The reviews for the new series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy continue:*I got heavy TNG vibes watching these episodes, because while there are some action-heavy ones, there are also equally thrilling episodes that are heavy on personal conflict, struggles, and challenges. It's like watching "Data's Day," but somehow it's not filler. Viewers who watch will see the TNG-era influence in the writing, and I don't think they'll be disappointed."
>>217236507What bothers me is that I may have had a chance to take him out early on. I happened to be at an advance screening of the first half of The Island back in 2005 (undoubtedly they only showed the first half because it all goes to complete shit in the second), and since he co-(re)wrote that turd, and Johansson, McGregor, Bay et al were there, it's a fair bet he was there too. Wish I could go back in time and garotte him in the gents or something. Sure, another jew would have taken his place, but I'm pretty sure we'd still have been in a much better timeline. So in a way, it's all on me.

It's about killing fans.
>It is intended to be the 12th Star Trek series and part of executive producer Alex Kurtzman's expanded Star Trek Universe. Set in the 32nd century, the far-future time period that was introduced in the series Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024), Starfleet Academy follows the first new class of Starfleet cadets in over a century as they come of age and train to be officers. Why?Why is it set in the 32nd century?I don’t mind the concept of a CW/Netflix-tier series set in Star Trek and aimed at a younger audience, but why set it a thousand years after Kirk? Kurtzman and co. are obviously too dumb to come up with new uniforms, lore, and world-building.
I don't understand how real fans can care about nutrek either way. it's literally not even Star Trek
>>217237496Because they're taking our stories and perverting them.
>>217237578they don't even know the stories they're literally just making any old slop and putting the Star Trek logo on it. if actual Star Trek was being deleted from the Earth at the same time I would be mad. but I regard nutrek as nothing more than fanfiction.

>>217237743Star Trek is dead. It was a period of time that is over. Just like all the culture of that era. All we have now are shallow echoes of that creative period produced by people who have nothing to add to it. All they can do is slap the name on their diarrhea.
>>217237495It's because they have zero respect for the lore, and they're incredibly lazy and untalented. Blow shit up and then move to another timeline/the far future and you can change everything/ignore continuity while claiming it's still the same franchise. And also have that be the (shit) story. The GREAT /trek/ DS9 Watchalong is happening again at the top of the hour with >The Magnificent Ferengi some trivia I can tell you from reading the book is that Behr was actually present when they filmed this because he was the one obsessed with getting Iggy Pop on the show and didn't want to miss it. the director Chip Chalmers praised all the Ferengi actors for their utter skill and natural comedic timing. he said their synchronized turn around when Keevan tells them they're all gonna die anyway was not scripted or directed. they just knew how to do it instinctively.

Hi, we're the Dominion.
>>217242263Garret Wong once claimed that the character Harry Kim was meant to be Chinese but that the writers had no idea Kim wasn't a Chinese surname, so he had to correct them and say that Kim was Korean. So in essence, yes, Harry Kim is indeed Chinese. Or was originally intended to be.
>>217244801For that argument to be valid I would have to trust the memory and intelligence of both Garrett Wong and yourself. You see the problem?

I don't believe he ever said he corrected them, he used "they didn't even know Kim was a Korean name!" as the punchline to his story for a laugh at a convention. So who knows how long the writers thought Kim was Korean. 1 season, 2 season? 4, 5?

>>217244906>>217245105in an early episode of Delta Flyers, Garret said he didn't bring up Kim being a Korean name until Voyager ended. It wasn't until he was suggesting they make Hoshi in the then upcoming Enterprise be Chinese as an act of goodwill towards China and how she would be the first Chinese character on Star Trek and then (I think it was Braga, not sure) said "we already had Kim" and that's when he brought it up. Allegedly.Garret also said that he just imagined Harry was a Chinaboo when doing the show.

>>217245773Also I got banned for ban evasion btw, I wasn't banned beforehand either. They desperately needed to find a reason to "ban" and remove the posts, they couldn't find any real one so they did the mental gymnastic effort of saying I was ban evading because I mentioned you risk getting banned for 3 days over attacking shills.
>>217245617I've listed to a fair bit of Delta Flyers a while ago. And a lot of what Garrett Wang says is tinged with resent and regret. I don't believe everything he says. Exactly how he says it. Just my vibes from listening. I think he frames things to better reflect himself. Although, I might be over stating that. He's not SUPER bitter or anything. But I think he looks back at Voyager. And that was his peak. And since then his job has just been pretty much selling autographs at conventions. And he looks at Roxanne Dawson and Robbie McNeil. And they've had successful directing careers in Hollywood. And he sees that. And thinks, I could've had that. If I'd just taken the opportunity then. So, what he says now is tinged by that regret of wishing he'd done things differently then.

i am once again calling for a voyager enterprise crossover mover trilogy to restore the timelime. please, we dont have many years left with all the actors alive and well enough to pull it off.

