Started replying right before the last thread died>>218131925Yeah. I got up to Sector 5 on my first run before restarting, and am back up to that on my new run where I go out of my way to recruit everyone I possibly can.>Carey (just don't >Kunut (Kazon you rescue. Just don't let the Kazon on Voyager to check on him, then give them the ship back)>Telek R'Mor (time displaced Romulan. Acquiring him is pretty simple. You make the experimental beacon, beam him over, try to send him back and then cancel once there's a problem mid-transport. Convince him to stay on the ship or he just leaves the game entirely)>Both Klingon and Human B'elanna (saving both B'elannnas requires you to pass, then fail, then pass three checks. Fail the first, Klingon dies. Succeed the second, Human turns back into a Hybrid. Fail the third, Human dies.) Took ~30 save-scum attempts for me to get that result>Tuvix (objectively a bad choice since you lose out on Tuvok's logs, which are half of the game's already limited voice acting, but his combat ability isn't half bad)>Danara Pel (day 1 DLC. The side mission isn't visible on the map until you enter its system)My next step is surviving the main story Kazon battle and then trying to redeem Seska (which apparently makes Chakotay leave the crew)My biggest disappointment in the game is that when you get replacement characters (Tuvix and split B'elannas) they aren't factored into the storyline (the dialogue choices for the original characters are greyed out and you won't see ones for the new characters) and their roles on the bridge are replaced by generic characters with no real personality. Fucking Kunut even has parts of the story that are affected by his presence!
>>218143850She’s a babe
>>218143872>Carey (just don't accuse him of being the traitor. Easiest hero recruit in the game)How did that get cut off?

>>218143906New Voyager game. Gameplay is pretty bare bones, and the ship combat is mobile game-tier. Semi-roguelike (think frostpunk or FTL, but easier) where the map and resource layout is different every run, while the main and side missions are the same. Replayability is more based on what research you choose to do, the occasional what-if change to a story mission and what crew are alive. Not a bad way to waste a weekend, but there are better games out there. Also, the only cast member voice acting in the game are the personal logs of Tuvok and Paris at the beginning of every chapter. If either of them die or "die"(like Tuvok becoming Tuvix) then you lose out on that character's logs for the rest of the run.I have no idea what Trek youtubers are good or not, so here's a vod of a stream I watched last night from a guy who knows WAY too much about 40k poop lore https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2702164163Just skip through it, or look up a review on youtube.

How does Barclay have a spider-like ancestor? The last common ancestor of chordates and arthropods would have been a tiny, simple worm-like creature in the ocean. Does Barclay perhaps have some alien ancestry? Considering this episode was written by Braga, perhaps he was sowing the seeds for the history between Humans and the Xindi.

>>218144438>>218144746I think I finally figured out what they are planning with this series. It's a real life The Producers scam. Think about it. They greenlit it for two seasons, but both seasons were ordered at the same time. Presumably, the checks have already been cut, and the budget is assigned. But what happens to all that money for season 2, if they can make a 1st season so bad that they get the series canceled and written off as a tax deduction before the 1st season even finishes airing. Who keeps the money when that money gets written off as a loss? Someone is going to pocket HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars off this shit. Screenshot this post.

Schrödinger’s Navy - both military and not military. If Starfleet is successor to the space agencies there should have been successor to military branches OR just have it all focused on exploration without the Klingon and Romulan nonsense
>>218158750>>218158216gene was a weeb so its japanese self-defense force coded
>>218158750The Federation fought wars against the Klingons and Romulans. The Federation is not Starfleet. Starfleet is only one part of the federation. The federation also includes many other races that have their own independent warships, like the Vulcans. Trying to argue that Starfleet is a stand in for the military is willfully ignorant at best, especially when they've done multiple episodes where Starfleet encounters more militaristic factions and we can see the differences side by side
>2nd playthrough of Voyager:>2 B'lonnas: dead>Kazon dude: recruited>Seska: ditched with angry Kazon>Ship: not 2 seconds from disintegrating/mutineeSo far so good, Ensign Lani is cuter than B'lonna anyway. Next up is Scorpion, this game clips along through the episodes quickly.
>>218159611>The federation also includes many other races that have their own independent warships, like the VulcansWhen was that stated? And why were Kirk and Picard constantly provoking the Romulans by spending time near the border? What were they 'exploring' there?

