>Your false king is dead, bastard. He and all his host were smashed in seven days of battle. I have his magic sword. Tell his red whore.

>Your false king's friends are dead. Their heads upon the walls of Winterfell. Come see them, bastard. Your false king lied, and so did you. You told the world you burned the King-Beyond-the-Wall. Instead you sent him to Winterfell to steal my bride from me.

>I will have my bride back. If you want Mance Rayder back, come and get him. I have him in a cage for all the north to see, proof of your lies. The cage is cold, but I have made him a warm cloak from the skins of the six whores who came with him to Winterfell.

>I want my bride back. I want the false king's queen. I want his daughter and his red witch. I want this wildling princess. I want his little prince, the wildling babe. And I want my Reek. Send them to me, bastard, and I will not trouble you or your black crows. Keep them from me, and I will cut out your bastard's heart and eat it.

My promise to Lyanna lets you pretend to be my bastard and display my colors since I cannot undo that promise. And to teach me humility, the gods have condemned me to watch the mad king's grandson waddle about wearing that proud wolf that was my brother's sigil and my father's before him. But neither gods nor men will ever compel me to let you turn Winterfell into another wildling village. Go, now. Speak no more of your rights to Winterfell. Go. Oh, one more thing. Why did Ned abandon Robert after the rebellion? Concealing all of his sister's secrets with him, leaving his "brother" to live out his days among enemies, clinging to his oneitis who he believed loved him back.
I don't get it. Edward is supposed to be some honorable man, but he's the worst person of the first act of the overarching story. He's not malovelent, or particularly evil or sinful, he's arguably worse, the worst thing any man can be; indifferent.
He's just a mindless soldier who seems to have very little opinion or willingness to act one way or another. Even when he does grow a pair and calls out Robert on his madness, he makes no attempt to actually cull said madness, only to once again abandon him as well as those Robert would do harm to, those who Ned would argue are innocent. He is a coward, through and through, yet the story opens with his execution of one whom the law names cowardly. By what right does Eddard of House Stark swing any sword when he has no discernible understanding of why he swings it, only that he's been told to?
Even The Hound defied orders, the law, and the gods, to satisfy his conscious. A dog, greater a man than the wolf. Pathetic.

Alright lads choose:

>Prince 20th in line of the throne. No honor to be gained, probably married off to some Lady of lower nobility in some wasteland, the population of which, utterly despises you. Your name will fade in obscurity and you have no place at court
>Johnny Kingsguard. Born in fleebottom but with talent for swordmanship. You'll never be a lord but you'll be a respected knight
>Maester Virgin. Whereas the Kingsguard fuck women at brothers you find yourself surrounded by other virgins. You're too smart for the commonfolk but not smart enough for Grand maester. You'll most likely serve some Kingdom's liege Lord and live til old age
>The watch. You either die during some wildling raid or you get to be Lord commander one day, depending on your resolve and your eagerness to deal with the cold north
>>
>Though King Aegon had acquired a distaste for the Valyrian custom of incestuous marriage during his years amongst the smallfolk, Prince Jaehaerys was of a more traditional bent, for from a very early age he had loved his sister Shaera and dreamed of wedding her in the old Targaryen fashion. Once aware of his desires, King Aegon and Queen Betha had done their best to separate the two, yet somehow distance only seemed to inflame the mutual passion of this prince and princess.

And besides, the line of succession can shorten a lot very quickly depending on conditions...

On rewatch Tywin is actually a retard

>Let's himself get bested by Robb over and over again because he underestimates a teenager
>Makes it a habit to put Tyrion in life threatening situation just for sport
>Too retarded to conclude Jaime and Cersei had a thing going on while being surrounded by Baretheons for the majority of his life
>Wastes a good opportunity to deal with his succession during the Tyrion trial out of spite. At the very least he could have sent someone that would easily be beaten at the trial of combat, allowing Tyrion's champion (most likely Bronn) to win and then send Tyrion to the wall to save face but noooooo
>>
>>218240273
Realistically? He might’ve gotten a landed widow or a Stark bannerman’s third daughter or something I think.
There’s not really a “plan” for him nor even for Bran and Rickon. Like nobody could have forseen the Lady Hornwood situation or the war I think a Lord like Ned just waits for the situation to develop because people always end up dying sooner or later

Joining the Watch is a great solution for what to do with Jon from Ned's perspective and it solves a lot of problems:
>If his parentage comes out he can't be a contender for the throne or be used by some plotter for a rebellion
>Can't father legitimate children who could be a threat to Robert's rule down the line
>Saves Ned from having to leave him with Cat in Winterfell

if your standards are that low, you'll love dunk

3 of those flaws are the same one: he was dogshit at anything pertaining his children

Raymun plot line happened because the showrunners don't understand right wing morality, and that's a bad thing. They think that Dunk is the same as Red because they both lie to change their social status, only Dunk does it in the male way and Red does it in the female way, thus they have solidarity with each other. This is wrong - they are not the same.