trolling used to be a art, as oldfags would sayit's not the same anymore when it's some mentally ill discord server going "post this, now post that"
>>217250966thats the networks problem. theyre paying paramount regardless. also paramount sells ads on pluto.and surely a signifigant portion of peeplus subs are there mainly for old trek.
>>217250966Clinton Trek can't even get Life Alert ads now? How about funeral homes?
>>217250971Do you have any actual evidence of this coordination? Or is this just your own paranoid bleating? Maybe you need to stop stirring the pot & simply accept people have different viewpoints.
Do people who like new Star Trek also like Bioware games made after Mass Effect 2?
>>217251027Mass Effect 3 is over hated. Only the ending is truly shit
>>217236066OP pic brings up a good point. Where there jannies in Star Trek, Like the the next generation enterprise was carpeted that would have got messed up . Especially if some one bleeds or pukes on it, They never showed the clean up crew. Maybe they had a really advanced Roomba that's my head cannon at least.
>>217251058they can replace floor panels with the transporter
I think the new phase of Star Trek shows has been great! The production value is incredible, the cast is diverse and talented, and the storytelling is more nuanced and character-driven than ever before. The new series has managed to honor the legacy of the original while also pushing the franchise in new and exciting directions. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Star Trek.
>>217251057So basically the plot of Mass Effect 3 is a chain of favors. You need Y, so you go to X. X tells you they’ll give you Y only if you first go help Z. Z then sends you to someone else, and the whole story becomes an endless loop of “do this first, then I’ll help you. Also, less party members than 2 and the Leviathan DLC was idiotic reveal.
>>217251027i hate nutrek and I'm also a Solavellan, so
>>217249674I'm still not watching this slop . Kurtzman trek is not cannon .
>>217251057Structurally the plot of Mass Effect 3 looks like:You need APerson 1 has A, but needs BPerson 2 has B, but needs CPerson 3 has C, but needs Detc
>Alexander Hilary Kurtzman (born September 7, 1973) is an American filmmaker. He is best known for co-writing the scripts to Transformers (2007), Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) with his writing and producing partner Roberto Orci, and directing and co-writing The Mummy (2017). He made his directorial debut with People Like Us (2012), co-written alongside Orci and Jody Lambert.Jesus wept

>>217251211Well, I'm not even on Discord in any capacity, nor am I part of any group "plotting" to post in this general. For a moment, I was interested in knowing what's behind your projection, but then I realized that you're boring & I really don't care. Hey, how about, instead of attributing differences of opinion to "muh hecking vast conspiracy", how about discussing Star Trek?
>>217251291Ok here's a picture of an attractive woman from Star Trek.
It's fucking cold here, bros. What episode of Trek should I watch to vicariously experience warmth?
>>217251117>>217251162That's basically the entirety of Mass Effect 2 as well
>>217251291So defensive. There's something you're hiding.
>>217250669Watching the CBS Morning show hosts all pretend to be hardcore Trekkies whenever there’s a new show or movie to promote is always funny. Like watching the Today Show hosts all pretend the Wicked movies are cinema.
>>217251357STTNG's "Final Mission" takes place in a desert.
>>217251357The ENT episode where they have to live in the engine tube for days.
>>217251386>That sounds like something a witch would say!Seriously, go outside and touch grass. You've lost touch with reality.
>>217251358Mass Effect 2 is a bit different. There is very little overarching season/game-long plot. The main story is simply to recruit a team and then go to the Collector base. The most of game is in the subplots: you recruit squadmates, and each of them has a loyalty mission. Most characters get one major personal story, and those stories are largely self-contained. Structurally, the game looks like this:Recruit Character 1 do their loyalty missionRecruit Character 2 do their loyalty missionRecruit Character 3 do their loyalty mission…Then go to the Collector baseInstead of a long chain of interdependent objectives (A B C D).

>>217251410>>217251412Good choices, but I feel like I know them too well (I also thought of Desert Crossing). Maybe something from DS9, since I haven't seen that for a while?

>>217251558Fine, you got me. I am, in fact, the ghost of Gene Roddenberry. As proof, I offer this image of me, which I definitely didn't download from an earlier thread.I have come back from beyond the grave to speak to you. As you know, my ashes, and those of my wife, were shot into space, where we were found by angelic aliens who brought us back to life.I have come here on a mission of great importance. I understand there is someone here, someone who has managed to keep the faith, someone that believes real Trek is only what I was involved with, and that all others are heresies. I couldn't agree more. So, for that true defender, my knight in shining armor, I have an offer for you. I will let you into Star Trek Heaven, where you can bask in my glory forever and ever. But to gain entry, you have to kill yourself. What's more, you have to do it in the next ten minutes, for that is as long as I can hold open the portal. I can only accept one of you, so anyone that kills themselves too late won't be saved. So hurry!

>lets the village continue practicing their dangerous religious psyop without getting to the bottom of itlol. I think I can see why DS9 has some haters. Still, I find that every episode has been consistently entertaining, like there's not TNG tier lows where I want to blow my brains out. Guess they finally learned how to make even the filler episodes fun after churning out decades worth of garbage.
>>217252208I think at that point Miles and Bashir had their own jobs and problems to worry about. They weren’t interested in getting tied up in primitive Bajoran rituals. That’s for Galaxy class ships.
