It needs explosive moments that retroactively make all of the previous watching worth it. As time goes on, people tend to forget about the bad portions of the season for two reasons>they enjoy focusing on the parts they enjoyed more>they quite simply didn't fucking watch the parts that were badMaybe I don't watch enough stuff, but I have never seen anything quite like the reckoning of alex b by the one-two punch that was the hogwife and frank hassle in 24 hours. I have never seen anything like swamp olympics. And seeing those things retroactively made the whisperhouse segments worth slogging through. But if the show maintains a consistent level of "good" quality content, it doesn't really keep attention because there is pleanty of other stuff out there that is good which I can occupy my time with. Good simply isn't good enough. Basically, it doesn't matter how low the show gets if the high is high enough to balance it because the high is what will be remembered.
