone to receive orders from, collect some military gear and then head out into the wilderness with Varang and her tribe.Next time we see him it'll be Jake going to get help from him and he'll be in full Kurtz mode somewhere deep in the jungle.
>>216982960this does sort of solve the issue of getting away from his Jake and Spider hunting autism, but then he does genuinely care for Spider so I can't imagine him just laying off for that entire 8 year time jump
i havent watched the avatar movies because i think long form content is an outdated way to consume media, but do the movies ever touch on the fact that realistically they would be capturing and breeding the cat women by the thousands for sex tourism?
>>216983057He seems pragmatic. He got orders to get Jake so that's what he was trying to do. But then the order-givers got fucked up so that's the end of that. And he knows Spider is in good hands so I can see him being okay with that. He's going to turn into that crazy meth uncle living out in the outskirts out of a trailer with his crazy meth wife.
>>216981548I hope so. Though I think Varang probably grabbed him.
>>216981811This.
I still don't understand why 14 year old Kiri has to sound like 75 year old Sigourney Weaver. Surely HACK Cameron could have made it digitally higher at least
>>216983097No. Pandora is too far from Earth. Just getting people and equipment there is difficult and takes a long time. Along with the atmosphere not being breathable, it’s one of the main reasons humans haven’t settled there quickly and the RDA struggles as much as they do with the Na’vi.
Why does Neytiri call hom "MaJake"? Is she mispronouncing his name and now it would be awkward to correct her?
>>216983157It's not even just the tone of the voice it's the really shitty voice acting. Sigourney keeps overemphasizing every other word. Literally sounds like a granny talking thinking people can't hear her.
>>216983186it's affectionate "my Jake"
>>216983186It's a black thing, like LeBron
>>216982721>>216982719Neytiri is very clever
>>216982875But he did bring in Sully. It wasn't his choice to show him off in their little plastic cell which led to his rescue. He also brought in Spider and the lab guys had enough time to study him and now have a new goal: replicating the mycelial integration that will let other humans live on Pandora without needing masks. That's the final key. The whale juice lets them live indefinitely, the spore will let them freely roam the new world. Ardmore almost killed off their most valuable asset out of impatience and even though she died, Parker won't let his dad or the other suits forget that. She tried to push both him and Quaritch out of the loop when they were the ones focused on the real prize.
>>216983200this
>>216983186Manigga you cannot be serious.
>>216983057Quarritch cares about Spider not dying. But he seems fine with Jake raising him somewhere else.
>>216983157The only good thing about watching this movie in non-english dub is that Kiri is voiced by an actual girl.
>>216983157I don't mind her sounding weird because she kind of is weird. It's clearly just because she is a clone of Siggy's previous character, but to me I like how it makes her stand out and clearly not a normal kid. She even has a moment in Fire and Ash where her voice gets all distorted when she commands Lo'ak, it reminded me of Dune.
>>216983315It would be really simple to fix Kiri's voice with AI, not as if there isn't plenty of source material of Sigourney Weaver as a young woman to draw from. I'm annoyed that Cameron didn't do it.
>>216983254the entire thing is a mess since he only really has a mandate to get Jake and no other command whatsoever and his team is dead. So he's just a merc. And the entire Bridgehead base apparently has one general and no other officers in sight. and I don't think they want him as a liability around since there are constant fiascos with the Jake saga. the movie is kind of misleading because it keeps showing Quaritch as someone with charisma of a leader, but his actual role in the human hierarchy keeps diminishing. In Avatar he was presumably the main merc leader of the human base, then died then brought back for one purpose only, to find Jake and nothing else then he flexed that a bit and in the end everything went tits up. I don't see him coming back to the base and going "well I just got promoted to general haha". His story progression has his path diverge from the human side, not reinforce it.
