Can't believe Dukat generated a holo-image of himself as the Emissary and shared it on all subspace frequencies.
>>219702435At least he knows how to fight like a man. That's more than can be said about some other characters I've seen.
That's because he always was a real man.

Are there any TOS experts that could answer a question for me? I just watched That Which Survives. When the ship is locked into high warp drive and is 15 minutes from exploding, Scott crawls into an access tube to try to make fixes to keep the ship from blowing up. This makes sense to me. But, then Spock has Lt. Rahda prepare to jettison the pod along Scott on his order. Why? If jettisoning the pod will save the ship, then why not do it before the 15 minues are up and give Scottie a few seconds to get clear before hitting the jettison button? If it won't save the ship, then why bother with the jettison at all?
>>219704496maybe they wanted to kill scotty
>>219702435Do you think those actors expected Shatner to do that? They look genuinely taken aback
>>219704496its basically jeffttison the fuel pod, later reworked to jettison the warp core
>the enterprise is too busy patroling the neutral zone to help with the kilingons or cardassians and dominion war, but they said they could spare worf
>>219705957The Dominion would've just ganked the Enterprise if it did show up. They wrote the whole USS Odyssey storyline specifically to show that this would happen. A single Galaxy class ship would make no difference to the war.
>>219705994its a sovereign class you pleb
>>219704496it scotty didnt fix it they would most likely all die anyway
>>219705994the cardies kidnapped picard because they knew enterprise would take the lead in any conflict, it being the flagship and all. its just proof that the feds didnt care about the retarded bajorans and the problems they caused for themselves.

Just ordered the first season of 80s Twilight Zone on DVD, partially because of the high concentration of Trek actors.Quite like the original series but only seen maybe one episode of the 80s show before. Great theme song and incidental music by the Grateful Dead too.

>>219708153Horse riding/husbandry wasn't a cool young man thing to do in thr 70s. It was for kids and old people that liked westerns and playing cowboys and indians. And women. Always women. It would've detracted from the polyathlete professional the puff piece was going for.

>>219705994>The Dominion would've just ganked the Enterprise if it did show up.Nuh huh, because Geordi and Data would you multi tachyon anti polarity field (that they just pulled out of their ass), to deflect all of Dominion weapons, and then hack all their ships to blow up or something.

borg nanotech is dumb and i hate it.
>>219715093>Several on Voyager, yeah. He's instrumental in establishing contact between them and the Federation, and in getting the Doctor back and forth to cure Zimmerman. He even appears in VOY season 1.
>>219712911>Voyager should have just enhanced their warp drive like their demon planet duplicates did, it wouldn't have destabilized real people. That's what made it such a kino 'sode.>the demon crew is constantly patting themselves on the back for coming up with such an amazing redesign for the warp drive>they're puffed up with the idea that they're going to be famous for creating it when they get back to Earth>realize they're all mimic goo>broadcast an SOS to the real VOYboys>demon ship goes splat just before Voyager arrives>Voyager: "Huh... weird. Well, let's turn around and keep heading for Earth."The audience is left with the realization that the Voyager crew was almost given a technology that would have gotten them back to Earth in record time if not for the missed connection.
>>219715140He's great at portraying Barclay going from absolutely at ease on the holodeck to constantly dropping spaghetti irl without making it obnoxious. It's nice to see him go outside of his comfort zone to help Voyager too, risking not just embarrassment but punishment as well in order to do that right thing. As soon as it works he's rightly praised for it, too. I liked seeing that.
Don't forget Barclay's cameo in First Contact

