My guess at what this was going to be was Marlon Brando's only directing credit "One-Eyed Jacks", but the main sins that had was having random objects in the foreground and wasting tons of film. This, on the other hand is a complete grab bag of things like "Riddles of the Sphinx" and "Song to Song" with none of the consistency of technique or vision that those films have. Add to that a collection of unpleasant sounds spliced in that only seem to have the purpose of making the audience go "hey, that was unpleasant" and you have one of the worst films I've ever seen that is bizarrely getting good reviews because critics and are hacks who don't actually watch arthouse or understand cinematography. Is there a difference between watching a movie with your feelings or intellectually? I like to read the reviews after I watched and didn't enjoy a highly rated movie and the reviews never made me appreciate a movie more.