>>218159984What way? I already did the bit where you first encounter their bioship among the Borg debris field and everybody made it back from that mission just fine. Kazon Dude is a surprisingly good crewman, I like the cut of his jib. Also Seska is certainly dead by now and in no way will ever come back to bite me in the ass, surely.

>>218161039TNG S1 was a game of chicken between the writers and the censors to what they could get away with on a family show. It was probably the Bugs Bunny effect where they pitched something outrageous first so what they really wanted would sound more tame. >Can we show women wearing softcore porn outfits?>Of course not!>Okay how about outfits that you could show on a Victoria's Secret catalogue?>Ugh. I thought season 7 of DS9 was actually quite good. I can't in good faith call a season with episodes like treachery, siege, paper moon, inter arma, and the last arc, a bad season.
>>218161611that's a little disapointing. I was kinda hoping they would make it more roguelike, so people could add in other ships/crews/scenarios with mods or DLC
>>218162332enjoy your botnet
>>218162297Peak of the swirl
>>218162376The alternate paths are still neat regardless, and there are plenty of procedurally generated resource-gathering missions as well as optional sidestory quests. I just finished Scorpion and Kes left like in the show (I think I could've gotten her to stay by letting Tuvok guide her?) but somehow wound up with 7 of 9 AND 9 of 9, plus a third unnamed Borg.
10 of 12
>>218162372The general quality of the episodes is as good as most other seasons, but its marred by a few really annoying character decisions. Most notably with Dukat and Dax, and Worf by proxy too. Also the prophets conclusion is pretty meh, but they kinda wrote themselves into a corner for it.
>>218163279typical networks for you, always pursuing prophets over people
>>218163279I'm a bit contrarian in that, I didn't mind Dukats arc. I thought there was enough decent build up to him becoming a bonkers lunatic to make it feel natural, dude was a huge narcissist and suffered a tremendously embarrassing defeat and lost his daughter within the span of a few minutes, that would be brain shattering for someone like him.
>>218163391its sisko that personally pushes him over the edge and that would be kino if ira didn't retcon it and suck his dick for the rest of the show
ds9 season 7 or how i hastily introduced a shitty brand new character and dedicated half of the season to her while spending the other portion assassinating the remaining good ones
>>218149410Garak would love and hate /pol/
>>218163477you vastly overestimate the time that fucking up took them, it's still a pretty okay season outside a few eps.
>>218163391Dukat is still enjoyable in s7 because the actor is so fucking good. I really like the death cult episode for example.Going crazy and lusting for revenge is just a let down to until then a pretty complex character. Also the pah wraith stuff (despite the hilarity of the cult ep) is pretty lame. Is it even dukat by the end?Having him bang Kai Winn though is also hilarious too. The character itself I think deserved a bit more nuance overall.
>>218163557That's fair, I do agree that he was a far more interesting character prior to his descent into madness, but his stint as a Jim Jones cult leader is so stupid and fun. Also, like you said, Alaimo is such a top tier actor he can turn any script into gold, the guy oozes charisma.

>>218157620It's a better episode than Measure of a Man which is filled with plot holes and lore lapses.Drumhead is even worse.Court Martial is the best courtroom episode in Star Trek.

>>218164302It's always fun seeing a Klingon in a profession other than warrior

>>218163860>Measure of a manDisagree, it has plenty of problems but at least its handled by a back and forth discussion In Court Martial the defendant basically sits on his ass and doesnt actually handle any law problems, and gets saved by a last second piece of evidenceAlso it holds up worse than Measure of a Man, while its a bit silly that android rights hadnt been figured out by that far future, its even more absurd to believe that computers are 100% infallible and that cant POSSIBLY be tampered with
>>218163860I also liked the one where Jadzia was put on trial for Curzon's crimes. It was fun seeing Sisko assure himself Curzon hadn't changed at all, while assuring the court Jadzia was a separate person.
>>218164738why is ro laren doing magic with the new spiderman and some random magicians assistant
>>218157620>>218163860Court Martial is nonsense, they invent a contrived "ion pod" which makes no sense. The attorney was based though.

>So the highs are high and the lows are really low. This actually describes DS9 much better, DS9 is also the least sci-fi and most soap opera. Voyager is far more consistent, but more science weird in the style of TOS. TNG is consistently the best and most serious. TOS is king camp but also the highest of the sci-fi highs.
