TMDB & trannyboxd for some reason nuked all of the Biennale trailers, these are all technically short films with film festival releases, why the fuck are they not qualified to be on the database??? These aren't literal movie trailers, they're original shorts commissioned by the festival. Retarded.

Only missing Walker films left now are Sleepwalk, Where and the newest one Night Journey. I wonder why Sleepwalk is still so obscure, it was released the same year as Diamond Sutra, one is available, but the other is not.
There was a Los Angeles marathon of Walker movies last year, Sleepwalk and Where were shown there. But no leaks.

Foids on Letterboxd have been seething about Wrong Move being pedophilic, but not so much Alice in the Cities.
Wrong Move kinda sucks tho, it looks nice, the band of characters has chemistry but damn when they open their mouths it's some awfully pretentious shit. I am unable to follow anything they say. Wim Wenders is better when his characters are mostly silent. I had a similar issue with Antonioni's Red Desert but to a lesser extent. The king of "what the fuck are they talking about, what the fuck is happening" is Fassbinder tho, but he actually makes it work usually.

Hong's new is getting raves and programmers are shitting themselves cause they didn't put him in competition slot and instead filled the comp with utter garbage.
The new one is also one of the meta Hong films, similarly to the one you posted although it goes even further than Hong's usual interest in two repeating stories with slight differences (this is an interesting gimmick that has been used by Resnais and Apichatpong as well). This is probably spoilers so here: There are three acts where the events repeat and then there is a fourth act where the story plays out again but in a literal rehearsal style with them reading off-script in-camera.

>Courtesy of my present circumstances, fallen behind on usual comments on daily things - news, movie crap, etc. So catching up on that. So, first, Berlinale, where long ago - 1977 - 1994 - I was a regular (at the Forum, not competition). So the Wenders "statement" flap, for which I got a thing to join sent to me, and I signed. I have had several direct dealings with Wenders, which soured me on him. He is, despite a clear effort to project himself as a do-good nice guy - an ambitious asshole, self-concerned; a kind of cinephile necrophile. I was directly involved in the 1980 or so film, Nick's Film/Lightning Over Water, about which you can read here:
>His behavior and that film made me livid, but his entourage of promoters did their best PR moves to more or less successfully cover it up and their version became the public one. I was then involved in/observer of Wenders essentially hijacking Raul Ruiz's cast/crew partially) to make The State of Things, which was a film-critic darling, though I found it an odious film which lied about the reality at hand. Your may read about this here:
>It is likely, that in failing to fawn over Wenders Wunderkind, the person and his films (which I find far too self-consciously hip/stylish/shallow), I found myself relegated to the outer-fringes of the artsy film world. TS. I need to be around people like that not at all; give me the folks in D-Block any day, please.
>I did sign the petition regarding Berlinale/Palestine and Wender's equivocating statement - and found what he said in keeping with my past observations and thoughts on him : a despicable fraud of a person, with no moral weight at all, an A-1 opportunistic creep. All too typical of the film/arts world.

>Slop. A completely random hodgepodge of cinematic techniques confusingly and pretentiously edited and colour graded into a giant stinking turd. My guess at what this was going to be was Marlon Brando's only directing credit "One-Eyed Jacks", but the main sins that had was having random objects in the foreground and wasting tons of film. This, on the other hand is a complete grab bag of things like "Riddles of the Sphinx" and "Song to Song" with none of the consistency of technique or vision that those films have. Add to that a collection of unpleasant sounds spliced in that only seem to have the purpose of making the audience go "hey, that was unpleasant" and you have one of the worst films I've ever seen that is bizarrely getting good reviews because critics and are hacks who don't actually watch arthouse or understand cinematography. There is good arthouse out there, this is not it.

Decided to see what are the lowest rated ones.
Emilia Perez is meh, but the moralfaggotry around it was ridiculous.
The two Sean Penn movies are indeed very bad.
Crazy that Nine Lives of Fritz The Cat was in competition. It's well animated but is mediocre, especially if we compare it to the original which I think is a masterpiece. I only watched it cause of my crush on Fritz.
Megalopolis is understandable but I enjoyed it myself.
The Dead Don't Die is also understandable, and I am also probably the only person in the world who actually kinda liked it. It's a silly meta hangout movie, but my sense of humour is probably just poor.
I doubt anyone outside of slav countries knows about this shit aside from the people who saw it back then at Cannes, but basically Mikhalkov went senile and made a weird ass sequel to the original film that is just a bunch of nonsensical bullshit, it's trying to be some kind of WWII with bunch of surreal elements which don't work at all cause it's all shot like a television movie and has the same kind of melodrama of a shitty television soap. Misguided choices everywhere. It's not even entertainingly bad. And he made two of those, Exodus and also Citadel (which has a hilarious poster with Stalin but is too boring as fuck).
PB rating is just due to moralfaggotry. It's a good movie. I don't think I even seen a bad Louis Malle film, like a top 5 filmmaker for me.
Haven't seen The Paperboy but Zac Efron? Yikes!
The Captive is terrible, Atom Egoyan trying to make a glacial Fincher-like thriller, but it's straight up poor on a technical level. Miscast, bad acting, bad directing. A lot of his late films in general feel awkward, he might also be getting slowly senile. Guest of Honour was ridiculously bad. I heard Seven Veils is okay tho but idk.
No comment on everything else.

Is there a difference between watching a movie with your feelings or intellectually? I like to read the reviews after I watched and didn't enjoy a highly rated movie and the reviews never made me appreciate a movie more. They will write a lot about the socialogical and political aspect of the movie and references to literature and philosophers but im like okay cool but it was still boring just people yapping in generic sets with nothing interesting going visually.

>Of the films I have seen of his, there is nearly always a poor put upon figure who I think of as a surrogate Wim. He puts on the costume of nice-guy Wim, but is a malignant figure, and there in his swan song in Berlin he seems to have impaled himself on his own utter hypocritical self, I am sure thinking he was being the voice of kind reason in contentious times. I recall long ago, after Fassbinder in effect killed himself on coke, surrounded by the adoring ever-so-hip film crowd, who were pleased with his "show", Wim announcing he needed to return to Germany from the US to pick up the mantel of German cinema, and I thought, "What an arrogant fucking asshole." And he went back and has been playing his self-appointed role of doyen ever since. A truly disgusting man. (I too despise people who think they are god's gift to the world or whatever little segment of it they occupy.)
>Mr Wenders is far from a genius, and is actually some sort of sociopath - a truly not nice (nor brilliant) man passing himself off as something he isn't. Kind of like an more elegant minor league version of Trump. May his words in Berlin haunt him to The End.
Kek, Jost's Drumpf derangement syndrome turned into a Wim Wenders derangement syndrome, dementia rage.
