>>217755620Didn't they want her to commit to a 6 year contract? That's a long time Anon, that first bitch with the worm in her brain from DS9 had to get killed off to escape
I consider DS9 ''prestige' TV.
>>217755695
>>217755620>>217755703zoomers dont know that tv shows were considered lower tier acting jobs, even very popular shows like TNG were still "just tv shows" in the acting landscape. Committing to a 6 year tv show if you had aspirations of doing more could really hamper your career. For example, ER was the most popular show in the world and George Clooney left to pursue his movie career.
>>217755782You can tell Patrick Stewart was frustrated he was tied down to a TV show for seven years and then a film series based on that TV show. Instead of fans walking up to him in the street like "I loved that Shakespeare play you did! You were great in that movie that won all those awards!" it was more like nerds squealing "Hey, you're Captain Picard! Make it so!"

I always saw their relationship as Ziyal having a school girl crush on Garak and Garak just liked her because he could tell she was a good person and he enjoyed being able to talk to another Cardassian who doesn't hate him, also he liked making Dukat angry.
>>217756228Yea its a bit problematic and icky
>>217755637He's definitely the most consistently great of the main cast.
>>217756109Good thing that episode where there was a psychic lust virus on the station didn't victimise her
>>217756244Garak tortured people to death and aided in the subjugation of an entire planet, entertaining a young woman's fantasies is the least of his indiscretions.
>>217756276What is this a diddy party?
Federation penal colonies seemed pretty fucking sweet in Voyager, no wonder Bashir's dad treated his two year sentence like a mild inconvenience, it's basically a summer camp.
>>217756244Do you think that actual alien relationship and mating practices conceived and flimed in the mid 1990s, have to align exactly with post 2015 feminist rhetoric?
>>217756360Everything must be revised under modern semblances ok.
TNGnewfag and I just watched 'Yesterday's Enterprise' and I think this is one of the best Star Trek episodes I've seen yet. Everything about it was perfect. It had the theme of sacrifice for a better future, the darker lighting and tone to reflect the situation the characters are now in, Picard as a war captain and more importantly Tasha as a character felt realised and purposeful compared to before.I honestly feel like they could've made more episodes in this time fuckery because it just was so interesting to me. I also enjoy Guinan as a ship counsellor/psychic much more than Troi.I haven't watched TOS series yet so some of the nostalgia may have gone over my head but it was just so enjoyable. >Let's make sure history never forgets the name EnterpriseKINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO10/10 episode

>>217756345That's a fruity looking outfit
>>217756439>It only gets better, anon.I can't wait. I get so much joy watching this show now and excited for what comes up next.
>>217756446For some reason Star trek was very adamant that in the future men would wear loose fitting shirts that exposed their chests.
>>217756533And women wear extremely form fitting catsuits
>>217756412I like that they all realized they should have saved that one for a future movie. So much better than Generations.
>>217756412Yesterday's Enterprise is a great example of why you should light the set as you film the episode, and not send everything to be fixed in post.
>>217756814Lower Decks, which is Harley Quinn, which is Rick and Morty-tier. Which is to say - BAD

>>217757272It's the kind of episode that underscores why new shows are terrible at sparking imagination and wonder. Any kid Wesley's age would watch the episode and want to know more about the world it takes place in. What kid is watching ACK and getting their imagination stimulated?

