Spider should have died by Jake this movie. Both Jake and Spider knew it was necessary, not that Spider was hated, and that it would protect Pandora and their loved ones. It would have been an added layer to Jake's unhappiness but determination to do what needs to be done. And added complexity to Quaritch and his relationship with everyone. He'd be confused where Spider is, maybe find out then be super sad and angry at Jake, etc. But he would lose his last attachment to humanity and maybe be driven into further rage. Then as usually happens, Cameron could bring Spider back in Avatar 4. But they'd still have that sad moment for a couple hours.

Think about how Pandora's forests are hyperexaggerated beautified versions of our forests. To be frank, forests can be quite boring. I am mid atlantic and live in the forest and it's not ugly by any measure, I find winter a bit sad for how bleak and boring the forests become, but it's nowhere near Pandora forests. A desert is the same - you could also lean more on that savannah/sahel vibe.
