I noted the proximity of Friday the 13 and Valentine's Day as right now, and it led to a very interesting finding. The two films in the OP were released within a year of each other, by the same studio (Paramount), and their posters are extremely similar, point by point:

-R-rating
-Paramount logo
-Large black field containing essential info:
-tagline at top
-stylized movie title/logo at bottom, referring to a specific date or holiday
-FIVE young people/victims, very small in-group together in relation to the depiction of the killer
-bloody knife, held vertically

Most of this is easily explained by prevailing norms around the same period, but it's still interesting to compare design details like these IMO.

Watched Schizoid, the other movie paired with X-Ray/Hospital Massacre (Valentine's Day Slasher) on the 4K I bought and discussed last thread >>217920869 >>217929964 >>217939937

The movie has Klaus Kinski, Marianna Hill from Messiah of Evil, and even Christopher Loyd, but I was most invested in this actress and her character. All you waifu spammers would probably appreciate her.

I think this one is actually pretty good, and definitely the more interesting of the two. Once again, the 4K format really improves the experience. A movie that would be totally ignored in the DVD era becomes a real joy on 4K, with some beautiful shots. I'd definitely recommend this one to people that like 80s slashers, even if it isn't as gory as later movies

Eh, I guess this technically is horror, so I'll post about it.
Just finished. German thing about a sailor who returns to his family home just as the patriarch played by Orson Welles is about to die. The will instead and you might think it's THAT kind of movie but really there's some other mystery everybody else seems to know about but won't fill the new guy in on. When it's revealed it's WAY stupider than you could've imagined the family members are all Greek gods Orson trapped in human skins and won't let leave his estate. The same beautiful actress plays five characters. It's way too long, Orson only in it for about fifteen minutes, and nothing much happens besides the MC creeping around the huge house and begging people tell him what's going on. A Barrel Entertainment DVD.

Friday was probably the first film I ever torrented. I remember me and my friends gathering for a night of terrors. In the end the rip was absolutely atrocious. You really couldn't make up what was going on, and it was quite a dissapointment. Now maybe 17 years later I watched it with a proper file and a new friend group, and it was actually pretty decent flick. We also watched Argento's Opera. Nice night. /blog

I mean the monke was locked up securely, an on call vet had already had a look at it in his mind, the girls had been told not to let him out, he was at an important event, and he thought the vet must be wrong. That's more than enough imo.
Your first part is dead on though, I have learned to just blot it out of my mind because that's in most modern films now.

The the expert unprompted says picrel, i.e. that they already know Hawaii doesn't have rabies and agree with him.
>Should have been "but I thought Hawaii didn’t have rabies."
Why would he say that? He's an animal expert and knows the same facts she does.
>Hawaii is the only state in the United States that is free of rabies and all dogs and cats entering the state must follow import rabies quarantine requirements. Cases of the disease in Hawaii have all been infected through exposures outside of the state.
https://health.hawaii.gov/docd/disease_listing/rabies/
Plus, he's frustrated. He's set up as a dad that is already not spending enough time with hids kids, on the verge of a big movie deal and torn inside because he doesn't want to leave. He already told the girls Ben was sick, locked him up, and warned them it could be rabies.

You can try again next month.

I marathoned all Friday the 13th movies last year and I barely remember anything.
>2nd movie
One of the girls had nice tits, but she never showed them bare.
>3rd movie
I remember the funny "stick in camerman's face" scenes because it was IN THREE DEE. I also remember the... the place where they were had a funny name. And there were blacks.
>4th movie
I think this is the "bestestest movie" according to fans of the series, I remember almost nothing except the final scene where the Corey Feldman wannabe child actor put on a "JUST" makeup which somehow stunlocked Jason. Easily the most overrated movie.
>5th movie
Either the movie that didn't have Jason in it (or it's the next one below) but some crazy guy instead, don't remember the rest.
>6th movie
Either the above, or the movie where the once-played-by-Corey-wannabe child grew up, so he dug up Jason's corpse and resurrected it. It was the first movie in the series where they discovered maggot-tech.
>7th movie
The Carrie vs Jason unmarked movie?
>8th movie
Jason goes to New York?
>9th movie
Uh, maybe I forgot one between 6 and 7/8.
>Jason X
The one where he goes into space, it has a funny scene where he beats women together in a hologram.
>>
>>217961216
>One of the girls had nice tits, but she never showed them bare.
She did but they cut the footage because she lied and stated she was 18 when she was actually 17.
>>
>>217961275
>The footage was recovered for the Scream Factory Blu-Ray release, although they opted not to restore the footage due to the underage nudity.

Yeah he's pretty amazing in it.
I watched the 2012 version first, which I also really liked, but it's interesting that in the original he isn't as victorious. I mean neither of them are, but things are falling apart for him even more as his crimes mount up.

Same. I got a bit obsessed with them for a while. I think especially on that first album, they pay a lot of attention to structure, like the song about Friday the 13th starting with the campfire song and ending with an extended gentle portion that ends in a breakdown, mimicking the Jason jumpscare.

its a shame f13 part 5 had such boring deaths because it could actually have been a kind of interesting direction to take things to turn jason into a personification of generational/local trauma caused by his murder spree

It's funny watching Maniac, where Spinell turning in a pretty damn good performance, and then I watched the Starcrash episode of nu-MST3K, and he's on there being awkwardly dubbed and giving orders to goofy ass stop-motion robots wielding scimitars. If I recall correctly, Tom Savini said that it's the association between Spinell and Munroe in that movie that ultimately resulted in her being in maniac. Well, that and her husband helping fund the film.

I listened to the first one years back. It gave me the impression it was more like a praise for movies rather than anything like behind the scenes stories. Kind of like the Bravo's 100 scariest movies sort of deal, except I thought Bravo's had more variety. I don't know, wasn't a big fan. Although they didn't do anything to protect the DVD when they shipped it to me and I think they shipped it late too, so I already had a bit of a bias going into it watching the documentary.
