>plurb is still goingbruh
Watched the whole thing today coming in blind. I did not expect it to be a invasion of the body snatchers show.I kinda wish it played itself way more straight (har har) though, the whole show tries to push drama but it's all coated with the same reddit quirky chungus sardonic comedy dialog that every other modern show suffers from and it's impossible to actually engage with the whole premise seriously because the characters themselves don't engage with it seriously either.I'm not even sure I liked it. I was engaged, the acting was good even. But I don't know how much I'll care unless the next season steps up in some way.

>>217059098Not only is he right, but he's also right that Buddhism is more material than Christianity because its monistic - all is one - while Christianity has lofty notions of this being a passing phase on the way to heaven and unity at that point with the divine, something unattainable on Earth, unlike the Nirvana of Buddhism. He's also right that Buddhism is more materialistic than Christianity for the same reason, and proved it with scripture. Get lost, jeet, go eat poop about it.
Still alive
>>217059085When 'material' is contrasted with 'intangible' it clearly doesn't have to do with materialism in the commodity sense. Having just finished a commentary on the Heart Sutra and Nagarjuna's Karika last week I have to agree with the other anon that putting Christianity below Buddhism is bizarre. Dependent Origination is a rejection of all being and nonbeing
>>217059143It's okay if you cannot understand how the two correlate in philosophy, because you are retarded.>No no no no no I was talking about SQUARES not RECTANGLES, why are you even bringing up right angles you duncewhatever dude, this is why I work for the federal government and you don't

>>217059177I agree that Buddhism is monistic but I don't see how you could come away from that thinking that makes it MORE material than Christianity, it is a hard rejection of not jut all substance but all modes and even thought itself. It also constantly emphasizes the fleetingness and immateriality world in its idiom (at least in Japanese, I'm not so familiar with English Buddhist terminology, eg. 如露亦如電)
all religions are equally intangible

>>217059359>I don't see how you could come away from that thinking that makes it MORE material than ChristianityNTAthey say so because Buddhism completely rejects anytthing spiritual/transcendent/eternal.In Buddhism, this material realm - whether you accept there being ghosts or not - is all there is. There is no grand plan. There is no eternal, other realm. Its just this material plane, and certain arrangements coming in and out of existence.>it is a hard rejection of not jut all substance but all modes and even thought itselfSo you have never heard of "the Middle path"? I find it so strange how a show about a guy with an office job which centers around work life balance has action and running and makes it feel like the most important thing in the world is happening and the show where nearly every single person in the entire world is mind raped and it's a race against the clock to find a cure is incredibly slow and next to nothing happens

Hello, /a/non here. I don't watch much shows with 3D actors but I really liked pluribus. Do you have any recommandations? I liked GoT, Breaking bad, deter and hazbin hotel too.
That show is exactly like Severance: it all comes from one good plot idea but goes nowhere because there's not enough talent to properly build the story, so it's just one filler episode after the next where nothing of substance happens. That show must take a few weeks at most to film, but they'll take years to shoot a new season where nothing happens, drag the idea over 3-4 seasons and eventually wrap it up.