>>217760239>>217760282Ep 1/2 weakEp 3 amusing but not really trek Ep 4 felt like Trek One thing that I noticed was they pronounced Klingon words properly. There is no "S" in Klingon, it is a retroflex sibilant (like "sh" but with the tip of your tongue touching the palate). I liked that little detail in names like Qo'noS and KahleS.
>>217760460>Ep 4 felt like Trek
>>217760460He said something like Kaylish, and a sentence later he pronounced it more like Kayless.Holotard pronounced Kithomer wrong as well. It's Kito-mer, not Kitoh-mur
>>217760517That's because holotard is in fact a tard
>>217760529Why did they make Geordie smart and Holotard retarded? Geordie was a little awkward with the ladies but he was never retarded. He took rejections like an adult and was an absolute pro at his job. I can't comprehend why writers feel that retarded looking ugly fatties are something their favorite minorities will look up to.
>>217760610Blame The Office for normalizing fat stupid people on TV
>>217755561One thing I note with Kurtz Trek is the magical plant or animal being plot elements or used to resolve a situation. Often these plants or animals are whimsically designed in some way. This is definitely a Star Wars thing. Star Trek has always been more focused on technology being the solution.
>Academy is doing a DS9 episode about Sisko>Isn't a look back on the madman who escalated conflicts with the Dominion and engaged in frequent war crimes including a gas attack
>>217760833This is their way of mining DS9 for nostalgia instead of a remake or legacy sequel. DS9 patricians will never watch ACK and ACK viewers can't sit through an episode of DS9 without checking their phone every 5 minutes.
>>217760610>retarded looking ugly fattiesbit harsh innit?
>>217760951Who the fuck would want a DS9 REMAKE
>>217761002It hasn't been raped yet.
>>217760951>ACK viewersI don't know who those people are anyway. I genuinely don't think there are any more than a couple of thousand people watching this, not even five figure numbers. Most likely it's just the trekmemes reddit.
>>217761002Who wanted a TOS remake before the Kelvin movies? SNW was likely going to dovetail into another TOS remake before Skydance put the kibosh on it. It's a shame the series is stuck with the Vaseline effect but it's still preferable to a remake from modern paramount.
>>217756228Did they argue? I remember their relationship was very cordial, and we know from the quite fertile engineer that bickering is verbal foreplay for Cardassians.
>>217761048The show barely cracks the top ten on release day. It gets beat by 30 year old sitcoms that were very cheap when they were made. The only people watching ACK are chud YouTubers farming reaction content.
>>217761145I can't take nerdrotic and mauler anymore. That whole crew is taxing.
>>217761145Kids these days are already living in a Star Trek world without the space travel but surrounded by aliens
>>217761145No idea why that Taylor Sheridan shite is so popular
>>217761145Based Sabrina
>>217761345Star Trek was optimistic about the future. Nobody is optimistic about the future today. We've all accepted that things will get steadily worse until the next big war.>>217761410Sherislop is boomer wish fulfilment the way Star Trek is nerd wish fulfilment. >>217761845Maybe you get points for doing it hard mode, like on Oregon Trail when you're a poor farmer instead of a banker from Boston.
>>217761845Ha, it makes sense from an alien perspective. The holocreatures have never been to Earth and everything they know comes from publicly available data sources. So the aliens googled Earth and simply asked what's the most common human appearance on Sol 3, we don't want our recruit to stick out.The computer would answer that the most common human appearance is a dark skinned femlae humanoid who is a little chubby which is seen as a sign of high fertility.
>>217761987A hologram would not have any use for points.

So I started watching DS9 again and I just noticed the wormhole isn't shown in the opening credits of the first episode. I never noticed that before. Pretty interesting that they wanted to keep it a surprise. I miss the time when shows would respect their audience.
>>217762122They show it later in the episode.
>>217762019How do you know that? >>217762016Maybe massless organisms like photonics fetishize mass, and creatures made of light fetishize darkness. The grass is always greener on the other side.

How would a ship crewed entirely by Barclays and Geordies even work?
>>217762456With Barclay in Ultramind configuration, and Geordie and presumably Data would probably take over the quadrant in short order.
>>217762456Barclay would be relaxed as fuck and Geordie wouldn't feel bad about his Brahms programs. I assume the ship would be run very smoothly until they have to deal with female alien dignitaries.
>>217762456cringe energy would be harvested
Barclay begins mass replicating HyperAggressive Warrior Datas with the strength of forty men, and they go around bending furniture and doorways out of shape, inconveniencing millions. Meanwhile, Geordie and Barclay have been going absolutely feral in carnal holodeck debauchery

