Why has the 1980s had a much longer nostalgia bubble than any decade before or since?
The 70s and 90s were depressing decades and its too early for 2000s nostalgia to hit full swing.
>>217070157Because it's when the jews went full-degeneration in Hollywood.>50s, cheating wifes start to becoming sympathetic because "evil or old husband">60s, racial tolerance is possible, "look in this scifi movie you can see humans and aliens chilling">70s, all the above plus drugs, hippie white-washing>80s, being a sexual degenerated is "cool", also nerds (ultra-bluepillers) win in the end, "loser wins over chad" revenge-porn fantasy started in that decade with the explosion of "dark fantasy", etc.>>217069317
>>217070280A lot of words meaning nothing.
>>217070157Because it was fucking greatThe music was greatThe economy was pumping Everyone had disposable incomeTons of new hobbies opened upThe coke was pure and relatively cheapPeople didn’t know about aids so everyone was banging each otherThank you rea-gan *clap clap clap clap clap*
>lots of money>awesome music>country still composed of white ChristiansIt's really not that hard
>>217070157The pop culture of the decade had a particular impact on Gen X manchildren who run the media industry today. That's simply the reason. Those people never really grew up.
>>217070346>each decade has its own ethos>you can appreciate each one by checking how the movies were made and what was the messa in the script (behind the scenes)>it's literally the greentext from Gor's picrel
>>217070352speak for yourself, 80s Britain was pure povertycore
Pop and Rock music dominated the radio. A lot of BIG directors like Spielberg were in their prime. Ignorance was bliss with lack of awareness on diseases and the american diet. Fashion was loud and the hair was big and sexy. I work in a care home and I've spoken to 90 year old who say if they could relive anything it would be the 80s.
>>217070157Because boomers are insufferable narcissists and they successfully sold nostalgia to depressed xoomers who miss their childhoods.
it was the best decade, simple as
>>217070157Because it fuckin rocked. Good music. Good movies. Good atmosphere. Its like asking why the Renaissance has had so much staying power
>>217070157Last era of creativity before the age of demoralization.
>>217070510>Because boomers are insufferable narcissists and they successfully sold nostalgia to depressed xoomers who miss their childhoods.lmao, this but unironically
>>217070157the peak of western civilisation
imagine going to the toy store and buying thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmqz3GqGDuI
>>217070157Because thanks to humanity's trash tearing down our civilization, there are millions who weren't even born yet who wish they could back
I have 80s worship fatigue. The 80s were a cool decade but a section of Gen X/Millennials pretends stuff like The Goonies, Back to the Future, E.T, etc. is the greatest shit ever.
>>217070226>2000s nostalgiaah yes, the good ol' days after nine eleven
>>217070226>its too early for 2000s nostalgia to hit full swingGTA Vice City is the earliest form of 80s nostalgia media I can personally think of, and the 80s were only 12 years over with when the game came out. 2000s nostalgia should be in full swing by now if we wanna go by those numbers, but I have a feeling that the market won't be flooded with nostalgia from the 2000s until the boomers die and millennials take over. Combination of boomers having been in power too long and thinking they're so great that they gotta shove all their nostalgia down everyone's throats. Think about how much of the children's media that early millennials consumed was filled with images from the boomers' childhoods. I think that's the real reason 80s nostalgia has been dominant: that's when the boomers had their real heyday and they're still in charge of media so that's what gets produced.
The people with money were growing up at the time, and thus are nostalgic.
>>217071266Vice City was very early. The normal nostalgia cycle is 30 years after the fact. This does however make the 80s all the more impressive for its mainstay.
>>217070157Because you're a zoomie and you have no idea how 60s nostalgia lasted from the mid 70s to the mid 2010s
>>217071036>Taiwanese made slop product selling the image of dying for Israel in the minds of the kidsunbelievably gay era
>>217071373you will never know the joy of buying realistic toy guns as a kid zoomer
>>217071266I'm a millenial, I was 12 in 2000's, so it's peak nostalgia-period for me. There's nothing to revive, literally zero. The good media from that period is high quality enough to be relatively timeless. There's no specific style from the 00's that can be revived.
>>217070384GenX lived in the shadow of nuclear annihilation at a moments notice, which weren’t unfounded fears considering a couple of misunderstandings nearly did cause the nukes to fly. Feels like a Cold War kind of world again so maybe Gen Alpha will have the same indifferent attitude.
>>217071320Only in the UK
>>217070280dumb, stupid, retarded, lunkheaded ESL
>>217071320It absolutely fucking didn't. 60's nostalgia is very niche, it has produced just a handful of movies/games/songs, nothing compared to the 80's
>>217071184Things I’ve seen millenials nostalgic over>blockbuster>brick phones>no social media (forgetting about MySpace, AIM, and geocities to look cool in front of zoomers) >non DLC vidya >TRL>I dunno, magazines? I’m an Xboomer.
