Not sure, but Blackfyres are mentioned in Dunk while they were practically non-existent in Thrones.
There was supposed to be an entire subplot of (F)A(k)egon reaching Westeros to conquer them before Dany in the books, who is also heavily implied to be a secret Blackfyre, but he didn't exist in the Thrones show.
I guess you can say there's a nonzero % chance Dunk is its own thing, separate from the other 2 shows.
And personally I hope it is, it has a very comfy change of tone from the other 2 so far. Feels like we're in The Shire of Martin's world compared to the grimdark premises of the other 2 shows, with an MC that's truly noble and good instead the usual "muh edgy morally grey antihero" types.

There is a beautiful irony behind this since they joined the war on Aegon II's side because Rhaenyra is a woman, but now the last of Aegon II's heir is a little girl and they end up fighting for her.
If Jaehaera is dead, that means Dance is a decisive black victory. The end of the war is supposed to be a compromise where both sides use the remaining kids as bargaining chips: Aegon the Younger for Blacks and Jaehaera for Greens. The war ends with the two getting married and Aegon III rising as Aegon II's heir (instead of Rhaenyra's). Blacks get a political victory by instating Rhaenyra's heir as king but greens get a cultural victory by having blacks dismiss Rhaenyra as the legal ruler.

Even in the mid 2010s when everyone was already tired of his of his shit at least he was churning out Targ tales that eventually became F&B and was actively writing episodes for the show.

the first 3 ASOIAF make a lot of mistakes in the later lore and world building and shit just got bloated as things expanded. I think GRRM wants to release Winds before any of the other stuff so the symbolism in the later Dunk and egg books don't spoil the big reveal (azho ahai/bloodstone emperor reborn created the white walkers after taking over the weirwoodnet in the heart of Winter which is a frozen wierwood tree, the last hero will defeat him to bring the Dawn) but he can't finish the book while also keeping it trim enough to be one book so it doesnt need to be split, while also moving everyone where they need to be.
I just HOPE he has copious notes and books hes sitting on and denying while trying to finish Winds. He must have she wolves on winterfell done because he announced its release in like 8 months before it just fell off the face of the earth

Writer's block. His "gardening" writing style made things very hard for him to continue. Instead of having a clear outline for the story to move along in, he just lets his characters do whatever they want based on their personality and his mood for that day. Then he improvises and writes onward from there.

It's great for making believable/relatable people, ASOIAF is a series thats heavily carried by its characters. But in terms of ending a story like that it's a nightmare, because how can he realistically tie everyone together into the same climax, while making it cathartically satisfying for the fans as well?