>>217755522I toyed around with an idea for some series that's a send off for everything TNG kickstarted in 87 before they move onto the 26th century and landed on:>arc 1: sisko and garak's false flag gets exposed, big geopolitical crisis, the powers resolve it with a trial where each faction gets their pound of flesh: garak, DS9 guy who initially sanctioned sisko's manipulation, and vreenak's brother who exposed the whole false flag (and killed a lot of people along the way) are all the fall guys>arc 2: feds encounter their genuine ideological dark mirror. Some multispecies confederation that can and will use violence and coercion to admit new members if peace doesn't work; they were founded by four species coming together consensually like the feds and have created countless paradies like the feds. They aren't this one species dominating countless others (dominion, terrans), they have an actual ideology, they are ruthless, but not mustache twirlers. They don't even want to conquer the feds, they see them as simply competitors/ideological rivals for new worlds to admit. Resolution to the arc: involves the Mirror Universe as a means to convince them reassess everything they believe>arc 3: iconian war, STO inspiration, not direct adaption as suchCertainly a wankfest involving TNG, VOY, DS9 and Picard S3 characters but it's a hypothetical in my mind to finally do some send off to the TNG era that, frankly, is still ongoing to some degree.

>>217755842I remember sort of thinking that too. That he's famous for Trek and X-Men, but he would rather his legacy be as a serious, dramatic actor. That's the vibe he gives. But, looking through his acting credits, the legacy he has is his own fault. He has only done a very small handful of films that are actually good. Hamlet and Green Room, voice acting and half a dozen mediocre TV-movies. Not much of a film career outside Trek and X-Men. And surely he had offers, turned down roles in movies that turned out to be great. And yeah, he does plays. That's his passion maybe. But, Ian McKellen does plays too. And similar to Pstew, Ian McKellen is best know for X-Men and LotR. But, McKellen has also done a lot of well-received small movies. Working in several movies a year for a lot of his career. Which Stewart never did.

