>So in my first official act as Prefect, I ordered all labour camp commanders to reduce their output quotas by fifty percent fifty percent. Then I reorganised the camps themselves. Child labour was abolished. Medical care was improved. Food rations were increased. At the end of one month of my administration, the death rate had dropped by twenty percent. Now how did the Bajorans react to all this? On my one month anniversary they blew up an orbital dry-dock, killing over two hundred Cardassian soldiers and workers.

>Because they were blind, ignorant fools. If only they had cooperated with us, we could have turned their world into a paradise. From the moment we arrived on Bajor, it was clear that we were the superior race. But they couldn't accept that. They wanted to be treated as equals when they most certainly were not. Militarily, technologically, culturally, we were almost a century ahead of them in every way. We did not choose to be the superior race. Fate handed us our role. And it would've been so much easier on everyone if the Bajorans had simply accepted their role. But no, day after day they clustered in their temples and prayed for deliverance, and night after night they planted bombs outside of our homes. Pride. Stubborn, unyielding pride. From the servant girl that cleaned my quarters to the condemned man toiling in a labour camp to the terrorist skulking through the hills of Dahkur Province. They all wore their pride like some twisted badge of honour.

Dukats only crime was being too based, I would listen to his podcast. I mean seriously, he was totally in the right.

as someone who has watched Voyager 100 times, Neelix is just.... at first I liked him alot....

but it starts to dawn on you how often Neelix totally messes everything up, gets people killed, is objectively wrong, says the worse possible thing you can say at that moment, is useless. He becomes hard to like.

Neelix is straight up responable for the deaths of like 5 crew members including himself >_<

Look, you don't understand ;_;

Neelix id objectively a disaster for Voyager. He doesn't help voyager once in any tangible way. He actively makes their lives worse. The show tries to frame him as the glue that keeps everyone together but in reality its not true.

People are justified in hating Neelix. You cannot frame this as some imcel thing unless you are saying incels have a monopoly over reality.

He was a coward who refused to serve in his planets military even when the enemy nuked the moon his family lived on. He spent the time hiding from his own people! He was constantly aggressively jealous to everyone who even looked at Kes. Kes was underage. He fucked up the ship because he made cheese in an episode, almost destroying the ships gel packs, which they only had a limited supply of replacements. He constantly lied and got them into shit situations because of it.

Anybody playing the game that came out this week?
>>
>>218131913
>you're desperate to find something
I'm currently rewatching Voyager so I based my comment on shit that has happened so far on this rewatch.

He's just pretty useless overall, he's petty, gets them into scrapes. He's had one good moment with the Kazon Ogla in one of the last episodes I saw but even then the situation was mostly out of his hands and he didn't influence it that much. Maybe his cooking is getting better. That's about it. He constantly bothers everyone, he makes things actively worse.

In the episode I'm on now he's harassing the doctor while the doctor tries to examine Kes.

>>218131775
And she made a hydroponics garden.

>>218131925
Got it downloaded to play later. Started a rewatch of Voyager then saw that shit drop. Felt great.
>>
>>218131913
>He didn't constantly lie
Literally the first thing he did was lie about the Kazon so he could get Kes back.
>>
They acknowledged the lizard episode twice, it's in the ending too.
It felt a bit short. Or maybe I missed things? Hard to tell.
>>
>>218131744
For the first two seasons Neelix is a guide and an expert that tells them about local cultures, etc, and helps chart their course both literally and diplomatically.

Later, he's the cook.
>>
Netflix was fucking Kes before she went through puberty.

Yes constantly. He also lied about being a good cook. His cooking was initially awful and took time to get good. He exaggerated shit a bunch.
>>
>>218131994
Later, he's JUST the cook and the morale officer. But, to be fair, he also undergoes extensive Starfleet training -- piloting training, security training, etc, and is more or less a functional crewman in later seasons who goes on away missions regularly like anyone else. Voyager can't be picky. They're stranded. They use the resources they have and Neelix is an old spacer which has a value in its own right.

