It has been 5+ weeks since I've done this, and it won't make a difference. Anyway, just watched 2 horror movies and here are my brief thoughts that nobody cares about.>Five Nights At Freddy's 2It suffers from the same problem as the 1st; there's just not enough horror, too much setup drama, and no real threat of anything. In fact, I'd say this one is worse than the first in that it lacks a good ending. With this one, the ending is literally the power of friendship saves the day, like it's some shonen anime shit. Just like the 1st, it's not bad, but not even above average, I'd give it a 4.5/10.>Horror In The High Desert 4: MajestyAs the official FF Chad of 4chan and the #1 fan of the HITHD series, this if some top-tier kino just like the other 3. At this point, you're either watching them all or already swore them off. It builds off the previous two, but does mention Gary. 5 is as far as he's planned out, so I hope he keeps making them and keeps them FF. I still can't wait for when the cabin's location is found and everything is revealed.
>>217164886This is one of the films in the Number of the Beast video. Because it lacked a copyright from memory.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxnN05vOuSM
>>217164886Oh, another old ass movie for the op
Irreversible. Is it a horror flick or not?
Movies about foids crashing out?
>>217164953
when are we getting a film adaption?
>>217164930man I'd describe the ending as "TO BE CONTINUED!". felt like I watched half a film. to be fair the audience is literally kids so they're aiming for karens not to be sending them emails about giving lil karynne nightmares.
>>217165015***downvote!!!!****
>>217164930oh and eh man I thought Majesty was a big drop. it added nothing new, and had too much wandering around in the dark. that's supposed to be the highlight but it started to feel like filler.
>>217164966No, which is why I haven't seen it.
>>217165036I want an adaption of this feel
>>217165097>nothing newIt added more to the timeline and story for Minerva. It also adds more mystery with the mining company. Now it's assumed the creatures have been around since the late 1800s at the latest. Solidified (IMO at least) that the creatures are some kind of shapeshifter with the ability to kind of resemble humans. Added a mysterious Odd Man, that can come into play in the next movie along with the whistleblower.

>>217165359He only has one more planned out, but he better keep the series going. HITHD and Blackwell Ghost are the only FF series that are still going. Well, maybe Bad Ben and Paranormal Activity as well.
>>217165525Agreed. That Tin and Tina movie from a few days ago was fire. I always look forward to their next recommendations.
>>217165543if that's true that's good. basically I hate the tv show approach where they don't have an ending planned and just keep churning them out for cash.I seriously hope paranormal activity forgets any lore that it had built up and just starts a new story as well.

>>217165608She voted for it. >>217165377Watch the Chalk Line. That was pretty good. Then watch Tin and Tina.
>>217164966of course not, it's for kids
>>217165670I might watch Irreversible tonight just to see what it is all about.
>>217164886Six days in and I've seen four movies now, randomizing my to-watch list is a wild adventure. So, Recs or avoid if you haven't seem them.>Crocodile 1979Stupid and the effects are terrible, but there's an energy and fun to it that makes me say if you like creature features you're probably really going to enjoy this thing. If you like Jaws 2 you'll probably have a fun time, is my point.>Animale Avoid. Avoid avoid avoid. Preachy, full of the kind of stupid choices that are more annoying than understandable to get the plot going, and when it does use CGI at the ending instead of just looking at an animal it looks jarring. A really cool idea they squandered.>Mimic 1997One of the best monster movies I've ever seen, highly recommend. Special effects are a bit dated in places but in others they're standout, the atmosphere and locations are superb, the characters are fun and likeable for the most part, if you like monster movies and haven't seen it, change that this year.>The Russian Bride 2018This one was far and away a surprise. The cinematographer is giving it his all even if it's not perfect and I really appreciate it, the twist is fun if a little predictable about midway, and that finale was Evil Dead 2 level bonkers and fun. Its slow to get going but when it hits its stride it doesn't slow down till it drops, and I absolutely say to check it out. This is gonna be a fun year.
>>217165670Lol

>>217165835>Female writer/director so to be fair that's exactly what I expected.Pet Semetary 1 is somehow proof that doesn't mean it's going to be bad and in fact can be fantastic, and Pet Semetary 2 somehow puts it right back into "About what I expected for a female writer/director" despite being the same person.

