Solid ending, no big surprises, not a 10/10 mindblower, but they did everything they needed to do with minimal bullshit, gave everyone a little something and left on the right note. This is the weakest season imo but overall I’m satisfied and I think they landed the plane well enough. The Will scene was poorly executed and serves as a blemish similar to S2s weird side story episode, and the show was definitely strongest in its first season, but the ride was worth it to the end.

So they were all going through that hole in the wall to get to the next memory, then holly picks up the firepoker and decides she's going to stay back to attack him. But there is obviously no way derek would have fit through there. They literally made a point of max barely being able to fit through. So it felt like there was supposed to be a moment where the two of them decide together to attack henry so the rest could escape. Derek was already willing to stay behind and let the others save themselves earlier in the episode, and it would have made perfect thematic sense for these two to have a moment where they finally decide to actively work together, as that has been the theme of the entire fucking show. Power of friendship and all. So when holly slashed henry in the face, I expected derek to run up and body slam him with his absolute unit frame, only for them to job because theyre kids, THEN the flashback scene where will tells him he's gay, too, just like him. Instead, holly just gets knocked out, the rest of the kids vanish from the plot until the original gang defeats the mech. Speaking of which, it seems that vecna needed the 12 kids to amplifiy his powers so he could merge the worlds together, but he did NOT need them to revive the body(?) Of the mindflayer because he did that without them in a mind trance. It doesn't really make sense what he can and cant do at this point. Plus, where in the FUCK was the actual mindflayer? He isn't a projection of smoke. He is physically a dust being or whatever. That's how we see him existing multiple times in the abyss. And the smoke particles left the kids when they got removed from the spider.