>>219739855I remember only two things from this episode:>Kirk casually spanking dudes on the ass after a training session, no homo of course>"There's no right way to hit a woman, Charlie."
can you niggas see the Delphic Expanse/Azati Prime here? I like knowing my bearings.
>>219710983I like how Sisko's got a smirk about it - like "yeah, that's how a man gets it done!" - and when Dukat looks at Kira with a smug expression she just turns away, seething and malding in the face of Cardassian superiority.>>219702342Exactly! The moopsies are no threat to the Founders . . . but to the solids? Those violent, bone-filled solids?
>>219741162There's something really funny to me about measuring distance in space because there is functionally no point in caring about any of it between planets or space stations because it's just emptiness.
Hated Sisko from the very first episode. I understand grief but he's far removed from the death of his wife and he knows that there is literally nothing voluntary about being assimilated and yet he's STILL a complete cunt to Picard, acting as if though he was responsible for what happened. Combined with the godawful performance and I just can't with this show.
>>219741455Yea I could tell just from looking at him he was a bad seed. Something about his complexion just rubbed me wrong.
>>219741455>not slurping his nuts from the back is "being a cunt" ok
>>219741541You're a dishonest prick and I hope you get hit by lightning

>>219740717>>"There's no right way to hit a woman, Charlie."One of the few times Kirk was wrong... By today's standards, anyway.
>>219740485When I was younger I used to legitimately thought there were 8 other Deep Space shows I had to watch before starting DS9.
>>219730673I think he assumed Mayweather was a different species.
>>219741278I got a bone for you right here
>>219741455Sisko was such a bootlicker compared to past captains too
>>219713064I just watched that episode, are you me?
>NOO WHY WONT YOU GIVE US YOUR TECHNOLOGY>sorry but your planet will blow up and while we can do something about it we wontstarfleet is so hypocritical
>>219742534Planets and people have to die. It's part of life.
>And what about the crew stranded 70 years away from home who started allowing ChatGPT to use up holodeck time because a 1-year old they let onboard thought it was a real person?>This one actually happened.
>>219742534Planets can be rebuilt.
>>219742613It really is crazy. He deleted a medical database because the Cardassian doctor was a chud according to on crew member, went insane over basic medical ethics, filled his programming with pornographic subroutines, singing subroutines, subroutines devoted to leering and leeching the female crewmembers, almost abandons the ship to become an opera singer, transports to the alpha quandrant to work out the daddy issues he added to his programming, writes a holonovel insulting the and denigrating the crew, sends it to earth without telling anyone… I could go on and on
>>219731318They're not *bad*. They don't quite scratch the itch, but it comes close. Also Prodigy is good.
>>219731439>Kirk's 5 year mission begins in 2265 with "Where No Man Has Gone Before"No?
Hit best of both worlds on my latest rewatch and I have the same thought I've always had with this episode: it's great but not really an all-timer. The second part is noticeably weaker too but even the first part just doesn't land the way it presumably did for audiences when it was airing. I usually don't care about outdated visuals but for the borg it's always been a bit too goofy and the idea of an assimilating hivemind is no longer a novel concept at all so the thematic elements of loss of self and culture don't feel as punchy, especially after having watched voy.
You now remember this was a thing.
>>219743169Is it worth a watch? I think Dal is cute.
>>219743169I dropped STD in the second season and haven't watched a second of nutrek since. I genuinely hope Kurtzman dies a painful death. Gods wrath already took Orci and I like to think it was for his role in mutilating the corpse of trek
>>219743169This is the only semi-bearable thing in the entire decade of Kurtzman trek, and it's still not worth watching.

Am I alone in finding it weird when they ask Data questions that the ship's computer would be obviously better suited to answer? It feels like the writer didn't want to interrupt the flow of the scene by having a character stop and talk to the ceiling
>>219753127i find it more odd that data has spent 10-15 years living as an independent person, including at least 3 at the academy and he still acts like its the first day he was turned on. imagine a walking talking fully functional sexbot getting through the academy without cadets fucking it. its absurd.
>>219753127Just about an hour ago, I was posting in a thread on /v/ and asked a question that someone else then said I should have googled. I think people simply prefer conversation if it's an option, especially if they're already in one. Data is one of the bros.
Sex with Species 10-C.
>A line in the script but not contained in the finished episode would have revealed that Benjamin Sisko served at the Federation embassy on Romulus early in his career, where he befriended a Romulan member of the kitchen staff named "Stolpan". It was further revealed that Stolpan was arrested by the Tal Shiar for "political improprieties," and in response, Sisko was prepared to go to the Tal Shiar Headquarters and convince them to set him free. However, Sisko was eventually persuaded by Curzon Dax not to go.Damn that missing line was one hell of an infidump
