Today I did a rewatch of Peleshian's "La Nature" (2019). On this particular rewatch I was particularly interested in studying how Peleshian mixed media of qualities. He doesn't seem give it much care but the difference between footage is stark. There are times when the nature of the footage seems like it should have derived a much higher resolution (drones footage, modern nature doc footage and the like) but it is of a much lower quality. I am not able to tell if this is due to Peleshian liberally cropping (which he is prone to do) or if her is intentionally lowering the quality. It is certainly clear that Peleshian enjoys the abstract nature lower quality footage gives and the form it reveals. pic related is an example of lower quality video exacerbated by a zoom.
I was also interested in finding Peleshian's patented "distance montage" in this flic. It only occurs once, and its quite weak by his standard (weak in terms of its connectedness at any rate, if you don't know what you are looking for you can very well miss it). Can you point it out /film/? If you're a kino master you could.
