I just watched an anime that I wanted to recommend to my /trek/ bros, especially if you like timeloop episodes and autismo characters like Data and Spock. It's called Gnosia.It's not focused on space exploration, and it's an adaptation of a video game of which it retains some of the mechanics, which requires some suspension of disbelief.But it has a character who starts out as an insufferable autistic tranny you can't help but hate, yet by the end he becomes so helpful that I always felt really elated to see him.
