Why was Code Geass forgotten while Deathnote remains so loved?
2000's anime feels weirdly neglected. Not really part of the classic 90's unc canon with Sailor Moon and Cowboy Bebop and most autistic Zoomers detest media older than 5 years old. Code Geass had a really bad 2nd season that pissed everyone off at the time.

Bit random but I was thinking of an anime plot that was just an Anti-Death Note/Code Geass where MC is just a rising artist in a dystopia who's unironically bringing people together peace and harmony but the government and rebels are both trying to play him to further their own goals. Like MC doesn't give a shit about the civil war and just wants love and peace but the rebels are using his music and interpreting his songs/messages to storm the government while the government is trying to keep MC in check even though he's barely involved in the rebellion.

Death Note has the same problem with the series after L is no longer the primary antagonist. Desu Note is convincingly set in a realistic world, Chode Gayass is not, it's a visually grating world similar to Red Garden's nonsensical approximation of an American city. They're both chuuni-flavored, but Desu Note can hold a normal's attention for most of it's run due to it's story and the way it's told, whereas Chode Gayass was for people that spent their days in chatrooms pretending to cast madeup spells at eachother.
