All it does is incentivize boring friendtank, nobody will have the balls to do anything interest or content worthy after what happened to Bashir. Production needs to change how it works: let the elimination be decided by whoever comes last in the challenge, but keep it a secret and have the winner of the challenge shoot them with the paintball gun.