Dunk's lie subverts a rule that ultimately has no substance and has become a corrupt mockery. All he lies about is whether someone performed a hollow ritual on him. Meanwhile, he actively follows every tangible tenant of that ideal by his actions. None of his actions are lies. He protects the weak. He earns his own keep. He is strong, even if he can't properly use his strength yet. He teaches his symbolic children to be men like him. He is a just judge and not corruptible.

Meanwhile, Red is a liar in her actions and subverts the most important role of traditional femininity (motherhood). What she does is wrong on a very deep level that exists before any hierarchy, and people are hard-wired in their DNA to accept it. Everything that drives Raymun ultimately serves him securing women to bear his children and resources for those children, thus he must be repulsed by the lie for those efforts to not go to waste. It's not even the prostitution that is the problem - men are wired to reject prostitutes as partners because if they didn't their children might not be theirs. Red takes this even further by making the possibility a certainty and being complicit in it. It IS not is child, she KNOWS this, and she uses this as deception to secure his resources. She is lying about the entire concept of womanhood and fulfilling none of it.

This is the opposite of Dunk who fulfills every aspect of manhood, but the corrupt society artificially says he's not a man.
>>
>>218240949
Alys Karstark is like a perfect example like nobody could have seen that opportunity coming and at the beginning of book 1 the situation was stable enough where they never would have given her to a bastard but by the time she actually needs to get married they just need a warm body and Jon would have been an excellent choice

I knew that he would always be there to catch me. Then one day he wasn't. Men come and go. They lie, or die, or leave you.

because he wasn't meant to be fighting so he didn't have his proper serious armor on him, and also maybe because of this the armor didn't fit as well, and that maybe if he had his own armor on him he'd have lived

ultimately dumb and gay point that wasn't important in the books. they're trying too hard to reference the Theoden scene where he buries his son while being le subversive, but the ENTIRE POINT of the Theoden speech is that it's already a subversive corruption of what should be - a father burying his son, not a son burying his father. This """subversion""" just turns back around into the natural reality of a son burying his father, only they try to hamfist the armor thing in there to change this basic fact. Bravo Ira, you absolute retard.

Bloodraven reveals he can’t affect the past. He’s tried. He doesn’t have the power. He doesn’t think Bran can either

> But," said Bran, "he heard me."

->"He heard a whisper on the wind, a rustling amongst the leaves. You cannot speak to him, try as you might. I know. I have my own ghosts, Bran. A brother that I loved, a brother that I hated, a woman I desired. Through the trees, I see them still, but no word of mine has ever reached them. The past remains the past. We can learn from it, but we cannot change it."

Something was happening in that place that wasn't just Lyanna giving birth.

House Dayne.

He literally concocts a fake story with their help saying Wylla is the mom and then fake Ashara Dayne’s death as well as her daughter’s

Check the original AFFC synopsis:

> Continuing the most ambitious and imaginative epic fantasy since The Lord of the Rings The action in Book Four of A Song of Ice and Fire begins the day after the end of A STORM OF SWORDS. While the remaining northern lords war endlessly with each other and the ironmen of the isles attack the Dreadfort, Sansa becomes a skilled player in the game of thrones with Littlefinger as her mentor, Arya a skilled assassin, and Bran a magician and shapeshifter of great power. All seek to gain revenge for the death of their parents and Robb Stark, whose head was cut off and replaced with the head of his direwolf. Valar morghulis. All men must die, and wolves, too. Danerys trains her growing dragons and learns from Barristan the secrets of her father, her brother Rhaegar, and other matters that will culminate at Starfell. And Jon Snow is the nine-hundredth-and-ninety-eighth lord commander of the Night's Watch. The Wall is his. The night is dark, and he has King Stannis to face. The cold wind is rising, and still there are inhuman powers gathering in the north. "

Sure, but again, why the need to pull down an entire fucking stone building? My best guess is that it wasn't just someone giving birth, but some Summerhall 2.0 shenanigans, and Ned wanted to erase all evidence.

It doesn't really make sense for the cotf to just be bad and the enemies of men. That's how it was before, but they came to some kind of agreement on the isle of faces, and men started worshipping the old gods, which are cotf gods or ancestors.

Maybe I could buy it if men are violating the agreement by switching to the faith of the seven, but that's hardly a new development.

The idea the show presents with the white walkers makes more sense than this on a high level.