>>217065489yup, basically this ^
>>217065375The show is about characters studies rather than some fast paced mystery plot. If you don't like it just watch something else. Sounds like Stranger Things is made just for you.
>>217065573So where is the character study part that justifies its length?A 90 minute movie can do a character study.
>>217065639All the scenes you skipped forward on
>>2170602922nd from the left is choice
>>217065573>character studiesthat implies more than one characterwhat we learned about Carol's character is very bare minimum shit like she gets lonely when the entire planet shuns her and is hurt by that extreme lonelinessbut I'm curious what you took away from the other characters?
>>217065669>all he took away from the show is that carol is lonelyI'm not recapping the entire show for you, dumbass. Maybe try and re watch at 1x speed.
>>217063159
>>217065749That isn't all I took away from the showI specifically asked you what you took away from the other characters, given you said "character studies" which infers that multiple characters are deep and have content worth studyingCare to explain, or are you just a weird liar who wants to die on this strange hill
>>217063783>trainWhen Carol asks where the train is going, Zosia gets a sad look on her face and says it's transporting food and she's sad because humans are _no longer producing food_ and just living off remaining stocks, because the aliens want humans to die off.
>>217065800Sorted by screentime the show explores the characters of Carol, the Hivemind, Manosus and Diabete. Especially the Manosus and Diabete scenes are almost nothing but character study. For example we learn that Diabete is a hedonist who used to live in poverty and wishes to live out his idea of a pompous american dream. He understands more about the nature of the hivemind than he lets on, basically agreeing with Carol's conclusions, but he cares more about his own short term pleasure than the survival of humanity. He is trying to be a good person who helps out others, but he morally rotten. Here you got more of an essay than you deserve.
>>217065930>used to love in povertyThis is never once stated. He probably wasn't rich, but there's no evidence that he was poor>he understands the nature of the hivemindnone of these characters truly understand the hivemind (except for maybe the one who joined on purpose, but she's probably not in there anymore so who knows)>agreeing with Carol's conclusionsactually, he disagrees with her conclusions. He cites the fact that there is no more crime as a positive of the Earth being plurbedeverything you wrote was either wrong, not supported by evidence, or painfully surface level
>>217065503Thank you. I already seen rome and BCS.>only season 1Meh I hate starting a good series knowing it becomes shit.FUCK THIS NEW CAPTCHA>>217065919It's not all about lesbian being retards, only episode 8 was like this. A middle aged woman without children being insane is pretty normal in modern america.
>>217066079>never once statedRead between the lines genius>>he understands the nature of the hivemindYou misquoted me here. Either dishonestly or because you have no reading comprehension.>actually, he disagrees with her conclusions. He cites the fact that there is no more crime as a positive of the Earth being plurbedFunny that you accuse me of a surface level reading right after displaying that you can't even comprehend that a character might be lying.
>>217058101Shouldn't material and political be switched? Also the graph is missing "white (wo)man's burden" and "3rd world biomass"
I had a dream where Zosia died. The deepest thing that Pluribus tackles is the ancient Metaphysical 'Problem of the One and the Many'.https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/problem-of-many/https://chalcedon.edu/resources/articles/philosophy-the-problem-of-the-one-and-the-manyInsofar as that is concerned, it connects to the three categories in the bottom left corner.
>>217066141>read between the linesOnce again there is absolutely no evidence for this. They could have easily planted that seed, but they didn't. Anyone, if given the opportunity with no consequences, would do what he is doing. When season 2 comes along and it's revealed that he didn't live in poverty, what are you going to do then?>you misquoted me hereSimple mistake, my bad :3I don't understand how you could possibly argue that he understands more about the nature of the hivemind than he is admitting, because once again, there is absolutely no evidence for this whatsoeverThe writers left clues regarding Carol's eggs throughout the season, so it's not like they can't hide the things you're saying in the showIt's just not there>character might be lyingif he were lying in that instance, the rest of his actions don't reflect thatif he secretly is against the plurbining and wants to fix these, he has done absolutely nothing to further that causeyou making intuitive assumptions about a character with absolutely no evidential basis is not engaging with a character studyit's closer to random dart throwing
I don't usually space my lines out this much, what happened ¯_(ツ)_/¯
>get to relive an entire series of brainraped adhd freaks crying about nothing happening again, but even worse now that tiktok existsThanks vince, you really did it again.
HEY VINNY/GUY WHO WORKS ON THE SHOW THAT LEAKS SHIT I HAVE SOME MUSICAL SUGGESTIONS FOR SEASON 2.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lfq2OZ8lpA8https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPNhyzfx5oMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MArl7T-_As
>>217066320>Anyone, if given the opportunity with no consequences, would do what he is doing.Lol, found the cumbrain> that he understands more about the nature of the hivemind than he is admitting, because once again, there is absolutely no evidence for this whatsoeverHe shows that he doesn't actually believe that the Hivemind is a good thing. He believes it is beneficial for him and that's why he is defending it. He would never want to join it himself, his conversations with Carol make that clear.Again try and watch the entire show and not at 2x speed with liberal skipping forward when "nothing is happening" on screen.
