The characters established in the prelude don't do much beyond sit in castles then juat die. Most of the plot is driven by literal whos who enter the plot then leave. Dragon warfare is whack and it GRRM is winging it.The whole conflict feels like it was a patchwork frankenstein of a plot based on vague passages established from the main books.