>>216983360You're purposefully ignoring the fact that she (a 75 year old woman) kissed Spider (a CHILD). Even if you like her voice she should then avoid problematic dialogue/actions
>>216983097It's getting there. see >>216978063
>>216981116When Quarritch brings his gf to the human base he introduces her to the general as:>This is Varang, the Tzahik of the Mankwan. For us as the audience this is a perfectly understandable sentence. These movies are very immersive after all, and draw you into that alien society. But for the general it must be pure gibberish. So in a way, we viewers have gone native too. Bravo, Cameron.
>>216983399>they didn't show the entire command structure so it must be this one woman in charge with zero contingency for her death or any lower chain of command to take over really dude?
>>216983399No half-way professional military would let Quarritch within a thousand miles of the Jake hunting operation. He's too compromised by personal feelings (revenge against Jake, father to Spider).
>>216983444>But for the general it must be pure gibberishI mean, I'm sure he's been briefed on as much information about the Na'vi as is available. It wouldn't be complete gibberish.
>>216983450Honestly yeah. It follows the same stupid saturday morning cartoon logic like the rest of the human ops on Pandora. It's GIJoe logic. Quaritch shows up on base and just immediately gets briefed by the general personally. There's only two scientists working there total. One whaler. One corpo executive, etc...
>>216983444based appreciator
>>216983463They're not military, they're mercs. Everyone on Pandora are private contractors.
>>216983483Quaritch is specifically an ex US marine like Jake. They're technically mercs now but they still kept the military in them.
>>216983468I know the movie only focuses on a handful of characters but you cannot be this stupid. Do you think the base has no toilets because they never show them taking a shit? Bridehead is 6 miles across and you think there are only two scientists there.
>>216983520My point is that the RDA is not a military, it's the security arm of a megacorp, and the people calling the shots at the top are not military.
>>216983399>I don't see him coming back to the base and going "well I just got promoted to general haha".he should and then he should shoot anyone that disagrees while Varang gives him bedroom eyes
>>216983529I'm saying that you're headcanoning complexity into a story that is written like a saturday morning cartoon.>yeah dude there are five more generals and 10 more corporate leaders just outside of frame, laughing with meMaybe there are ten more Quaritches running around with ten more Lyles too.
>>216983463Quarritch represents millions of corporate investment and years of experience. His accomplishments outweigh his failures which is why he was sent back.
>>216983444for me it was sitting in a packed theatre with the entire audience buying in to talking whales, and nobody rolling their eyesCameron is a master filmmaker
>>216983444>Kempe leren?>MaweyLoved this bit. This is Cameron reminding us that Varang doesn't know any English and she and Quaritch are always speak Na'vi which is English to us. Second, for the very first time it puts Varang in a position of vulnerability where she's completely out of her element and has to trust Quaritch taking charge and rely on him handling the business.
>>216983571Little missy.
>>216983571it's funny when she tells her goons to stand up straight and not look scared
>>216983399>I don't see him coming back to the base and going "well I just got promoted to general haha". His story progression has his path diverge from the human side, not reinforce it.it would be fun actually for him to arrive back at base and find out that everyone in the military who outranked him is dead with replacements 3 years away, so he hangs out there with the ash tribe for a while as relations between the remaining humans and quaritch continue to deteriorate

>>216981116I really liked the first Avatar but the last two were shit and just blatantly recycled the plot of the first film, minus the whole 'torn between two worlds' dynamic. Especially F&A. The entire fucking climax is an exact repeat of WOW. I almost didn't believe what I was watching. Only things I found remotely interesting were the Ash people and the Colonel's "arc", if you can call it that.
>>216984071They're both queens of /tv/, there's no need for waifuwars
>>216983712>>216983771I have aphantasia stage 5. I didn't even know I was disabled like that until a few years ago when I randomly heard about it. I always thought that when people in a story or whatever say that they see their wife's face before them it was meant as poetic hyperbole. Or when during meditation exercises they tell you to "imagine waves on the beach" it was a deliberately impossible task to make you shut down your reasoning (like koan poetry). But apparently normal people can just activate a video game HUD and impose fake visuals over their eyes? I dream at night (mostly nightmares), so I vaguely know what fake images are like. But I can't willingly visualise anything. I'm so fucking jeleaous of people with imagination now. Especially for porn and masturbation. Can you guys just willingly summon a pov video of Varang having sex with you??? But it also sounds a bit scary: Like, when you stand at a red traffic light and it turns green. How do you know it's really green, and not just your imagination? Is that why people are obsessed with platon's cave?

