Is it just me, or did the personality of Captain Jean-Luc Picard change quite a bit? I'm not saying that he was Captain Bligh at the beginning of the series, but he seems to have become a recognizably different person.

Everyone seemed to change between season 1 & 2 compared to the rest of the series. Only Jordie stayed consistent.

No, Geordie was your fresh 90s black friend a couple times in S1
>>
He’s certainly more idealistic and spirited in the earlier seasons. He went through some pretty horrible shit including getting assimilated, that takes a toll.
Also the show started in the 80s, actors still treated TV like stage acting and hamming it up a bit was the norm.

Was just about every character more lewd during Season 1? What made The Next Generation people change that?
>>
>>220045380
Geordi went from helmsman to chief engineer in between 1&2

Gene Roddenberry was a huge pervo. For as much as people shit on S1 and 2 for their cartoonishness, I think the aesthetics and production values were far better

If it were up to me.

Geordi wouldn't be on the Enterprise at all.
Because he's blind.

I always avoided the first season because everyone told me it was awful. Watched a bunch of it recently and I was really confused seeing Geordie in a red uniform flying the ship. I know promotions exist but it's a totally different area, a consultant psychiatrist doesn't get promoted to head of hepatology.

They never say anything about him getting promoted. He's just down on the engine room with a new rank and everyone acts like he's always been there.

It’s not really unbelievable. Wesley did both too
>>
>>220045978
Wesley's promotions and duties were announced though. Geordi was just suddenly a lt commander. I guess it took the writers until season 2 to figure out that having the blind guy fly the ship was kinda stupid.

Dismissed, cadet.

Patrick Stewart just started changing Picard into himself and made the character worse and worse

Just the new Picard series is what's wrong. I can accept the movies things.