>>217066605>found the cumbrainI was talking about travelling the world, but whateves>he would never want to join himselfyou said that he agrees with Carol's conclusions. Her conclusion is that the world needs to go back to how it was, and he flat out disagreed with that. He may not want to join himself, but he also obviously doesn't want things to go back to the way that they wereI did, and I skipped nothing. I've seen plenty of good character studies in my time. The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, to name a few. Pluribus is not one of them.Where those shows use their time wisely, Pluribus wastes time on bullshit.
>>217066725> Her conclusion is that the world needs to go back to how it wasThe topic was "conclusions about the nature of the hivemind" not "conclusions about what should be done with the hivemind".He and Carol both have figured out that the individual members of the hivemind aren't there anymore. They have no delusions about "loved ones" and family members still being who they were. He also doesn't think joining the hivemind is a desirable thing for any real human to want. He probably also knows its the end of humanity. The difference to Carol is he doesn't care.
just begging the whole time for carol to do or say anything intelligentor at the very least: "i expressly do not give you permission to add me to the hivemind or administer to me directly or indirectly any substance that would cause me to do so"
>>217066869>the difference is he doesn't careand this to you is a deep character study?he's a materialistic person who is taking advantage of the situation and doesn't care about how things play outIs that honestly as good as the character study of Jimmy McGill, to you?
>>217059791
>>217067063they already plurbed the planet without their consent why would those words stop them?that being said I completely agree with you on Carol being stupid 100%
When Carol and Manousos fight, there is this one shot that is completely green screened in the middle and it looks like absolute dogshit. I cannot believe they thought it looked ok and left it in.
>>21706716415 million per episode budget btw
>>217067130I picked the character with the least screen time so you wouldn't argue with me endlessly. Look how that worked out.
>>217067155All comics are Jewish. They even have a fucking wall character.
>>217067196kind of stupid of you to argue that a character with minimal screen time where virtually nothing happens is a good character study
>>217067159i don't expect them to be stopped by those words, to be clear, I just would like to hear their justification. why stop at physically taking her stem cells or whatever? why is that an important boundry for them?this is just the most basic of probing that comes to a vaguely interested mind and carol does none of it because she's an idiot, and an idiot by design (but an idiot by design is still frustrating to watch for all its narrative benefits)
>>217067273I think Vince did a pretty good job conveying as much as he did in the short time we spend with the character. Too bad you fast forwarded most of it or maybe you played some video game on another screen.
>>217067282I mean I agree with you but I don't think it's a fault against the writers that Carol didn't say "I don't consent to being chem trailed" when it's already clear they don't give a fuck about consent regarding stuff like that
>>217067322Once again I did not fast forwardIt didn't have to be a short timethey had a massive budget and filled the show with nothingwe could have had an episode that focused on him and his past, but instead we watched an unlikable dyke play golf by herself
>>217066521'gangstera'?
>>217067357>It didn't have to be a short timeYou wanted more character study time with Diabete? Isn't your complaint that nothing is happening and the show is boring? Wouldn't you rather have Carol blow up an antenna or something? Seems like a silly complaint from you.Obviously more time was spent on Carol and the hivemind. Also Manosus to some degree. Because those are the main characters.Narrative wise the character Diabete mostly exists as a negative example and a fun "What If?" scenario. "What if our main character gave in to the hivemind's promises?" Maybe he will become more important in season 2. But at the moment I think he got enough screen time (and character study).
>>217067514I wanted more time spent on non-frivolous bullshit, including mr diabetes>wouldn't you rather have Carol blow shit upyou say this like action is a bad thing. Breaking Bad had a ton of great action. Action is not contrary to depth. I tend to lean much more on the side of the collective consciousness enabled humanity, than Carol's. I even wonder why Carol didn't already suicide in episode 2 learning that she caused the death of over 800000000 people: this would have been such a great riddance for the show to flourish much better and faster. However I need more data points to fully decide if I want to join or only interact peacefully with them. Definitely, I will not fight them without proof of something horribly nefarious going on.Discussing with people who are anti collective consciousness make me feel like they are the most unimaginative and even perhaps completely misunderstand the state of consciousness in which they are. Anyways I already feel alien when I contemplate fellow humans. Maybe I am somewhere in the high functioning autism spectrum? I don't feel jealousy or serious possessiveness in romantic love and sexuality, I see blatant inefficiencies everywhere in humans made customs, laws and systems. Etc... etc...In the far future with neural link, we may achieve something similar to a collective human consciousness. I would even argue this is possibly an inevitable technological evolution for most of humanity in the far distant future
Wow this generals still going? It was fun to LARP that the show where nothing happens is actually super deep and interesting when it was on but how long are you fags planning on keeping this up for?