Just finished. High quality and classy thriller that I'm hesitant to call a horror. It's very Hitchcockian and feels like it's from later than it actually is. A man played by Max von Sydow escapes from prison to commit a murder and goes back, and outright tells the police that he's going to do it again, and it's all about seeing how and if his plan plays out. No idea why this isn't more acclaimed though all I'd heard before we're good things, just feels like it should be more popular.

>>217185126> chug an entire gallon of milk and walk in front of a New Delhi I don’t drink milk, I am not a child. And I drive.
>>217166327>Longlegs >Lightning in a bottle It was tedious derivative nonsense
>>217177930>antifa dressed up as trump supportersman, dont make dig up the couple webms showing that. it's not even clever, it's completely believable

>>217177772NTA, but horror is probably the one genre that has the most underrated performances in cinema when it comes to genre fiction and I think it's OK to judge them for shoddy acting depending on the type of film it's trying to be. I was just rewatching [REC] and I realized that what makes the movie so good is the convincing performances of the actors. They all feel like real people and that you're actually watching real recorded footage of actual events that happened in the real world. [REC] 2 also has solid performances like the possessed kids, it only really suffers from the inherent limitations of the found footage format where characters will hold onto the camera even in situations where they wouldn't IRL which was simply handled better in the first movie. I think a lot of modern audiences are just trained not to notice the good performances we regularly get from horror movies because of the B-movie stigma. Jason Miller, Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn and Von Sydow's performances in The Exorcist are all fantastic and The Shining wouldn't work nearly as well without Nicholson's and Duvall's stellar performances either. Toni Collette and and Alex Wolff's acting in Hereditary elevates that film as well and would Scream's climax be nearly as good if Lillard wasn't convincing as a high school edgelord goofball who thinks murdering people wearing a costume is all just fun and games and Skeet Ulrich as the guy the big and tall Lillard was afraid of going against? An obscure movie like The Poughkeepsie Tapes is only as effective as it is because of the serial killer guy too who's functionally the protagonist and some of the victims and there are many, many more examples like that.
>>217185795>Skeet UlrichUnironically carried Miracles, a short lived show about someone vaguely Catholic Church affiliated who is charged with investigating miracles for their heavenly or demonic origins. He plays a not quite catholic enough to make it through seminary catholic, but invested enough to help the church investigate, and that's a hard balance to pull off if you're a cradle catholic let alone just acting Ironically, the show was cancelled because unless you're catholic it's kind of hard to work out if he's actually in an order or laity and audiences found it too confusing
>>217176620Picrel, though it leans toward melodrama. There's a few Burke and Hare movies.Mr. Sardonicus, sort of.Pretty much every Frankenstein movie ever.
>>217185627>>217164886For me, it's the return of Blacula