>>217768691>missing out on The Rock's first acting gigQueer
More kvetching on outer /tv/ it seemsStar Trek fans seem like a peaceful race. They mostly just sit here in this one general specifically and post memes from TNG while there's a storm howling outside and elonx yells about this overweight racist manbaby that I have never actually met.I'm so sorry that you've had to go through this. If you guys don't care at all then I guess it doesn't matter. Keep posting.
>>217768761Kys cuck. Go back to redd*t
>>217760239I don’t hate it. Too much casual swearing and rapid cuts to build tension, but the Federation rebuilding setting is carrying it for me. Picardo still kills it as the EMH, they have an interesting Klingon character and story going, and I don’t actively hate any of the characters. The writers understand the universe enough that I’m interested where they go with it.Also really hoping they elaborate on what happened with the Jem’Hadar after DS9. They opened the door to something interesting and I’m curious if they can stick the landing.
>>217769815positivity?? on my /trek/?????I mostly agree
Yesterdays Enterprise is overrated as fuck
>>217770004/trek/ is positive all the time. Positive about Dukat and Neelix and Trekpu. And a lot of other Star Trek things.
Started watching this for the first time today, I'm genuinely shocked that the 60s show is as compelling as it is. The acting is a bit hammy, especially from the extras at times, but it's pretty good. The scene between Spock and Kirk in The Naked Time was pretty great. Why does everyone look like they're sweating so often though?
>>217770629>I'm genuinely shocked that the 60s show is as compelling as it isThat shouldn't be too surprising. The Twilight Zone is better than pretty much every TV show today. And was before TOS. I don't mean to make too much of a deal out of it, but if that is truly your attitude. Being shocked that a show from the '60s is actually good. You should watch more old things. because honestly, they often don't just hold up. But are better. There are flicks from the '40s that are the best you'll ever watch.
>>217770876In fairness to that guy, having growing up in the 90s I made the same assumption that all old TV would be bad based on how terrible the reruns we got were, which was mostly stuff like murder she wrote and matlock and LA Law and other boring 80s shit that was unwatchable for a kid. I was in my early thirties before I gave anything made before I was born a fair shake and I too was surprised that old TV could be good.
>>217770629Wearing a layer of make up and working for hours under those old fashioned TV production lights can get hot
Behold!
>>217771168>I think I swallowed a dilithium crystal.
>>217756429>snarling aggressively>literal blue gumswhat did nutrek mean by this?
>>217770995I was watching Murder She Wrote maybe a year or two ago. Didn't finish the whole series, but made it a good way through. Obviously, there's a lot of Trek actor crossover. That was fun. There's this bit in the middle of season three that is back-to-back-to-back Trek guest stars. One 'sode has Rene Auberjonois, the next George Takei and the one after that LeVar Burton. I get how someone could think that Murder She Wrote is boring, but for probably those exact same reasons I find it very comfy. There was even a couple times it surprised me how experimental and interesting the show got. There's this one episode they did as a noir. All black & white, about a hardboiled fiction writer's murder. And they go full on noir homage with it. And that sort of fully committing to a one-off was a meta TV I thought started years later with Buffy or Ally McBeal or X-files. There's another Murder She Wrote that actually uses some random noir movie from the '50s, reedits it into flashbacks, and has the original cast back in the show so the whole episode is a sequel to this old movie. And the characters are dealing with this murder that happened 30+ years ago. It was a really neat idea to even try.
>>217769815>Too much casual swearingBased recognizer. What is it with modern (millennial?) writers and excessive/unnecessary/forced swearing in TV series? Stranger Things season 5 is a good example of this cringe inducing trend.
>>217771328I would be OK with a few 'fucks!' in The Siege of AR-558.
>The sheer. Fucking hubris.
>>217771245>literal blue gumsKek! Based observation and reference, anon. I haven't heard that one since growing up down south. We sure did have an awful lot of names for them.
>>217771328Have you been around teenagers? They love swearing. Doesn't change that it's cringe though
>>217771313What's Paul McCartney doing on Murder She Wrote?
>>217755522Nobody fucks with Korgano!Should have been a recurring character. Should have been lasting consequences where the residual personality Korgano fuses with residual Locutus in the body of Picard and takes over the entire Collective to finally take down that bitch Masaka.
heh..Datum..
>>217771313>Obviously, there's a lot of Trek actor crossover.JMS wrote several later episodes of it so there's a B5 connection too.I think like that other anon I was just too young to appreciate it when it was airing. Now I consider it comfy TV, and Angela Lansbury was based in general.
>>217771903It's crazy how here daughter was in the Manson Family.
It's about respecting the past.
>>217764483kek
>>217771168
>>217771903>JMS wrote several later episodes of it so there's a B5 connection too.He also wrote Captain Power and there's an interesting Murder She Wrote/Captain Power crossover. Lyman Taggart appears in both. In the latter he becomes Lord Dread.
>>217770629I'm rewatching it right nowI remember not really liking it that much when I first watched it several years ago but yeah, it's funThe only issue I kinda have with it is that I can barely remember the individual episodes for whatever reason
>>217772315Cadet BPD, my beloved...
>>217772315big shout out to fan fav admiral katrina cornwell
>>217771124>those old fashioned TV production lightsWere they halogen based at that time? I use halogen lamps to brew my coffee. I know the "lime light" wasn't being used by then.
>>217772959I've forgotten almost all of STD. What a shitshow.
>>217770083Meh. I get why it’s a fan favorite; very focused and straightforward, almost completely fan service plot. Was probably easy for them to write and film quickly, nothing too complex or philosophical. But yeah I think too many people shortlist it into the “best trek episodes” when, at best, it’s good/great but not fantastic. If you want a similar hot take from me: Inner Light is overrated. It’s really good, yes. But best Star Trek episode of all time? Yeesh
>>217766337Stewie made bank with trek. If you didn't do that you have to act in a lot of different movies for a living.
>>217772445I'm still annoyed that JMS make the Drakh genuinely strange and disturbing in their first appearance (worth successors to the Shadows) before turning them into generic stoic reptile men
>>217773120Or, you could go the other way. After you've made bank, you don't need to work for just money anymore. That frees you up to follow your own personal passion. Make films for the sake of art.
>>217773393lmao he's having to sell assets to pay for that massive bomb
>>217772315>LT NogSo he never made it past LT? In DS9 "The Visitor" it was clear that he had the potential to become Captain and wasn't there a USS Nog in Kurtzman Trek? A LT got a ship named after him? Surely he must have done something beside just being the first Ferengi in Starfleet?
>>217773288>I'm still annoyed that JMS make the Drakh genuinely strange and disturbing in their first appearance (worth successors to the Shadows) before turning them into generic stoic reptile menThat's what you get when you hire day players that work for scale
>>217773604For all we know he went on to have a groundbreaking medical career.
*hisses at you*
>>217772315>Admiral Dukatwoah
>>217755522LaForge filed a descrimination report with Starfleet after seeing Picard wearing this.
>>217773604Shit's retarded, bro. I don't know why they insisted on locking this list according to canon as of 2026 when it would have been better to just list the names without ranks. Like I'm supposed to believe that my nigga Bashir never got promoted to Lt. Commander during the Dominion War when even fucking Hoshi Sato got promoted to Lt. Commander? But hey, DS9 never had that scene and it's not as if it could have happened off-screen so...>Admiral Tawny NewsomeOh, fuck off.
>>217774049>Admiral Tawny NewsomeShe's incredibly upwardly mobile irl, and proof that not all gap toothed unattractive women can make it in the writing industry. Of course she's make admiral... admiral of my heart.
>>217774086*can't make it
The nutrek uniforms are just lazy and uninspiring. Even the TOS-era ones look larpy and tryhard like kelvin timeline bullshit
>>217774086Why is this DMV employee cosplaying as a Star Trek ensign?
>>217774225I'd have her change the organ donation checkbox on my driver's license for she, because I have an organ I must urgently donate to her
>>217773604>just being the first Ferengi in StarfleetIn DS9 s06e22 'Valiant', the one where Jake and Nog join the crew of Red Squad's rouge starship. The whole reason that happens is because Nog was going to Ferenginar to hand deliver an official diplomatic message from the Federation Council to the Grand Nagus. And then Jake tagged along to report on it. Then their shuttlepod got attacked on the way, saved by Valiant, etc. It is funny how they sent an ensign solo on that mission just because he's their token Ferengi. And not even a Federation diplomat along with him. If I were the Grand Nagus, I'd be insulted by that. Pissed.
>>217774272
>>217774288If Starfleet sent an official diplomatic party the Grand Nagus probably wouldn't take audience with them without a tribute, Nog knew the Grand Nagus personally so he could basically walk right up to him no problem. You know how those big eared people are to anyone who isn't part of the tribe.
>>217755522i know the quality of this is subpar but it occurred to me that if she were nude, you'd see everything, both holes, merely by watching her walk away. really demonstrates how physically fit she is.