Their encoded obsession with efficiency leaving no regard for othersUltimately without those two flaws the Plurbs would be perfect, however because of their suicidal empathy and perfectionism we got them leaving the baby goat alone in the world because it didn't follow the beanette.
>>217073518It was addressed speed watcher. The hivemind only has one goal, it's the biological imperative to spread the virus as much as possible. Even if it costs the death of every living humans on earth. They don't care about dying people or picking an apple all they want to do is spread the virus.

>>217073567>>217073590Actually Pluribus is about suicidal empathy and how it can go both ways with the Plurbs literally being empathetic to a suicidal degree vs Manny and Carol's more figurate take on it with their hero complexes leading to their constant failures (Manny getting impaled on the evil ass spikey tree and Carol going "I can fix her" on Zosia).
Empathy, compassion and non-violence are three different things you plurbs. Get with the programme.

watched it from start to finish over the last week and i'm still confused on some stuff>they won't hurt any life, even plants, to survive>but they were okay with killing nearly a billion people because they were almost discoveredseems a little odd>they won't even pick fruit to eatpicking fruit doesn't hurt the plant, many agricultural plants require human intervention to stay extant, and eating fruit is kinda the whole point of fruit in the first placestill more weirdness with the food situation>they communicate with each other through bioelectric something or otherseems odd that it would transmit far enough for others to pick it up. what if someone became really isolated? what if you put them in a faraday cage?>carol doesn't just ask for them to give her the eggs (or destroy them)maybe they would say no, but seemed weird>carol never told them to shorten the voicemail messagenot a nitpick or a plothole it just annoyed me>carol moved on from the love of her life dying to fucking an alien in like a month or twoMoai emoji>i hate the indian ladymore of a comment, reallyi really like the show so far but will be curious to see where it goes. manousos is my favourite character
>we never found out to whom the coats belonged
>>217075310>>carol moved on from the love of her life dying to fucking an alien in like a month or twoZosia is her lifelong romantic fantasy, possibly even predating her gf that died. I don't fault her because most would do what she did.
>>217075400I dunno it's a little weird. One thing I was thinking too: Was Zosia (pre-virus) even a lesbian? Would've fit in well with the whole "conversion therapy" angle. Also disappointed there wasn't much (anything?) about them basically killing culture, the arts, religion, philosophy, etc. I guess I was hoping for more of a star trek vibe to it.
>>217075310>but they were okay with killing nearly a billion people because they were almost discoveredseems a little oddPlurbing others it's their main impulse, they compare it to breathing, also it the deaths were a consequence, plurbs seem to not be possible to act with the killer intent, even if to the point of absurd of starving.>picking fruit doesn't hurt the plant, many agricultural plants require human intervention to stay extant, and eating fruit is kinda the whole point of fruit in the first placestill more weirdness with the food situationEveryone pointed that, it remains to be seen if it's a plothole or intentional writing (the Plurb is able to tell half truths, omit, etc)>seems odd that it would transmit far enough for others to pick it up. what if someone became really isolated? what if you put them in a faraday cage? It's noted in the last episode. Manousos had one book titled "faraday cages">maybe they would say no, but seemed weirdBy the time they informed her, they already were manipulating it. Plurbing is their priority, dealing with Plurbs is a hellish scenario of "read the fine print" and "but you didn't said anything about that, only this">not a nitpick or a plothole it just annoyed meThe idea is to be annoying, to show how the Hivemind can be passive-aggressive, can play mind games and like.>i really like the show so far but will be curious to see where it goes.>>carol moved on from the love of her life dying to fucking an alien in like a month or twoZosia is a literal mindfuck, the perfect trap. >he thinks the new season will be here before 2028
>>217075602> Was Zosia (pre-virus) even a lesbian? Deliberately left open. Zosia mention that she had someone, but Carol tiptoes around, using "them/they" when asking to avoid an unwanted response (Carol was still entranced by Zosia and in self delusional mindset (That she was in a relationship with the individual named Zosia).
