>yeah, it's a hit
seriously? the most generic-looking space travel movie is a hit? and you're surging promotion after the thing already came out? i didn't watch it and i'm pretty sure nobody else has watched it. it's probably tanking.

i watched the trailer and it looked basic af. i could easily watch it for free, but won't even bother. it's just space slop.

just watched the trailer again and it looks derivative as shit. movie will be forgotten about in two weeks. obvious marketing ploy to praise the film as being a massive hit. when you have a hit there's no need to keep marketing. flop slop.

UH OH, RETARD ALERT!
>>
>>219162963
I saw it for free.
It's interstellar but more gay. I've seen excerpts from the book and the book looks like utter shit. It's a good thing they cleaned it up a little so the dogshit writing doesn't come through so much in the film. It's took long and the science is complete trash. However I enjoyed myself - I like going to the theater. I had the opportunity to recommend it to a friend who likes space shit and I didn't so I guess that's it.
5/10 looks nice and has some decent acting and perilous moments

The Russians changed the name of Rocky's mate to Adriana and consequently made her female.
>>
>>
>>219165128
Adrian in the Rocky movie was female anyway but the Russians would do that because they have gendered nouns in Russian

Anon put yourself in my shoes
What other fucking sci fi movie is there, to make me not see this one, as a sci fi enjoyer
>>
>>219165185
I don't really want to start a holy war, but Eridians are a single-sex race in the book and Adrian can imply a male mate for Rocky and Russia has a law against a propaganda of homosexuality. So both the planet and Rocky's mate are called Adriana in the Russian dub.
>>
>>219165287
yes a name that doesn't end with an a would imply masculinity in Russian.
In the film it implies that Adrian is a female since Adrian is a female in Rocky the movie. No mention was made in the film of them being single sex. I don't think it's unreasonable of the Russians to do that, even without anti-gay laws.

They probably missed the point and just found Rocky cute. In fact seeing a high IQ engineer rock lose all his friends and form a bond of brotherhood with an alien at his lowest moment to save his species being reduced to "haha funny rock baby" is probably the most woman take imaginable.

Normgroids go absolutely nuts for big budget science fiction epics with pretty VFX even though none of them will ever look as good as 2001 a movie that came out 58 years ago when CGI didn't yet exist. Characterization and writing comes second to VFX and scale of epicness for the normie which is why they don't think twice about rating it a perfect 10/5 stars on their IMDB/Letterboxd accounts.

I saw the same criticism toward F1, and that movie also made bank. The truth is, movies nowadays are so shit that if you released an average '90s/2000s movie right now, it would be a huge success. And that's exactly what F1 and Project Hail Mary are, throwback movies to simpler times, with a straight white male protagonist being good at their jobs, being a hero, and saving the day. Generic? Yes. But a billion times better than girlbosses, niggers, or whatever other shit modern movies are full of. Generic beats slop every time.

On the off chance you're actually being serious theaters don't show movies for free. Domestically studios take a larger 50-60% cut, but overseas it's 30-40% and as low as 25% for places like China which is why I never understood why Hollywood tries so hard to pander to them.

Production budget also never accounts for marketing which is usually an extra 100-200 million for big budget studio tentpole films like this one and Amazon clearly wants this to do well in the theaters despite them usually betting on streaming with just token theatrical releases. PHM will need to make back 2.5-3x its production budget just to break even so between $500-$600 million.