>>217070157One of the biggest 80s film franchises is about a guy going back in time to the version of the 1950s from Happy Days
>>217071574Yes, the decades spanning revival based on vhs-rental and no-dlc will kick off any day now
>>217071320>Because you're a zoomie and you have no idea how 60s nostalgia lasted from the mid 70s to the mid 2010sand if it was made today they would go back in time to the 1980s
The 2000s was really a pretty awful decade nobody wants to remember. Do you want to remember 9/11 and bling rap? Nobody does.
>>217070157cargo culting. All the elements to destroy the country had been put in place during the 60s and 70s. The 80s, with Reagan, who was very Trumpian, both were in show biz, both likely blackmailed by js, both talked a big talk but did more to harm than help the whites policy-wise, the 80s was a momentary pause, a breather, to give people some room to pretend they had a nation, so they didn't revolt, before the rollercoaster clicked over the peak and began its descent. You're getting a breather right now with Trump. What comes next is going to be a living nightmare
>>217070226The 80s was pretty depressing for anybody who wasn't an American child at the time.
>>217071881the zoomers are crazy about the 2000's, they have nostalgia for Ricki Lake and Limp Bizkit
>>217071881It was a very pleasant decade to be a kid in (the video games were fantastic, there were many good films coming out as well), but there's no 'thing' to latch on to and revive. The present is very similar to the 2000's only that we have nicer electronics and more immigrants (I'm euro)
>>2170718812000s into 2010s into 2020s feels like one continuous trajectory of bullshit, not really like distinct decades desu
>>217071881tell that to the zoomers, they're all wearing baggy pants like they're out of some 2002 rap video
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_Year-End_Hot_100_singles_of_2007Absolutely wretched.
the 90s had good economic times and a lot of stability but the pop culture was a bit bland and didn't stand out very much
>>217072083>disrespecting Fergalicious
>>217072062Its called fashion unc
>>21707226290s pop culture was all over the place and by the late 90s was falling prey to the internet.
>>217072293take dat thong out yo bussy zoomer
>>217072303it's like that in every decade though, the usual stereotypes one has of the 50s, 60s, 70s etc were limited to part of those decades and not at all in the rest
The 70s were the coolest
>>217070157star wars came out in the late 70s and spawned the era of mass commercialization, this didn't fully kick off until the 1980s which is why all those popular products from said period are being raped endlessly.
>>217071881The 00s were fucking kino. Fucking boomer retard
>>217072474only someone born in 2002 thinks that was the case though
>>217072503Nope. Figures that you'd think that anyone that wasn't a geriatric idiot must be a zoomer though
>>217071881>9/11>War on Terror>Patriot Act>Bush>shitrap>late 00s economic collapsepoint well taken
>>217072474I agree, on a personal level. But think one step further. Name one thing that you could base a retro revival of the 00's on, that you think would actually have any sort of popularity.
>>217072393nonetheless there are very obvious and distinct things once does associate with those decades but the 90s not as much
>>217071574>gaming tv shows>mp3 players/iPods>kaZaa/limewire >fear of islamic terror attacks...?>globohomo with less homo>CS 1.5/1.6 frag videos with edgy numetal >Avril Lavigne>South Park>Skate Punk/Pop Punk>Pimp My Ride, MTV Cribs etc.>Jackass, Viva La Bam>low rise jeans>bangs>house music>vice 80s retro nerd hipster shit>electro clash>dance punk>indie electronic music
>>217072634>early 00s boy/girl pop bands>unhinged reality tv shows>nuwave metal x rap scenes intermingling>emo
>>217072718>>217072695that proves his point. nobody really wants to revisit any of this stuff
Wait don't Americans have public swimming pools anymore?>>217070157
>>217072749I do
>>217072759Nah, they have "private" pools where you have to be a member or some shit. In their public pools blacks swim with shirts on and spics do whatever.
>>2170701571960s has had a long run. Boomers won't give it up until they're gone.
>>217072262The 90s in my country was hardcore and lots of XTC.The fashion was track suits. It actually kinda makes sense considering it was about dancing from dusk till dawn (I use the word dancing liberally).
>>217072634That's dumb. What could you base an 80s revival off of?>neon lights>synthwave music>bright baggy clothes>etcAll that stuff sounds contrived in a vacuum. It's only because there's a wealth of 80s nostalgia wank that this stuff is associated with it. If you watch stuff that's actually from the 80s, you see considerably less of these so-called 80s tropes. The setting and events are all you need for any sort of period revival.
>>217072695the aesthetics of that decade were so gross and Dadaist
>>217070157Dovetailed perfect with Gen X coming of age or perhaps being I dunno 10 years old in 1992 and Boomers being roughly 40 which is a cool time to be White Male for anyone. Both gens like to act like they are hot shit. The sad thing is we kind of had the same thing now...? but 2020s were super retarded because of covid and AI making everything ultra-uncomfy.
>>217072718All of that is sloppy seconds from the 90s
Im gonna shill 80s media and style to my kids so they drag it on longer.
i'd sure rather live in my country in 2000s than 80s any day tough