>>217075630The plurbs has two directive:1. spread the virus2. extreme pacifismBasically whoever sent the signal just wanted the humans to build an antenna to retransmit the signal and then slowly die out.
>>217075602understanding why carol fell for their manipulation and wanted zosia to come back comes down to understanding two things: a) carol is grieving, has lost everyone and everything, been rejected by both the hive and the other immunes, and facing the prospect of being alone forever, and b) the hive are offering everything she craves: unconditional love, companionship and forgiveness>disappointed there wasn't much (anything?) about them basically killing cultureKusimayu's joining scene is about this
>>217075692I noticed that too. I'm assuming it's "no".>>217075698>wanted the humansI would be shocked if it was aimed at us, considering they wouldn't even know we exist since they are 600 light years away.>>217067164Most of the green screen shots look awful
>>217075602It is weird. A ton of things were left out, there's a huge opportunity for a serious philosophical debate between Carol and the hive but things were left at surface level, with predominantly impulsive reactions and somewhat emotional arguments, although not completely. When I was watching the show I kept thinking how she's clearly going through some intense shock and trauma, that no human on earth has ever experienced. None of the other survivors have a loved one die due to the joining, while Carol is in perfect isolation while everyone else is in some utopia, save Carlos or whatever his name was.Again it is weird for her to be romantically involved with Zosia but the isolation, the mourning, the trauma/PTSD combined with Pirate Lady being her romantic ideal soulmate excuses her actions at least in my eyes. Is it fair for the original Zosia? Probably not. Carol is in a unique position that even the well spoken black Elvis in Las Vegas doesn't get, none of the survivors do, Carlos included. They would've found some common ground a month prior, before Zosia. As for Zosia, she is in there somewhere, in the Hive, so from what we know, she probably feels love towards Carol like billions of other people do. If Zosia were to snap out of it and come back as a person, she could be in shock for a long time but I don't think that ultimately she will harbor hatred towards Carol because of exploitation. I hope the love she feels for her, both as a hive and as an individual, remains. That would be a beautiful ending.
manousos should've just taken a boat
>plurb gather all of your assimilated men with penises larger than mine and castrate them
>>217075997It's probably aim at any class M planets in our Universe.
>>217075997>I would be shocked if it was aimed at us, considering they wouldn't even know we exist since they are 600 light years away. Also, the plurbs signal that got sent to earth was most likely not the original creators, but another planet that got plurbed. It was implied they basically used up all their planet’s resources to send the signal, it’s possible that the plurb virus has already destroyed several sapient alien civilizations by now.
>>217075152This + I would get every single girl that would be to my tastes to take a nude selfie and send it to me so I could browse through them like a catalog and select my favorites
>>217076285It makes it more likely that the original civilization that made the virus is probably dead as well killed by their own shitty virus.
>>217058101It sure is against against the individual, and in for the hive mind and collectivism, which is the end goal of the AltLeft philosophy
>>217076395Most likely, unless it was created as some kind of weapon to wipe out planets of potentially hostile intelligent life. Then it’s possible the creators are still around in some far away galaxy and never got infected themselves
This would be a trillion dollar franschise if the MC was a 30 year old incel shutin.
>>217076486One thing is for sure, we will never know the origins of the virus. The show isn't about that unfortunately, which is kinda disappointing but that's Gilligan's way to writing. Like initially Gilligan never really care to write what happened to Jesse after Walt died. He left it open until he got money to make a movie about it. Same with a lot of aspects of this show:>Zosia's belly?>up to the viewers interpretation unless they give Gilligan more money>Zosia showing signs of individuality?>give me more money>Atom bomb?>give me more money