You'll be sad to see him go. He's really the only character that gets a good send off.
>>
>>218132023
Also his acting like a guide is someone dubious sometimes and exaggerated.
>>
>>218132048
When
>>
>>218132057
Early on his knowledge of systems pretty much does nothing, when initially he claimed to know far more and potential be a much bigger help. I can't think of much where having him on board really helps things. He barely acts as a guide. About the only two moments I can think of is gaining some supplies on a planet (need that leola root) with him telling a crewman about a poison fruit. And him dressing down the Ogla, which I mentioned before, but really the meat of that situation was what Chakotay did.

Meanwhile he constantly complained about situations they did find themselves in, like the nebula situation, when he wanted to leave in his ship.

Look, watch the episodes, implied off screen stuff doesn't matter to the viewers. You are enjoying the idea of Neelix and not Neelix we see.

I don't know why the writers did this to him either. But he doesn't have a single win in all of his diplomatic work, all of his knowledge is useless and screws over the crew many times. His knowledge doesn't actually purely help voyager avoid danger until season six, Dragons teeth.

His cooking doesn't help. He is a poor chef and the only reason they allow him to cook is to save on the replicator ???? (This part doesn't make sense) but it doesn't matter because voyager never actually entered a situation where they ran low on (replicator energy ???)
>>
>>218132139
I said his skills are a guide are exaggerated and gave you examples based on season 1 and the bit of season 2 I've watched so far on this rewatch. None of it was fan fiction you retard. He's pretty much only been a competent guide like twice. Meanwhile he has nothing to say on situations, systems etc. Unless you think him knowing that a planet has people who are good hosts is top tier guide work or knowledge. Now you're just trolling since you provide zero conversation beyond insults. Quit being boring.

I don't like Neelix and criticised him in other posts. BUT you're wrong here. By season 2 Janeway calls him a competent chef and he produces home cooked food for various crew members (in the season 2 opener he prepares food for those abducted humans too that's considered decent by their comments). And Janeway mentioned how they have replicator rations too to not overuse it.

So I'll mention stuff I mentioned here and more: >>218132122
Opener, Neelix lies about the Kazon to save Kes and doesn't give them the full story. Exaggerates how he can fit any role the captain sees fit, be a guide etc. We know he exaggerates because he claimed to be a great chef and wasn't initially.

Season 1 Episode 4 Time and Again, Neelix doesn't know about the system (destroyed by polaric energy). (This is something that happens, either he knows nothing or basic things.)

Season 1 Episode 10 Prime factors, Neelix knows the race are good hosts. But the race has already sort out Voyager out and he knows nothing about them further that could have helped the situation. Some guide.

Moments I mention:
Season 1 Episode 11 State of Flux, he actually helps gather decent supplies and has local knowledge.
Season 2 Episode 2 Initiations, he helps Tom Paris talk to the Kazon Ogla using his knowledge. But this only partly influences the situation, Janeway talks to them and the episode is more about Chakotay.

Nebula moment I mentioned:
Season 1 Episode 6 The Cloud. When Neelix complains about them going into the cloud. Wanted to stay on his ship. Appoints himself moral officer in the end.

I've watched Voyager before but I was only using examples of stuff I've watched recently on this rewatch when talking Neelix. There is also another anon criticising Neelix who I also criticised here: >>218132252

So I'm not a Voyager rager. His skills as a guide haven't really been there useful so far. Now you show some examples then?
>>
>>218132439
>written before the show came out

>>
>>
>>218132465
>Season 1 Episode 6 The Cloud. When Neelix complains about them going into the cloud. Wanted to stay on his ship. Appoints himself moral officer in the end.
The purpose of this is to inform the audience of why Starfleet does what it does, the importance of exploration, etc. Neelix is just playing the Quark role here -- the non-human who doesn't understand what Starfleet is all about.

But again, it's early S2. He is still very much a flawed character. He's not an evolved Starfleet human.
Keep watching. Neelix becomes indoctrinated by Fed culture eventually.
>>

He comes across a bit too extreme for me. Sometimes the show wants to push him as more, light hearted, comic relief isn't the right word but definitely in that vein. Other times the guy goes from 0 to 60 in two seconds, especially over Kes. Later he does develop in that regard but I don't think they had it planned out well for the contrast? Not always at least. It doesn't come across like that.