>>216984161Not trolling. Just severely mentally disabled I guess. I think I'm otherwise high IQ (I even have a phd), but knowing on what I'm missing out on with imagination is driving me one step closer to do an Lo'ak.
>>216984203You have to give it to her, usurping your father as the leader of the tribe at 15 and then managing to hold power for years tells you how sharp and dangerous she is. She's also unusually ambitious for a Na'vi
>>216984068uh...yeahLOLOLOLOL
>>216984273>>216984206For me personally it depends on the mental state and surroundings. If it's calm or I'm chilling in a chair or a bed it can be very clear, but other times "the movie" is not totally stable and crisp. Sometimes you have to rewind it too to get the better version because it gets somewhat trippy.
>>216984273That's so stupid, you can't even know if there's actually a discrepancy between what others experience and you do. They're just interpreting their headspace. Questions like your traffic light one actually do trip up the framework and nobody can accurately explain what they mean in relation to the real environment they see with their eyes.
>>216984118>Like, when you stand at a red traffic light and it turns green. How do you know it's really green, and not just your imagination?just is bro, sorry you're defective
>>216981116The entrance of her tent is a vagina.Very subtle here Cameron.
>>216983771>>216983838I can't even tell how this chart is meant to be interpreted. If someone tells me to think of an apple, unless that was the explicit instruction, I won't see some 4K transparent background image of an apple, that isn't how constructing something from memories works. Images have context, always.
>>216983841It's not an issue of believablity, it's just the emotional moments they go for where they attempt at personification that just never really lands emotionally for me. It takes me out of the movie and makes me feel like I'm watching a sappy save the whales PSA. And don't get me wrong, I think IRL whaling should be outlawed.Compared to WOW I will say that I actualy though they had some cool moments in this film though. The way the water rippled when the old ones spoke during the council meeting was really neat. And the RDA watercraft getting squashed after their "I thought you said these things were docile" moment was funny. No no, the space whales were simply choosing death before this.
>>216984438>If someone tells me to think of an apple, unless that was the explicit instruction, I won't see some 4K transparent background image of an appleI just picture an apple on a solid black or white background

Alright, I'll play the Avatar Video game. It even has a 3rd person mode now.
RDA wants to subdue Pandora? They can put sun blocking shades in orbit around Pandora to lower global temperature to ice age level. The forest will naturally die off and Navi with it. The material for shades can be found on the other moons orbiting the same gas giant Pandora does, where Eywa can't do shit.Sky people should fight with the sky as their weapon

Or do you see none of that until the text gives you the details?
>>216983645Funny enough the new game kinda implies that's what happened. He seems to be top dog post Ardmore's death. The game actually builds him up as more competent than her. I've very fascinated by the script split that happened with 2 and 3. Was it all one script ending at 3's attack on the whales and 2's boat crash was created following the split? Did Cameron earnestly have the entire narrative as we saw it across the two movies and split it?I just want to know more about the decision making, as while I think this does work standalone it is absolutely the 2nd half of Avatar 2, which is even crazier as I thought Avatar 2 worked fine as it was.Cameron might be the master

So what would actual fans of these films on this vietnamese basket-weaving forum consider the major flaws of the most recent film to be? The "critics" seem to have very unfavorable opinions. But as with the last two films, I enjoyed it overall. First thing, and this isn't exactly a negative for but it felt a lot like I was binging a season of a TV show rather than watching a film. The negative aspect comes from the fact that at many points there were situations and interactions throughout the film (and the previous one) that I feel were repetative. The battles are always cool and the perilous situations for any of the Sullys are tense because you don't want them to die and you know they arent afraid to kill them off. But how many hostage/captive situations will be escaped from? How many standoffs and deals will be made without anybody deciding to skip the theatrics and just pull the trigger? How many times will the RDA try the same comically evil retarded shit over and over again? What random miracle will Eywa do next? I'm reaching for criticisms because I do like these films and I intend to keep watching till Jimmy is unable to make them anymore. I just can't really put my finger on why I dont LOVE these films.