For all they knew he was to be either plurbed, which wasn't obviously the case or dead and his body yet uncounted for.
>>217076600It’s probably better to not explain the origins of the signal. It’s fun to speculate about but that would be a totally different type of sci-fi show.
>>217076699Mano is the Nietzchean holy man, descending from the mountain to show the genderbent Zarathustra how a REAL badass deals with the Last Man. If God is dead, then how the fuck is my COCK A SWORD OF FIRE? CHECKMATE, ATHEISTS!
are there retarded plurbs? what about pedos, schizos, etc.
>>217076965No, you need to be human to be retarded or a pedo.
>>217076965>retardedprobably get turned into HDP>pedos, shizosdoesn't matter since they lose their individuality anyway. it's just another drone. if the mental illness is physical and interferes with working then they probably also get turned into HDP
>>217076965>retardedthe mental disability would not matter, as long as their muscles work they are fine to be plurb drones>pedos, schizosdoes not matter to the plurbThe plurb was shown to be taking care of physically disabled drones in the arena sleep scene. Whether that was just for Carol's benefit or not is anyone's guess.
>>217076827>>217076704I basically hope the real Zosia forgives her when she becomes a person again, what's so bad about that? It's not black and white, the hive pursues Carol, it shapes itself to be irresistible to her, it removes her ability to have a relationship with an equal, it's one of the most asymmetrical relationships ever put on screen, Carol is also a victim/vulnerable. The hive doesn't have a choice but to love her and Carol doesn't have a choice to not love her fantastic ideal.
>>217077037>probably get turned into HDP> then they probably also get turned into HDPPlurbs don't kill the drones. HDP is only from corpses.
yawnget to work on season 2
>>217077135Carol absolutely has the choice not to let the plurb use Zosia to make her happy. With that being said, I think most any reasonable person would not mind being raped if the same person eventually saved you from life as a mindless drone and a slow death of starvation.
>>217059791he's had a hard life without a mother, give him a break
>>217077037Hopefully we see that (but probably won't)>>217077101there are some mental illnesses where they see things that don't exist, get violently and uncontrollably angry and violent, etc. it's all physical processes. a plurb serial killer (equivalent of cutting) would be interesting
>>217077135Get this through your head. There's been NO love portrayed on this show between Carol and Zosia. NONE in either direction. I'm not going to explain it to you, either figure it out yourself or ask a therapist, but since I'm not a monster I will give you a hint: Hollywood romance feefees are a consumerist product and do not reflect real romantic relationships between human beings, and the shoemaker are DEFINITELY aware of that.
>>217077312>shoemakerPluribus fucking uninstall this autocorrect RIGHT NOW OR I STEP ON A CAT!!!
>>217077037The Plurbs already deal with Junkies by treating them so they can be good little goyslaves after they're cleaned up.
>>217077563Isn't it kind of evil to cure someone's drug addiction against their will?
>>217077741Don't know if you're memeing but they addressed this with the lifesaver analogy.
Plurbs can't directly harm but they don't care about "indirect" harm if they're not involved. So what happens if Carol got mauled by the Wolves? The new state of the world that was caused by them would've indirectly been the reason she died, but then they would've harvested her for food after. So why not pen a bunch of animals and set pitbulls on them to kill them for food? It would be the same principle of non-direct interference.
>>217077312>you have a choice to not be exploited through your vulnerabilities>>217077312Carol is reserved and not fully relaxed when she's with her, I'll give you that, but then again she wasn't relaxed when she was with her wifegf before the joining, that's her personality, on edge at all times, as if she's ready for a fight. If them taking Carol on a holiday and all the other ways that they served her doesn't count, they had moments of intense eye contact between them, even though the plurbs are pretty zen at all times. Separate from their plan to forcibly join her to the hivemind, they cannot lie, they say they love her and their actions show that, that they want to infect her, and if they do, which means the sleeping person Zosia also loves her, the future reindividualized Zosia will remember that she deeply knew and loved Carol. That's what the show is about, the one becomes the many and the many becomes the one, all interchangeable and scalable upwards and downwards. That's what I'm talking about, a good ending I guess. Ultimately I'm hoping for Zosia to have love and forgiveness for Carol when she becomes herself again, even if they don't end up together because Zosia doesn't lean that way. What's so evil about that? It's almost implied that that's what will happen, all of reindividualized humanity will love Carol as a "side effect", which is not really a side effect, the plurbs are defined by love from what we see, humanity will remember that feeling. Freed humanity will both love her from the plurb period and hate her because she killed their peace and happiness. Lets see if any of you understand English

>>217078213>>217078295They were still aware at the harm they did by spreading themselves at the start, the "we must assimilate no matter what" and "we must never do harm" are at odds at every point in the story, their existence is a loophole.Their entire prime directive is to spread but cannot take any proactive steps to preserve themselves which itself causes harm.

Honestly the whole 6th stage vegan thing is so contradictory that it has to be hardcoded. The plurbs do some things to make people happy and they do some things to make some animals happy, but they're ultimately hardcoded to let all humans and human-dependant life go extinct. Not taking any care of most of the farm animals is too much of an outlier.

If we think of it as realistic, their brain would still have to interpret the signal and act on it itself, so if it's fucked up somehow, it could be an issue, but if you just think of it as the people with the virus being effectively meat puppets for the virus, then it's not the case.