Far right.
Watched TNG when it first aired.
Lower Decks, Strange New Worlds, Voyager.
Voyager makes the list not because of the production quality, but because the premise of being lost and isolated fires my imagination. The older I get, the more I'd bang Janeway over Seven. Imagine being one of the Thirty-Sevens and choosing to return to Earth with Voyager. As a civilian outside the command structure, Janeway would feel okay about opening up to you... releasing some stress with you...

Those seem to be the criteria needed to get the good ending. Either one of them.
>400 combat power
I have a little over half of that lmao
>35 sci tech researched
Probably the easiest
>ONE HUNDRED EX-BORGS
Where the fuck am I supposed to fit all those borgs? You can get that many but like, there isn't enough jobs aboard the ship so they'd just eat your food and do nothing for several episodes.
>>
>>218134057
How cromulent.
>>
>>218134041
I was about 400 combat power by the time I got there, I started leveling it a little after Caretaker because I figured it was inevitable
It might also count allied ships for your total so if you have a Hazari ally (120~ str) you could reach that faster
Since you're at the Endgame it's not like you're gonna need those upkeep resources for long, same way you don't really need to house those ex-Borg (5 upgraded regen alcoves isn't so bad though)
Honestly I was surprised I hadn't reached the science one when I got there
>>
>>218133670
>Oh and the Klingons were redesigned to be lizard-like sex pests
More like Cardassians, an improvement
>>
>>218134093
I reloaded my save, put a bunch of combat rooms on my ship and reached 370. That's a lot of space and energy for just combat systems.
Playing it in Survival Mode was fucking brutal, I had to redo some episodes like 8+ times.

Which characters did you use in combat the most? Klingon Belana says that it buffs phasers every time she uses the skill but it's hard to tell. The anti-borg torpedo from the teenage borg guy is OP as fuck. And Tuvok just works. Those were my 3 guys.
>>

>>
>>218134297

>>
>>218134256
>That's a lot of space and energy for just combat systems.
It's worth it, especially against Borg at the end, they end up pretty non-threatening compared to some species, and the Equinox
>I had to redo some episodes like 8+ times.
I probably should have done that more, I wanted the Viidian doctor and Icheb at least but I failed her roll and Icheb glitched out on me and killed himself
The only two times I rerolled was the Equinox fight (I needed way more torpedoes) and Harry Kim dying (also during Equinox), for some reason I wanted to keep him around
>Which characters did you use in combat the most?
Early on I had Chakotay but my mainstay ended up being
>Tuvix (I know, but having low cooldown Tuvok shots was great)
>One (A whole extra energy level for a good amount of time was surprisingly absurd)
>Regular Belanna (For safety, but with enough investment in shields Borg can barely penetrate them anyway)
I switched Belanna out for Seven during the final fight and it turns out splash damage torpedos are amazing, saying it's good against Species 8472 really undersells it
Good luck with the last hurdles, anon
>>
>>218134356
Did you play normal or survival?
I'm thinking about what would be necessary to win with one the build required to see the good ending. Like the combat specialized ship, you'd have to basically run on a morale deficit but make up for it with victory, basically chase fights. The science build, you'd have to rush 3 or 4 science labs just to pay for it.
The borg one kinda sucks. It needs borg tech 5 and 100 drones but no specific tech or buildup. But the cost in food alone would be crippling. It gets me into the weird problem of having too many crewmen and not enough jobs for them.
>>
>>218134355
Yes.
>>
>>218134454
Survival is Normal, Easy is Adventure and Hard is Year of Hell, so I played Survival
Unfortunately I shredded my ship afterward (since it saves just before the big finale) to get some annoying achievements out of the way so I don't remember my exact build, but I did just remember that I removed all my Borg rooms to add more upgraded phasers and metaphasic/regular shields just before going in because one of the achievements is "Finish without any Borg rooms" so I ended up having 80 or so Borg sleeping in corridors
It's fine to cripple yourself resource-wise if you can make that final push, at least for the combat ending it's pure combat with no breaks, I think 3 battles or so (the second one was pretty cool, you're up against 10~ Borg probes all at once)
Definitely invest in an ally if you can, you can pay them when you get to Earth
>>
>>218134713
>It's fine to cripple yourself resource-wise if you can make that final push

My voyager philosophy is alittle schitzo, I'll admit. But again you are falling for the Neelix who they tell us he is, instead of who we see.

