Star Wars fan here.I know I'm hard on you guys, but it's really just because I wish you would learn to stick up for yourself. Some people in life are going to walk all over you if you let them. Pretending that Alex Kurtzman isn't real isn't going to make him go away and they are going to keep producing this crap if you guys just keep posting "earl grey tea lol" like it's 1985 and all of this is just a dream. We have like 6 shows and an average of 1 and a half of them are good, but it's still mogging this. Star Wars fans will complain because a plant doesn't look right but at least it keeps these people at bay and stops it from becoming complete shit.

Okay I'll cya bros it'll look suspicious if I put in anymore overtime without anything actually getting done.
Did Holly Hunter have a stroke or is having a heavy lisp a gimmick of these Temu El-Aurians?

Reminder that this is Starfleet policy.
I forget, did VOY or ENT have an eppy or 'sode similar to Disaster / Civil Defense / Starship Down?
Would you say that VOY episode stories were closer to TOS during the Kes seasons, and closer to TNG during the Seven seasons?
Pluto plays the same episodes over and over again.
I want to see Voyager, but the premise of Seven of Nine annoys me. I love Star Trek, I don't need titty bait to stick around like a fucking Neanderthal.
>>218508388seven of nine is one of the better parts of voyager even if she was thrown in there solely for sex appeal.
>>218508388She could be way less hot and her character is still solid.
>>218508388What's funny is that Jeri Ryan had amazing range. Body and Soul is a good example. So is Unimatrix Zero. But they put her in the titty suit anyway even though she didn't need it. Such is Hollywood
>>218508388I have mixed feelings on Seven. On one hand:>she's hot>she has fun gimmick episodes>pretty decent acting chops>overall more interesting than half the castOn the other hand>she's part of the overuse and neutering of the Borg>she's a walking reminder of BTS crap (desperate ratings grab, Kes being written off, Mulgrew apparently treating Jeri Ryan like crap)>a lot of her dialogue is just the standard Spock/Data/Odo stuff but with Borg catchphrases crammed in; eventually you get sick of hearing assimilate, perfection, futile, etc.
Star Trek Picard do be the stupidest show that has ever aired on television no cap.
>>218509288The new one is legitimately even stupider
damn i forgot jeffrey combs had yet another role on ds9
>>218497921Fun fact: this episode establishes that Qo'nos/Kronos is the name of the Klingon homeworld. It's implied in The Undiscovered Country but not outright confirmed. TNG calls it Kling in a S1 episode and then sticks to "the Klingon homeworld" for the rest of the series.
>>218509619It doesn't really have "writing". Things happen and then they're over. I'm not being smug when I say that it basically has the depth of iCarly.Picard has over 20 writers and that goes in airquotes for all of them. You know it's smart because things for smart people have an orchestral soundtrack and the intro has a spinning DNA double helix.
>>218508122No to TOS, yes to TNGKes era is weird, its more like really bad episodes of MASH
Other than Seven and Raffi, was basically everything from the first 2 seasons of PIC ignored for S3? I only know about S2-3 through Memory Alpha, RLM, and Major Grin.
>>218510138S2 ignores S1 and S3 ignores S2I don't understand why these streaming shows work this way.
>>218510262>S2 ignores S1 and S3 ignores S2Huh, so it's just like the Star Wars sequel trilogy...it rhymes.
>>218510311The seasons contradict themselves too!
>>218510138Almost everything is forgotten except one of the stupidest plot points of the first two seasons; the fact that Picard is literally dead and Patrick Stewart is playing a Soong-type android made in his image with his memories.
Klingon history is wild. Worf just casually drops that they were pillaged by the Hur'q 1000 years ago. So they had a fucking alien invasion presumably before their industrial revolution.
I wish there was a version of Memory Alpha that wasn't tainted by nu-Trek "lore"
You guys DO watch Trek with your Runabout toy, right?
>>218510652that looks like it would hurt to put in your ass
>>218510138No, it doesn't ignore anything or act as if it never happened. All three are just basically self contained seasons that aren't continuations of the previous one.The main thing is that showrunner changed in season 2, and the new guy used s2 to write out almost the entire s1 cast except Raffi, because he got in his head that he was going to create his personal Next Next Generation instead of using this ones. His version is pretty embarrassing since it's so much worse than how s1 did it.Also stop watching that fucking brainlet Major Grin, jesus.
>>218510670You want the micromachine one then
>>218510670That's nothing compared to this girthy boi.
>>218510766>No, it doesn't ignore anything or act as if it never happenedI mean it definitely does handwave away whatever it was they were trying with the Borg in season 2 as some isolated pocket of nonsense that didn't apply to the broader Borg as a whole, so there is that
>>218511570The guy in s3 who is like "the Good Borg don't count, shut the fuck up" is a Wolf 359 survivor, he's not making some rational or clear statement on the state of the Borg. S2 even ended putting the Good Borg safely away in a corner away from everything guarding that mysterious Transwarp conduit so they wouldn't be involved in what came nextThe Borg in that season end up being exactly what was described in s1 and s2, the last functional remnant of the Collective barely hanging on because Janeway's actions decimated it completely
>>218511564For a second I thought that was white LEDs on the side but they didn't even exist at the time.
>>218510563Worf says Klingons killed their creator gods 1000 years ago too. Worf is not a reliable source of information
>>218508388Unironically Seven of Nine is an interesting island in a sea of blandness. It does get kinda annoying that once she's introduced, like a third of the episodes revolve around her in some way, but what else are they gonna do? Write a Harry Kim episode?>actually compelling, workable characters:>Janeway, Tuvok, The Doctor, Seven of Nine>glorified NPCs and/or charisma vacuums:>Chakotay, Torres, Paris, Kim, Kes>Neelix:>Neelix