Saw it for the first time today. I don't know what to say. I feel empty inside. Noticed some literary allusions in it, Jake & Spider = Abraham & Isaac, Scoresby and that blind tulkun = Ahab & Moby DickI loved Varang. FIRE FIRE DEATH DEATH, what a chuuni little girl she is. She's younger than she seems, really. When things don't go her way she panics, and she acted very petulant with Lo'ak.>Make thunder!>I told you, no thunder>MAKE THUNDER!LmaoAnyway I'm going to go see it again. I don't think other filmmakers are even trying anymore
>>216985934Also Quaritch usually sounds younger than 70, which is better. No real reason avatar people should sound the same as their human body
I am legitimately confused by the navi being upset about deaths, like yes they are dead and in the spirit world and that sucks for them i guess but the movie literally opens with the brothers hanging out despite the oldest's death. I just don't quite understand the human view of death, where we don't know what happens, is being applied to them when apparently even in death the navi can still all hang out casually by connecting to tree wifi.
>>2169859862 and 3 are 1 movie, that's why there are so many repetitive scenes. I guess in the next 2 things will be much different. Like 4 is said to be much darker and 5 will happen on Earth.
>>216985984It'll be lucky to beat Lilo & Stitch.
>>216985986I agree both movies repeat the same things too often and despite having a combined runtime of six and a half hours there's still a lot missing. Did they really have to cut a bunch of scenes to have another fucking whale montage?I guess you can say that everything good about the movie is because it's Camerons unrestrained vision, but everything bad about the movie is because it's Camerons unrestrained vision (he loves whales)
Anyone else think the ashen people should've been the main antagonists of the movie? They were built up so much only to be sidelined by "humans bad" shit
>>216985903Do they scale the guns up for giant hands?
>>216985929Why wouldn't they? Even dolphins know how to do it
>>216985934James and his team are so ass at writing teenage dialog. Its like what a board of executives imagine how a bunch of kids talk
>>2169859861 > 3 > 2Cameron is obsessed with underwater filmography. Wasted years trying to experiment underwater mocap and waiting for tech to advance even further. If he was more pragmatic, he would've made Quaritch and Varang evil duo in 2010s. Quaritch can do the same shit Jake experienced in Avatar 1 and it still would be 10x more fun than what we got in Avatar 2.
>>216985864He'd spam. And then he'd spam. And then he'd spam some more. His autism seemed to simultaneously be>Avatar is the greatest movie ever madebut also>No one else is ever allowed to speak about or mention Avatar, to discuss Avatar is to disrespect it, only "haters" post about Avatar so I must stop them as the True Avatar RespecterAnd this was before CAPTCHAs or post timers so he could literally just make the whole board 100+ threads of himself proclaiming Avatar's greatness and how everyone else is forbidden to speak
>>216986277Seems the general consensus is that Quaritch and Varang were the best part of the new film and I'd agree with that. First film he was just generic army dude villain to me. Second film he felt like a rehash out of left field along with spider. But this film he was the highlight. I'm fully on board with him being a rival character or getting a redemption arc or whatever the fuck Jimmy has planned for him.

It was like my dick was the legendary sword Excalibur I simply couldn't pull it out. >Of course said unprotected sex lead to you. In retrospect I should have worn a rubber. Luckily Pandora has no child support laws so I was safe.>Anyways after she gave birth to you I started avoiding her. Truly the finest and tightest piece of human ass on this moon.>And she was a good friend.
