Maekar killing Baelor intentionally doesn’t make any sense because he is no where near becoming king. Even after the Spring Sickness wipes out Baelor’s family (Valarr had just had stillborn twins, too) he has his brother Aerys and other brother Rhaegel, who also has a family. So you would have to say Maekar did it because he just wanted to kill him, but Maekar evidently loved his brother, and in the scene where he dealt the blow he was clearly delirious over his son who could’ve been killed by Dunk at any time. If in the previous episodes they made Maekar more standoffish and clearly a bit peeved by his brother it would make more sense.
