Yeah. I got up to Sector 5 on my first run before restarting, and am back up to that on my new run where I go out of my way to recruit everyone I possibly can.
>Carey (just don't
>Kunut (Kazon you rescue. Just don't let the Kazon on Voyager to check on him, then give them the ship back)
>Telek R'Mor (time displaced Romulan. Acquiring him is pretty simple. You make the experimental beacon, beam him over, try to send him back and then cancel once there's a problem mid-transport. Convince him to stay on the ship or he just leaves the game entirely)
>Both Klingon and Human B'elanna (saving both B'elannnas requires you to pass, then fail, then pass three checks. Fail the first, Klingon dies. Succeed the second, Human turns back into a Hybrid. Fail the third, Human dies.) Took ~30 save-scum attempts for me to get that result
>Tuvix (objectively a bad choice since you lose out on Tuvok's logs, which are half of the game's already limited voice acting, but his combat ability isn't half bad)
>Danara Pel (day 1 DLC. The side mission isn't visible on the map until you enter its system)
My next step is surviving the main story Kazon battle and then trying to redeem Seska (which apparently makes Chakotay leave the crew)
My biggest disappointment in the game is that when you get replacement characters (Tuvix and split B'elannas) they aren't factored into the storyline (the dialogue choices for the original characters are greyed out and you won't see ones for the new characters) and their roles on the bridge are replaced by generic characters with no real personality. Fucking Kunut even has parts of the story that are affected by his presence!

New Voyager game. Gameplay is pretty bare bones, and the ship combat is mobile game-tier. Semi-roguelike (think frostpunk or FTL, but easier) where the map and resource layout is different every run, while the main and side missions are the same. Replayability is more based on what research you choose to do, the occasional what-if change to a story mission and what crew are alive. Not a bad way to waste a weekend, but there are better games out there.
Also, the only cast member voice acting in the game are the personal logs of Tuvok and Paris at the beginning of every chapter. If either of them die or "die"(like Tuvok becoming Tuvix) then you lose out on that character's logs for the rest of the run.
I have no idea what Trek youtubers are good or not, so here's a vod of a stream I watched last night from a guy who knows WAY too much about 40k poop lore https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2702164163

How does Barclay have a spider-like ancestor? The last common ancestor of chordates and arthropods would have been a tiny, simple worm-like creature in the ocean. Does Barclay perhaps have some alien ancestry? Considering this episode was written by Braga, perhaps he was sowing the seeds for the history between Humans and the Xindi.

A fair rating. You’ll probably end up liking ENT the least. DS9 and VOY usually battle for the spot next to eachother.
I hope you still liked ENT though, nonetheless! It was kind of hated in its time because it had big shod to fill and general audiences just had Trek fatigue by the 00s. But looking back with hindsight I think people generally now think ENT is pretty passable and okay

ENT is only being reevaluated because the P+ shows are so much worse. It aired during the golden age of television. Of course it got left in the dust. If the streaming shows were a return to form, ENT would have stayed forgotten.

I think I finally figured out what they are planning with this series. It's a real life The Producers scam. Think about it. They greenlit it for two seasons, but both seasons were ordered at the same time. Presumably, the checks have already been cut, and the budget is assigned. But what happens to all that money for season 2, if they can make a 1st season so bad that they get the series canceled and written off as a tax deduction before the 1st season even finishes airing. Who keeps the money when that money gets written off as a loss? Someone is going to pocket HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars off this shit. Screenshot this post.
>>
>>218147254
They get a ship in the third season and the show becomes infinitely better around that time.
>>
>>218147445
>they just write it off Jerry

>>218147445
It’s a show made to look good to shareholders on quarterly growth charts. They can lie through their teeth like “We’ve seen strong viewership growth in the 18-29 demographic due to Starfleet Academy”. Meanwhile it’s people signing up for UFC and South Park.
>>
>>218147445
>It's a real life The Producers scam

>here go make STD!
>*gets cancelled*
>Yeah well we are still going to let you make a million more shows anyways, nepo chosen one! Here is an unlimited budget!
>>
>>218147558
It’s a show made because it was in the pipeline for 10 years and probably already cost 10 mill by the time it was ready to go into production. It’s that 30 Rock joke where they spent 20 million retooling a sitcom and it ended up as Jenna’s horror thriller b-movie

Voyager is watchable, and occasionally strays into peak trek territory but overall is kinda mediocre.
It largely still has the trek feeling though so if you want more trek it's worth giving it a go. There is a handful of really good eps, but the premise is wasted and many episodes feel like dumb redos of TNG and TOS stories.
I havent seen BSG yet, planning to soon so I can't really make a judgement on that
>>
>>218155432
Give VOY a watch if you still want more trek but just know it has some of the worst episodes from the franchise as a whole but it also has incredibly great episodes. So the highs are high and the lows are really low. Overall its pretty mid though. Never seen BSG, but i should.

Again, this is bad worldbuilding.
Starfleet wears many hats, and it is all vague and unclear, even though it already fought in wars as early as TOS against Klingons and Romulans.

Literally one line is necessary:
"Starfleet’s first role is exploration and science. However, in times of war, it serves as the defense force of the Federation."
>>
Schrödinger’s Navy - both military and not military.
If Starfleet is successor to the space agencies there should have been successor to military branches OR just have it all focused on exploration without the Klingon and Romulan nonsense

>>218158216

>>
>>218158750
The Federation fought wars against the Klingons and Romulans. The Federation is not Starfleet. Starfleet is only one part of the federation. The federation also includes many other races that have their own independent warships, like the Vulcans. Trying to argue that Starfleet is a stand in for the military is willfully ignorant at best, especially when they've done multiple episodes where Starfleet encounters more militaristic factions and we can see the differences side by side
>>

The alternate paths are still neat regardless, and there are plenty of procedurally generated resource-gathering missions as well as optional sidestory quests. The general quality of the episodes is as good as most other seasons, but its marred by a few really annoying character decisions. Most notably with Dukat and Dax, and Worf by proxy too.

I'm a bit contrarian in that, I didn't mind Dukats arc. Dukat is still enjoyable in s7 because the actor is so fucking good. I really like the death cult episode for example.
Going crazy and lusting for revenge is just a let down to until then a pretty complex character. Also the pah wraith stuff (despite the hilarity of the cult ep) is pretty lame. Is it even dukat by the end?
Having him bang Kai Winn though is also hilarious too. The character itself I think deserved a bit more nuance overall.
>>
>>218163557
That's fair, I do agree that he was a far more interesting character prior to his descent into madness, but his stint as a Jim Jones cult leader is so stupid and fun. Also, like you said, Alaimo is such a top tier actor he can turn any script into gold, the guy oozes charisma.

This actually describes DS9 much better, DS9 is also the least sci-fi and most soap opera. Voyager is far more consistent, but more science weird in the style of TOS. TNG is consistently the best and most serious. TOS is king camp but also the highest of the sci-fi highs.
