Only just watched the episode about 30 minutes back. Some of the things in it seemed as if they were a /got/hotd/dunk/ shitpost in television form. Westerosi jazz. Raymun marrying the whore. The bee-coffin. A true knight finishes the story. Sixteen Tons, and by Tennessee Ernie Ford at that rather than some medieval-esque version. I am not complaining, it is just not what I was expecting.

Lyonel was a great favorite of the small folk at the joust, he would knock the fancy sliver and gold sigils from other knights helmets and throw them into the crowd, then he shows up to help dunk the peoples champion. On the surface it just looks like a good dude looking out for commoners, but maybe their was a plan or at least the beginning of one. Win over the small folk position house baratheon as the house that cares, recruit or at least scout out potential knights to recruit down the road. Could go a long way in the coming war. The Laughing Storm might have been a lot more cunning then previously thought.

Honestly I don't know how I feel about Dunk being dumber in the show. Like him not knowing that he couldn't joust in the first day, or some of his lines being given to Egg instead. In the novella he called himself dumb, but he showed wisdom when he asked Maekar to raise Egg as a peasant squire. In the show Daeron was the one who pushed the idea to him. I guess it gives more character to Daeron by showing him trying to put things right.