That's the only thing I can think of too. Nothing else would need you to destroy the building. The reason grrm hides summerhall so much might be because it'd relate to this too. A survivor of summerhall trying to do summerhall again makes sense, although Ned clearly thinks positively of Rhaegar which means he can't have been crazily trying to sacrifice everyone

Sending him to the watch neutralizes (and protects) Jon politically, and it's seen as an honorable way to get rid of bastards and younger sons in general. There's a long tradition of trueborn and bastard Starks rising to prominence in the Watch.

However, in later books Grrm invents the idea that Ned planned to buy The Gift back from the Night's Watch and settle it with new lords and people. With this retcon it seems downright evil to send Jon off to the Watch, when he could have made him a minor lord.

So Varys supports targs…which is why he was undermining Rhaegar trying to depose his insane father…and then convinced Aerys to disinherit Rhaegar. >Illyro's mother

>introducing the blackfyres at all
>aerion going to essos as brightflame first (proto blackfyre)
>varys believes power lies where men believe it does; truth is what men believe is truth
>varys undermines aerys
>varys does not seem interested in helping viserys and dany at all
>sells off dany
>likely knows viserys will get himself killed
>at the very least he's trying to delay them, possibly because original plot has him assisting them and not blackfyres
>shaves his head like egg
>sorceror wanted his blood specifically for his ritual
>treasures given to Aegon suspected to be blackfyre
>the golden company (honestly even just the golden company supporting him makes the simplest explanation a blackfyre)
>why did the golden company not support viserys if a real targ is fine with them?
>the washed up black dragon sign that became red
>the mummer's dragon
>dany as slayer of lies
>varys lives the lie and would not tell the truth if there was any risk, and little birds were present
>no explanation for illyiro and varys teaming up, other than being old friends, but varys does not seem the kind to stay loyal for that reason
>aegon would definitely have been killed by tywin or robert, so someone would have to secret him away
At the very least you would need to believe george is setting this all up so he can reverse uno Aegon being real. The one thing that supports him being real I can think of is "three heads of the dragon" and we don't know who the third head is, and aegon would be the most obvious. And that's if the three heads of the dragon is even going to come to pass

>Calm as still water, a small voice whispered in her ear. Arya was so startled she almost dropped her bundle. She looked around wildly, but there was no one in the stable but her, and the horses, and the dead men.

>Quiet as a shadow, she heard. Was it her own voice, or Syrio's? She could not tell, yet somehow it calmed her fears.

I know in TWOW, Arya mentions the trees are watching her while she’s in Nymeria
>>
>>218242826
many such cases. ned and theon also experience it
>>
>>218242826
Jon when he was beyond the wall
>>
Bran has the ability to cuck anyone.

He can literally skinchange into any guy in the middle of sex in the present or past and cum inside their women
>>
>>218242872
any bad thing can now be excused on Bran.
Theon betrayed Starks? Bran did it!
Aerys madness? Bran did it, then ordered execution of his grandpa
Rhaegar and Lyanna? You bet Bran did it too
>>
Brackens are such a loser fucking house. I bet the guy who farted felt like a faggot loser seeing the king stand up for Dunk

Why does this sound so kino?
>>

Only Blackfyre worth liking is Daemon. It's all downhill from there.
>>
>>218240273
He was on track to marry Arya.
>>

a Blackwood would've jumped down from the stands, done a 3600 degree backflip, and pledged his sword for Ser Dunk.
>>

people will say the Boltons are evil but they did stand by the Starks for like 8000 years and only rebelled like twice

>>

Rhaegar's genes compelled him to pursue the she wolf.
>>
Theon would've been a good King of the Iron Islands since he was raised by Whites
>>
>>218243173
I always figured the Starks kept the Boltons around for the same reason Tywin had Gregor Clegane, just a outright terrifying threat for any other houses that get ideas of rebellion.
The old kings of winter knew the Boltons were still flaying but used it to their advantage as punishment for enemies.

Always baffled me how Ned’s lie was never figured out.
Like no one in all the kingdoms, not Varys or anyone, ever asked themselves “hey, why did Rhaegar have THREE Kingsguard guarding Lyanna Stark?” Or “isn’t it odd how Eddard Stark entered Dorne to retrieve his sister who’s been missing for a year, but left it with her bones and a baby?”

For me, the Japanese cover artworks help me imagine the 'Book Accurate' characters, although with a little bit of extra fantasy mixed in - Dany, Jon, Bran & Tyrion are well-done for their respective covers as well I feel.

Essos is a squabbling collection of rump states spending fortunes trying to enslave each other; Westeros unified is a true realm (even if unity is sometimes hard to come by).
>>
>>218244289
Essos is mostly barren dessert
>>
>>218241706
I don't think they send non-Westerosi to the wall for crimes, because there's nothing stopping them from deserting the same way there is for Westerosi (ie: foreigners can just desert and if they get a boat out of Westeros they're home free)