>>217774745USA, then there's other countries harvest as the default like china and israel, then places like albania where organ trafficking is nightmare fuel that even an ex-president was indicted for involvement >>217774760yes but when the doctors decide they think that too, there's a problem

>>217774817I know about albania more then I would ever have liked to, its the other thing, hospitals in supposedly civilized places where doctors can take your organs, thats a new one, didn't know that. The ride never ends is right.
>>217774895no no noyour body, HIS choice
For what it’s worth, on paper the idea of doing a borg episode in a prequel of all things sounds so hacky and a recipe for disaster. But ENT Regeneration is pretty fucking good
>>217774913a good fren's mother is a longtime career nurse, she witnessed a scenario where a family saw their loved one taken off life support against their wishes because the doctors decided so, it got very ugly and they fought it and ultimately the organ donor status meant they had no legal powershe called up her whole family and told them to go to the DMV and change their organ donor status and she'd pay for it, which they all didnext time i renewed i changed mine as well
>>217774921its ok
>>217773754>>217774049>>217774288>>217772315I just realized that Siskos last act as commander of DS9 was to make him LT Junior Grade, so it should be the same as Wesley Crusher on that wall (LTJG). So either Nog got a promotion to a full LT off screen, or the writers are retarded and didn't pay attention. Am I missing something?
One time I asked a doctor if I could get my tubes tied, they told me I would change my mind one day, and then I was left on hormonal birth control long enough to develop a blood clot in my neck that had a 40% chance of dislodging to my brian or lungs and killing me.Who is YOUR favorite doctor in Star Trek?