>Voy S5E01 NightBeing alone in deep space must be scary enough, but imagine your whole ship losing power. You're in complete darkness, unfathomably far from the safety of your home.
Almost finished watching TNG. After every episode I like to look up people's thoughts on it online; it surprises me how often episodes I really enjoyed have mediocre reception and then episodes I thought were average at best (ie Darmok) are consistently in top 10 lists. Today I saw Eye of the Beholder for example and thought it was awesome, yet apparently many people seem to think it was weird and/or gay
>>218512882Now imagine you are Janeway and there are other species of aliens just waiting to be baited and switched over moral diplomatic overtures. Bonus you get freaky aliens to "protect" that justify your backstabbing All the sudden the infinite darkness seems friendly
>>218512882I don't like this episode just because it makes the crew seem so utterly weakthey've literally only been in the void for 2 months when the episode startsJaneway is suicidally depressed, Paris and Belanna are arguing in public, Neelix is having panic attacks They'd have tons of maintenance to do, countless hours of data to pour over, not to mention the fact that they'd just get to chill out for once - i really dont think it'd be that big of a deal
>Which just goes to show that we can all agree that all Star Trek shows are bad, except for a certain 3. You know what 3 I'm talking about.
>>218512945It is weird and gay but it's also good
>>218512945I thought it was kinda mid but it's okay if we don't agree.
>>218512945skin of evil made me cry and feel very deeply and i thought about it often. turns out people give it 1/10's and make essays about how terrible it is. i don't understand. i like the classic old testament concepts of true irredeemable evil and good and justice and stuff. and i love every single time Data talks. i consider it the best episode of the star trek.
>>218512945What other episodes did you disagree with the hivemind about?Personally I think most of the telepathy episodes are dumb and Troi is a boring character.
>>218512945If we're being candid, I actually didn't care much for The Measure of a Man the first time I watched it.
>>218513355You're right, most people seem to hate that episode. I remember quite liking it and found the villain very intriguing and memorable, but then again I didn't find Season 1 nearly as bad as its reputation would suggest. Aside from lame shit like Code of Honor (not even for its "racism", it just sucked), I found most of it enjoyable.Data is awesome, he was instantly my favorite character but desu I don't find him as enjoyable is S7, and perhaps even dating back to S6. Not sure if this is a popular sentiment, for me it's a combination of the subtle changes in how he play the role and perhaps one too many "Data is manipulated into being a serious threat to the crew" episodes. Conversely I found early Worf to be somewhat of a joke but now I really love the character. >>218513373Another universally praised episode I found more so average was Best of Both Worlds. Felt more like a popcorn episode than a thought-provoking one that sticks with me. Then there's episodes like Remember Me which is among my absolute favorites that aren't typically seen as on that level
>>218513134Feels like something that'd make more sense if it was like, a yearBut it kind of links to another personal complaint in that Voyager is entirely too sterile. They're on at best a decades long journey with a very real prospect of it becoming a generational ship, and nobody ever makes Voyager their home. The void would probably grate less if there was actual comfort.
>>218513637I think over time it's become relatively accepted that BOBW part 2 is a bit middling compared to the first half. Kinda peaks once you hit the Wolf 359 scene.
>>218513637I'm oldfag enough that I watched TNG on cable as it was airing and Best of Both worlds was the most kino cliffhanger between seasons. Remember Me was pretty good.
>>218489925>If you were any other anon, I would kill you where you stand!
>>218513726I'd agree with that. I, Borg is another episode that is rated very high (8.8 IMDB) that I felt was merely "good". Maybe it's just a Borg thing for me, as a concept they're a cool ideabut I find Romulans/Cardassians are more intriguing villains. I'm aware that's a very unpopular/retarded opinion for most though>>218513748Fair enough, didn't even really consider that. Apparently it was a question at the time whether Stewart would even return to the show so yeah, that would definitely add to the suspense
>>218513911You'll love DS9 if you're a Cardassian guy. Gul Dukat is easily the best recurring Trek villain imo.