The amount of times someone actually enjoys Neelix food is less than 5 times. And in one of them the guy was brain damaged. Neelix seemed to be good at cooking cakes. (The writers would never poo on Hensens cake co.) While the number of times everyone hated his food is ten times that.

Twin Peaks was also parodying soap operas at the time which were serialized. In fact, I think the term Soap Opera came from the fact that these shows were made to sell ads for cleaning products to housewives watching TV on weekday afternoons. Another question when this happens in any show is why they don't just phase through the floor or get left in space as soon as the ship moves.

I think somewhere after season 3 of TNG Patrick Stewart starts talking differently. It's like a murmuring ASMR. It sounds like Bob Ross... it annoys me so bad.
>>
I think it’s funny when Riker is doing the officer exchange with the Klingon ship and he’s eating all the Klingon food in preparation and someone is giving him a look of disgust to wit he’s like
>it’s a Klingon delicacy
As if you’re going to eat delicacies on a star ship. It would be like a Klingon eating caviar and foie gras on eggs Benedict to prepare to serve on a human ship.

I'm watching through TNG for the first time. I'm currently on the season 3 finale. I'm curious what all the Wesley hate is about. So far I have not seen him say or do anything even remotely annoying. He's not one of my favorite characters, but I can't see anything bad about him. Does he get weird in the later seasons or something?

I don't think you know what that word means. Wesley showed he had to work hard and constantly to get in Starfleet. Kind of funny since in the new show Starfleet only accepts the most moronic and emotionally unstable.

Wesley was a Gary Stu with whom Roddenberry had an obsession. It's no coincidence that once the latter was on the way out, Wil got relegated to guest star status. I don't think he deserved the level of vitriol that he received, but it's funny to look back considering the man (if you can even call him that) he is today.

Nobody said nepobabies can’t also be skilled enough to follow their chosen path. But he’s not even in the academy yet and he gets to fly the most important spaceship in the entire federation, gets to experiment with its warp reactor, etc. he gets opportunities not afforded to people who don’t have moms Jean Luc Picard wants to nut in.

So you're upset not every person in the galaxy is put on a starship and given access to drive. That's retarded. There's plenty of kids on the ship. None of them show the drive or dedication Wesley does.

I’m also a Trek newbie, only having gotten into the franchise about 4 years ago. Making my way through DS9. It’s great but TNG is still my comfort show.
Anyway I think Wesley hate was an early self-perpetuating meme. People hated Wesley because they were expected to. And they were expected to because Wesley was always the one you were supposed to hate.

I really don't get it either, I never got the gary stu issue either since he fucks up quite a few times, like in that starfleet academy episode, which is a great episode starring Wesley. Then again, I also don't mind Alexander or Lwaxana so maybe I just have shit taste.

He wasn’t right. He prioritized rules and regs over his squadmates. 99% of the time where that concept is in play on the show they do the opposite and are rewarded for it. He ruined people’s lives because he’s a teachers pet tattletale
>>
>>218141871
Mostly because everyone’s afraid of intimacy and are scared of labeling their relationship as one particular thing. Also why the word situationship got started
>>
>>218141915
Didn't the others end up getting second chances though? In lower decks one of the girls from the squad appears right? Thats far from ruined.

>Already disproven by a previous post.
No it wasn't. He was bad initially but got better.
>That has nothing to do with anything
He wasn't a good guide.
>Now you're asserting an impossible standard even though he obviously is doing his job as a guide.
He exaggerated his skills.
>Again, see above.
He had little influence.
>So he tries to help them
No he didn't. His complaint had nothing to do with him being a guide, he didn't try and help them. He was angry they were explorers getting into scrapes.
>You literally just proved yourself wrong
Your points are factually incorrect and prove you know nothing. You provided no counter examples.
