>>220002491You probably skipped anything that had Janeway's gothic horror holonovel in the teaser like any normal viewer would.
>>220001853You've gotta watch it just to be able to fully appreciate how they squandered all the potential with the mostly episodic TNG formula. The night before last I unironically dreamt about a Voyager finale where by the end of the show the ship was so beaten up and had so many alien modifications that it had become virtually unrecognisable, and then the first Federation ship that meets it is a clean, unmolested Intrepid class. Voyager pops out of a wormhole or whatever and they meet nose to nose, so it looks like a fucked up mirror image. In RLM's Voyager video Mike dismissed this as a possibility because they had their roster of beauty shots of the physical model they had to get their money out of, but the show was openly intended to be used as a testbed for CGI effects. Half the regularly used beauty shots of Voyager were already CGI from the very beginning. If you're uncertain whether you're looking at CGI or not you can tell from whether the windows beneath the shuttlebay are lit, they couldn't squeeze lights in there for the physical model.

Reminder that one exploding panel took out both Janeway and B'Elanna in that episode where Kes was traveling backwards through time.
I'm fine with exploding panels as a visual way to communicate the ship is getting damaged, but I hate how frequently it just insta-kills the poor goldshirt. I always hope they're just horribly burned and unconscious, but too often you have a main character check their pulse or dialogue confirming they've lost a crewman.
How exactly does a shower of sparks kill a person? In TNG sometimes a crewman would get badly burned, in VOY's pilot some of the bridge crew had shrapnel wounds, but later on crewmen just fall over and stop breathing. Is it supposed to be such a concussive force that it damages them internally? Is it supposed to be electrocution?

>>220016118Thats not a line from the show.
>>220003974>>220004511I have often thought that a criminally neglected part of Damars character is that he shows a extremely high level of technical skill that never gets commented on. The fact that the Dominion are throwing every available resource at the mine field and he is the one to bring it down is amazing if you think about it.

>>220001853I haven’t started it yet but RLM sold me. I agree with their opinions on DS9 and TNG. So if they liked VOY, it’s worth a shot. But I’m no mindless RLM sycophant since I hated One Battle After Another.
>>220020126> >the very first sentient hologram the Federation itself created that exists in a medical capacityImagine getting tricked by ChatGPT like that lol
VOY S1 was way better than I recalled. But now I'm in S2 and...oh it's bad.
>>220001853Janeway is consistently hilarious as a captain of a starship.
Seven of nine is such a weird aspect of Voyager because she is an interesting character, Jeri Ryan gives a great performance and her being hot doesn't hurt either. But she completely takes over the show. There are so, so many seven-centric episodes. It gets old after a while in and of itself but also because it a) removes too much of the mystique of the borg and b) makes characters that were already sidelined have even less to do. It being so patently obvious that her prominence had a lot to do with Braga getting to plow her IRL makes it worse too.
>>220001853fwiw, im watching through and just got to the part where seven of nine is on the crew and she does have ridiculous tits. janeway has a sneaky nice rack too.
>>220020427the rest of the crew kind of sucks although theyve grown on me a bit.
>>220020427it's at the point were like "fuck everything these nerd fags will watch if we put a big titty bitch in the show." it was totally cynical. she just happened to be actually good.
>>220020354Yeah that is pretty much exactly how I feel about her. I don't give a shit that Chakotay and Kim got fewer episodes, but more Tuvok could've been good. Maybe Torres is wasted potential, too. She's pretty one-dimensional but still better than Chakotay.Maybe a hot take, but I think Paris's character was overall handled better than most of the cast and is a top 3 of the VOY crew for me. Sure a lot of episodes he just says "Yes, ma'am" but he continues to periodically get fun episodes after Seven takes over.
>>220020911>it’s a “Paris like spaceships” episode
>>220011973They said there were plenty they encountered but never bothered to absorb them because they were beneath them/unable to.

They were unworthy of assimilation.
I think I liked Kes way more on my first watch because she was a complete surprise. I had a decent grasp on all the other characters (besides maybe B'Elanna, I just knew she exists and thought she was 1/4th Klingon) before jumping in through people talking about the show and seeing clips of it here and there. I had no idea that there was this whole other main character who sticks around for nearly half the series. But on rewatch, I concede that she's a stinky kaka character who doesn't add much and every new trait/power they keep adding onto the Ocampa is absurd.
>>220020175Kek

>>220021721She's also strikingly beautiful. Her face actually reminds me a lot of Natalie Dormer, who is also a goddess.

>>220021721>>220023018>beautiful but modest and demure>sexy and sultry yet warm and soothing voice>loving, comforting and empathetic disposition>curious and intellectually stimulating companionI desperately need a Kes in my life
>>220020354In rewatching last time I was surprised to remember that Seven episodes really weren't as copious or frequent as I assumed. There were a lot of them but they were pretty tastefully spread out between episodes featuring other characters. I think people just conflated her heavy involvement in the marketing with her involvement in the actual show.
alright guys, watching DS9 S4 E8 "Little Green Men" with a bowl of vegan chili at my side.so far the Ferengi Episodes have been pure kino. House of Quark being one of the best in the entire show so far.
>>220023926It tickles me that they got the space hippie from TOS to play the hard ass air force commander.
>>220023576I rarely see people mention how the show really becomes the "Janeway, Seven, and the Doctor" show, I guess because the Doctor has been around from the beginning. And yeah I don't think Janeway actually drops off in screentime or episodes when Seven joins, it was probably just the marketing that made Mulgrew resent Ryan.

Why did they make the Federation President in STVI look so much like a Klingon and not even mention his species in the movie? This confused the hell out of me.
>>220001853It’s great. The characters feel more alive and human than the cardboard cutouts on the Enterprise D. The aliens are more interesting (vidians, ocampa, hirogen, etc). And above all else, It’s comfy

>>220006453I expect there was a misunderstanding and the 400,000 figure was the number of people who watched the whole way through the season.
