Was Tom Paris actually a Chad or a normie?
Robert Duncan McNeill's hairline was clearly getting worse with time, but good styling and angles made it look acceptable. He also varied between fit and fat, but at least looked tall.

It seems his game fell apart once he got the Klingon baddie.

he had confidence

such confidence made him almost steal Kes from that hedgehog nigga
put 3 salamander babies in Janeway's snatch

confidence can make you do anything
I speak broken Spanish but because I speak it so confidently people think I'm borderline fluent, including people that actually are fluent

Be confident.

I like the repetitive and status quo nature that people bitch about. It’s much better than the streaming structure where it’s one episode stretched out to 10 hours with characters constantly talking about their feelings and recapping the plot every 20 minutes.

Multi-ethnic Vulcans was among the worst ideas of Star Trek. It's illogical to only date within your own ethnicity. Mixed Vulcan babies would be so much healthier and diversify the gene pool. I can only assume that Spock and Tuvok were oldschool racists.

>>218392748
I was wondering when we would finally talk about this.

Does anyone else feel like they're underselling the threat in SFA? The pirate guys had decades to make cloaked mines and place them around the borders of the Federation. They were only able to weaponize their mines after they stole Omega-47 from Starfleet and replicated it. That means these marauders were the real power all along: They had the ships, the ports, the allies to do all this without letting the Federation find out. The Federation is the small fish in the big pond now.

There are like 35 worlds or something at the start of STD S3. So it's really small, and didn't even include Earth. Small enough that some space pirate faction that isn't even mentioned in the same league as the Emerald Chain is able to lay mines all around it. The mines are in all directions above and below the Federation, and if the Federation ever tries to leave their bubble to impose their sick morality on the rest of the galaxy, they will go off and cut the Federation worlds off by ripping up subspace.
>>

Put it in historical context: there were a lot of reboots and legacy sequels to classic 60s shows in the 80s, and virtually all of them were terrible and got canned after one or two seasons. Also the TOS characters were just synonymous with Star Trek. It wasn't a big shared universe yet, just a show and some movies and various books and comics all featuring the same classic characters that people knew and loved. There wasn't only a bad precedent for bringing back old shows but the idea of bringing it back with an all new cast seemed ridiculous.

Replicator technology was too powerful and creates too many narrative/worldbuilding problems. I also feel it cheapens humanity's enlightenment if we were only able to overcome greed due to what is effectively magic.

The broad "we can make food instantly appear" aspect is fine but they should've established that there are limitations to it rather than "we can literally create anything except for when the plot arbitrarily requires that we can't."

I'm doing my first full rewatch of DS9 since the 2020 lockdowns and I feel like an idiot for not picking up that Tain and his housemaid are Garak's parents when I first watched the show. I think it gets spelled out several seasons later when they're in the Dominion prison but it's extremely obvious in the two-parter where Garak blows up his shop just by the way they act. On my first watch I just accepted that Garak was Tain's star pupil and nothing more.

I go to Arby's three times a week. My favorites are the reubens and french dip & swisses.
I just picked up ihop and got two eggs, two slices of ham, hash brown, and cheesecake pancakes for dinner.
Got an extra stack of pancakes for using the app so I'll be make a food trek to the fridge later.

I'm so much fatter now than when I started lurking /trek/. I blame to food enablers here.

The acting gets better just like it did in TNG. I couldn't believe how shitty the acting was in the flashback scenes of the Emissary. No emotion.
>>
One thing that really took me by surprise upon rewatch is how there are barely any Sisko episodes in S1; pretty much just the pilot and season finale. Even looking at the later seasons where he is much more definitively the central protagonist, I am reasonably confident that out of the 5 Tru-Trek captains, he has the lowest percentage of screentime for their respective shows.

Something I find interesting to think about:

If Frakes wasn't given second billing in the opening, would you even know that Riker is supposed to be the second most important character? Especially season 3 and onward as the gap between Picard and Riker focused episodes grows, and Data and Worf take over the show as well.
>>
>>218400122
I know ensemble means together in French but I've never actually thought about what that means in English. Like everybody's a main character?
>>
>>218400372
There's no clear main character in star trek. A main character is someone who's always involved and the show is basically that character's story. Imagine if a Geordi 'sode or a Barclay 'sode eventually turned out to be about how it all affected Picard.

Anon, please tell me you don't believe the only Matrix that exists is the 1999 movie. You can't be that ignorant. There are matrices used in everyday life with mathematics, used since the mid 1800s, and, multiple mentions of a Matrix or equivalent constructs in entertainment media since the 1960s. The word itself is from the 14th century Latin, meaning source/origin/womb. It's a thoroughly used word outside of the movie trilogy.

>Does anyone else feel like they're underselling the threat in SFA?
They're not underselling the threat, they have no concept of the things they're saying happened.

There's no measure of post-burn federation space, but pre-burn was supposedly "eight thousand lightyears" (and we presume that to be cubic lightyears, not the diameter) and the Federation's number of component worlds was reduced to a tenth of its former count, giving us a space with a surface area of roughly eighty-six LIGHTYEARS.

I don't give a flying fuck how explosive each individual particle of omega-47 is, there is simply no way that any organization was able to physically cover eighty-six LIGHTYEARS of surface area with literal physical mines.
That is absolutely retarded on a level I assumed Star Trek could never achieve.

I get that Star Trek is a fun universe to explore silly things happening, like people turning invisible or adults turning into children.
But this is just avant garde right? Like at a certain point there’s a line that crosses into “too stupid”
Corny ass writers trying to do quirky 4th wall breaks with SAM talking to the camera, people breaking out into song and dance… muppets? They’re just doing stupid whacky and zany high school theater fanfic plots and calling it acceptable because it’s “le crazy star trek!”
