Even if you were to place the flashback more in the middle of the fight or keep going back and forth between the flashback and the fight, the flashback would have disrupted the flow whatever way you went about doing it. If they were wedded to the idea of a flashback in this episode then it could have kept both the points with the girl and Arlan in a more a streamlined form and conveyed the points it wanted to. The stuff with the girl would have made more sense to have included before the puppeteer got attacked or in the episode afterwards when Dunk is in jail.