>>217186447The famous death metal vocalist? Yeah, he's pretty awesome.
What could this possibly be bros? It's rated 18 (equivalent to R rating with a running time of exactly 2 hours. It's not 28 Years Bone Temple, that's about 1 hour 50 minutes.
just watched this vampire flick "fangs of the living dead"not very good. it's basically just two large breasted women doing things in a castle
>>217186625No, the cat food people
>>217185795Horror is underrated overall. Not just for performances from actors but literally everything. Best example I can think of are giallos and how underrated they are in terms of artsiness. Very underrated. Giallos released today would be considered “elevated horror.” Many top horror films released pre-1990 would be artsy and elevated. Examples >the Changeling>Dont Look Now
>>217186794>cinemas are now selling loot boxes
>>217188053>tfw Roeg started cutting shit like that because people kept claiming it was an unsimulated sex scene if he didn't make it more artsySometimes you're too good and become more outstanding because of it
>>217186794If it's the same $5 mystery movie screening my friend went to this this week, it's probably Primate
new time loop horror on the horizonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kj8Al14vffs
>>217188462Time loop fans still haven't seen Faces Of Anne
>>217188262Although it makes sense since Primate is already out in the states, that movie is only 90 minutes.
>>217188632or Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes
Watch Violett
>>217189168I have, great ending
>>217188053I like giallos for their generally stylish direction and police procedural aspect, i don't really like seeing so many innocent women get killed by a knife wielding guy as a plot device. just gets repetitive after a while because it's the same basic beat over and over and i think that might be a turn off for some people
I have spag bol, recommend me giallo
>>217184374I am. Ghost hunting and audio recordings? Sounds kino.
>>217186196kek at that edit
>>217188095Fuck you're right. What a grift.
>>217186794Maybe Markiplier's horror flick, Iron Lung.. It's 2h 7m.
>>217186794Send Help is listed as 112 minutes on wikipedia.I doubt it will be Return to Silent Hill.
>>217188262I saw that screening too. Kind of a neat movie. The advertisements of people shitting and vomiting are overplaying it a little - it's not at that level of gore - but it DOES have a couple proper gruesome moments and stays engaging. The plot is literally just Cujo with a Chimpanzee, but the chimp is also acting more sadistic than just plain rabid. That's fine. Plot is (not to spoil anything) by the numbers but servicable. Chimp looks good. I like monkey movies.
Primatebros how we feelin
>>217190238good news, I hear it leans more into practical effects which is all I need>>217190450monke
>>217190450darwin incident is this years primate kinohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8L2WW7TBVI
>>217190491lmao, you gotta give it to the japs they come up with some interesting stuff
>>217190450I don't give 2 shits about review sites. I'll watch it and decide for myself.
>>217189374Okay, Simp
What's the point of Black Phone? The more you think about it, the more stupid it gets.
“I don't really like seeing so many innocent women get killed by a knife wielding guy as a plot device. just gets repetitive after a while because it's the same basic beat over and over,” said the simp without realizing genre fans specifically watch giallos to watch innocent girls get killed.
>>217190835Yeah, dude was weak af. 0 kills in the second movie
>>217190450saw the trailer at the cinema this christmas. honestly, it did nothing for me. meh
>>217190928In 2, they just turned him into a modern Freddy Krueger. Would cum deep inside Arianna Rivas (Mustang), though.
>>217190896This. Imagine making that comment about giallos of all genres.
> “I don't really like seeing so many innocent women get killed by a knife wielding guy as a plot device”Blud is watching the wrong genre
>>217189374Beautiful girls getting butchered is a cornerstone of giallo. It is from a more masculine era.
>>217189374Go watch Fear Street again, queer.
>>217189374Cope.
>>217184981I think he wakes up in the middle of the night just to do it. wacko.
>>217191180Even sadder that he's literally doing it right now.
>>217189374You are watching the wrong genre if you don’t like seeing women get killed for entertainment.
>>217189374I agree, women getting murdered on screen is very problematic.
>>217189374the absolute state
>>217189374You are the anon that doesn’t even watch horror outside of October, huh
I like slashers for their generally stylish direction and atmospheric aspect, i don't really like seeing so many innocent people get killed by a knife wielding guy as a plot device. just gets repetitive after a while because it's the same basic beat over and over and i think that might be a turn off for some people
>>217190835oK so basicaly its like this. youare at a friends house for like the night or watever and then you guys are making out on the couch (yeah!) and then like.. her dad calls on the phone and says "no i she likes it more if you use the other hand… yeah" and your alllike "oh dude your dad is trying to give me advice on how to diddle you" and then she's like… "i don't have a dad.." or whatever… but what!? WHO WAS PHONE?
>>217191398You sound pretty dumb. People watch slashers for exactly those reasons.
I like elevated horror for their generally stylish direction and atmospheric aspect, i don't really like seeing so many innocent people get killed by a knife wielding guy as a plot device. just gets repetitive after a while because it's the same basic beat over and over and i think that might be a turn off for some people