Okay let's get an answer to the most burning question the movie raised.Would you, or would you not eat Quarich's burger?
>>216982600>she's just ashamed when their skydemon parts make them stand outThat's a little bit racist
>>216985543It was actually all one script with 2, 3 and 4Some anon's have said they were at a test screening early in the year where they had a terraforming weapon in orbit that damaged eywa planet wide and that jake armed the na'vi with guns because it was all or nothingCameron corroborates this last part in an interview where he said he changed away from that because there were already na'vi with guns and he pulled toruk makto forwards from movie 4
>>216986515just looked like an empty bun to me. Really sad burger. He better teach the ash na'vi how to BBQ
>>216985543>Cameron might be the masterThis is something everyone has to figure out sooner or later
>>216986540maybe they should behave a little bit better and not subject their mother to such suffering?
>>216986388If you really look into it, Mangkwan was already in other Avatar media even before they filmed Avatar 2. So Varang and Quaritch was probably planned back then. Also if you analyze Way of Water it looks like a story solely meant for Lo'ak after getting exiled when he accidentally caused his brother's death. Then he gets redemption after taming a Tulkun which is analogous to Toruk. So why does Avatar 2 and 3 seemed to be mixed and matched? What happened? One possible answer: Disney interference - they wanted more family friendly easy to understand story. Notice how Avatar 2 and 3 has less Navi language. That's got to be Disney executive meddling. I mean Cameron spent months teaching the cast to learn Navi in Avatar 1. Why waste it unless it's ordered by the higher ups? Another thing, Way of Water is perfect for Disney rides and it we did see it in Flight of Passage ride. In Hollywood, it's always about compromise between director, writer and producers. Sure Cameron has a lot of pull but ever since Fox got bought out he needs to cater to Disney whims. So as a compromise he made Way of Water first. I also believe Spider is an idea from an executive as a sort of audience self insert. You see this shit in Disney movies where they'd have child characters or comedy characters because they believe it makes the movie more relatable.
https://youtu.be/KM4qJBNhY_QI just hope that the next movie shows the humans learning from their experience and making the cockpit of their vehicle arrow-proof, so the Na'vi need to find new ways to disable them.Like, it made sense in the first two movies, because these were utility vehicles first and foremost and were not expecting a massive assault, but showing the RDA being smart and ruthlessly pragmatic will go a long way to make them feel even more threatening.
>>216986290Oh, it was for the first Avatar... I'm too much of a young/newfag for that. Thanks for the explanation.
>>216986754I love these movies, but having three of them end with Na'vi launching a massive attack against a large RDA force, with the Na'vi initially losing then the tide being turned by the planet itself intervening seems a bit much.
Tried to rewatch the movie but it's honestly quite shit, I'm just rewatching Varang scenes

>>216986060That's just a backup copy of all his memories when he went to the spirit world for the last time, he didn't know how he died.
>>216986750>meant for Lo'ak after getting exiled when he accidentally caused his brother's deathI genuinely don't remember how he died... Was it during the final fight in 2? Or was it earlier?>I also believe Spider is an idea from an executive as a sort of audience self insertThe consensus seems to be that it's Cameron's own self insert, finally getting to bang Weaver.
>>216986772Yeah, especially considering that in this case the planet intervening seemed to be presented as a result of Kiri finally breaking through to Eywa. Yet the planet had intervened twice already without Kiri's breakthrough. Not mention how earlier in the movie Kiri was able to perform an even more spectacular miracle without having her breakthrough to or the guidance of Eywa.

>>216986910I feel like Kiri getting through to Eywa actually undermined her developments earlier in the movie. She interacts with the environment herself, not through prayer. That seems like a much more active character development
>>216986946Jake explains it in the third movie.>If Lo'ak had done what he was told, he wouldn't have been near the whaling ship and the kids wouldn't have gotten captured, so they wouldn't have needed to be rescued, so Neteyam wouldn't have died tryingBasically it boils down to Lo'ak making friends with Payakan.
