I'm done watching Society. Rather mixed on it and appreciate how far ahead of its time it was but I loved how batshit crazy the third act got. Also Clarissa's mother was just such an odd character.

I wouldn’t worry too much about that. It’s just that the german censorship got a hate boner for violence. Any normal country shouldn’t have an issues with it.
But do your own research, I can’t promise anything.

Funny that you mentioned it. Because german censorship seems to have less of an issue with sex.
Here is a good example.
>dawn of the dead (the remake)
Got the german DVD, specifically because it was the original release. The german blu ray got the same master as the international master for home release, which was “cut” in a way. Or at least changed from the original version. They covered a zombie woman’s tits with some cgi blood stains on a windshield.
In the german DVD version you can still see her tits.

It is just like 28 Years Later and numerous modern horror movies where they shove a pregnant character or baby in for the female audience. Thing is, when you do that female coded stuff, it isolates men. Men don’t enjoy female stuff like females enjoy men stuff.

For years and years I saw this movie on "most disturbing movies of all time" lists up there with Salo and A Serbian Film. And then I finally watched it and it's just on par with most Rated R horror movies as far as gore and violence.
Why does everyone act like this is such a fucked up film?
>>
>>219645722
Does anyone else get really scared by the idea of "omnipresent evil"? The idea that we're always surrounded by the evil creatures/spirits/demons and we don't know it because they haven't chosen to interact with us/we haven't done the rituals/we haven't went to the right location creeps me out. The idea they could be right next to me but exist beyond my perception (in the same way dogs can hear frequencies we can't, many birds see at a higher frame rate than humans do). Like in The Exorcist with the whole "spare some change for an old Altar Boy Father?" scenes? I'm aware my picture is from a movie at the light end of the horror spectrum but the fact he was there the whole time watching but only chose to reveal himself at the end really spooks me out. What if those "I thought I saw something out of the corner of my eye" moments aren't just our imagination?

Many cultures (including my own) have superstitions out mirrors. One recurring superstition is not placing a mirror in a room in a position where the reflection of a door or window can be seen. The superstition is that mirrors can be an inversion (potentially evil) of reality. Things that can't enter your property through a physical door or window *can* enter your property through the reflection of your door or mirror.
>>
>>219650828
It is clear modern movies are meant to make as much profit as possible by catering to as big a demographic as possible. Females really hold “mother” as an identity because they have no other status unlike men who can be “millionaires” or “billionaire ceo” or “engineer” or etc. Females literally have no or low status and hence some very low status females list “wife” as an identity in their profiles. Throwing in pregnancy is the easiest way to cater to the female audience. Men like action and a pregnant character definitely slows things down. The moment I saw the pregnant character, I knew there wouldn’t be much action in the movie like Crawl from Alexandre Aja.

Its essentially school kids deal with a ghost story each episode. The dub exists only because the show tanked in Japan and when they sent it overseas for subbing they basically just said "make up whatever you want". Early 2000s humour, I miss it bro's.

>This one film starts with scene of old man in refined upper class party setting, old man is telling jokes and he starts to tell this vulgar joke about rabbit and bear iirc. (the bear wipes his ass on rabbits fur) but people start gasping, I think not because the joke was dirty but because the old guy gets some kind of seizure

Anyone knows what im talking about? I think this is start of a horror movie, I thought it was devils advocate but when I checked that one starts with courtroom scene unsurprisingly

I think The Faculty seems like the weakest bodysnatchers film in terms of the horror of snatching, but gets everything right in the "fun 90s teen horror" lane so it still is a good watch. Huge cast of stars, the start of the film seems like a red carpet now.
Also anon was right, the real takeover was the bangs epidemic.

Watched The Ghost Galleon (aka Tombs of the Blind Dead 3) and easily the weakest of the 4 films. Models and a search party travel across water and encounter a strange fog. Once enveloped by the fog they come across an ancient ship carrying the corpses of resurrected templar knights.

One by one they're picked off while the only thing that makes it worth watching is the mood and atmosphere it generates.

Otherwise it's a bit slow while I fucking love how the movie was soo cheap that they used a really shitty model ship for wide shots.

In terms of the series overall, 1 is good, 2 is great, 3 mediocre along with 4, which I prefer over 3, as it has a heavy Lovecraftian influence.....

Roe v Wade was in 1973, this movie came out a year later and was social commentary disguised as a slasher film, one of the earliest examples of feminist horror. Black Christmas still a fun movie though and it isn't trying to hammer you over the head with its messaging which is how it should be done. Some may think horror films being used as metaphors and allegories is a recent phenomenon but it goes back a long way.

>The Shining for example was a metaphor for Stephen King's own alcoholism and his fear that his addiction might one day cause him to inadvertently lose control and hurt his family.

>George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead uses a suburban shopping mall as a central metaphor to critique consumerism and the dehumanizing effects of late capitalism. The film portrays literal "mall zombies" as mindless consumers driven by a subconscious memory of their former lives, wandering aimlessly through the mall aisles in a grotesque parody of human shopping habits.

>Don Mancini was directly inspired by the Cabbage Patch Kids craze of the 1980s to write a dark satire on how aggressive marketing and consumerism affect children which turned into Child's Play.

>There's rape imagery all over the original Alien with the Facehugger/Chestburster stuff and when Ash tries choking Ripley by shoving a folded up porn mag in her mouth inside a room full of posters of naked women hanging in the background and when Ripley undresses into her skimpy underwear at the end is when she's the most in danger.

>Invasion of the Body Snatchers was a metaphor for the Red Scare of the 1950s.
>>
>remember a movie that scared the shit out of kid me for years
>rewatch it as an adult
>it's not nearly as scary as I thought back then

Finally watched this movie. It's not even a critique about capitalism and communism. It's straight up sadism. There's isn't enough food for 666 people on that tiny little platform. That number implies it's some sort of metaphor for hell. There's also a major plot hole. How was the child able to survive for so many months? Why was she alone on the last floor? There would be at least one individual that wouldn't mind eating her. The movie also seems to be a metaphor for child sacrifice to appease a demon (the administration).

>>219681967
It's not a plot hole it's just an intentionally surreal and ambiguous ending. It can be viewed in a lot of ways which I give the film credit for, though I agree with the general consensus that the end kind of sucks.
My interpretation (from memory) was that the child was a representation of innocence that people recognize. Something that can halt the depravity, akin to that dead child that washed up on shore in Europe.
There are nods towards capitalism in how people get into the tower. i.e., I think one person mentions student debt.
Anyway you'll have to watch the sequel now.
